We booked a vacation to CA for this summer...We plan on DL July 31, Aug, 1, and Aug 2. Honestly we had NO idea about the Star Wars opening. I am freaking out reading about how parks will be at capacity, huge lines etc...We do plan on getting Max Pass and only doing one park per day.

The last time we were at DL our kids were much younger (6 and 4) and we had a great time in the summer.

Should we skip DL and find other things to do in CA for those 3 days?

I wouldn’t skip it over fear of lines. DL always has lines, and SWGE opening won’t help, but I’d still go. Just go with a plan. Get their early. Use MaxPass and just realize you may not get to do everything.

Have you decided where you'll be staying? On site or off? On site will give you the perk of EMH/EE each day of your stay -- that early hour can really help you get a lot done. As the pp said, DLR is crowded now most of the time, so do your best research here, make your plan A and back up plan B, bring lots of patience and a positive attitude, then get ready to go with the flow, let the magic happen, and have a great time!

If you're in CA anyway, definitely go! I'll take a crowded Disney over no-Disney any day of the week. I agree with above...stay on-site if possible.

I would go. The parks will be well staffed and running at full capacity. It will be crowded, but always is. Stay within walking distance and arrive early every day. I doubt they'll have capacity closures at that point, but if it is still a problem ask a CM before you leave. They don't tend to tell guests and you wouldn't want to get shut out. Also consider park hoppers. If DL is too busy later in the day head to DCA. The wider paths help the park feel less chocked.

Don't be scared of Disneyland in the summer! If you get there early and use MaxPass, you will have a great time!
