Happy Thursday everyone. Today isn't too happy here, our desktop died. We're using the laptop now. We have to buy a new harddrive and try to have as much information from our old harddrive extracted. Luckily Darren has a guy at work who said he'd try to get the information for us, but Darren has to put in the new harddrive and re-install all the software we had. I refused, and said I'd pay someone at Best Buy to do it. So, Darren is going to try to do it, and will be cursing at the computer this weekend for sure. Luckily we have the laptop. We're not cut off at all, just slightly annoyed the desktop died. Hopefully we can get it up and running again by the weekend. If it's not one thing it's another thing here lately. First me, and it's still on-going. Darren is sick, and then has a reaction to antibiotics, Brandon gets sick, Darren takes a new job which might relocate us to Salt Lake City, computer dies, when will it end. Though relocating to Salt Lake City might not be too bad. So, we'll see what happens. I can't wait for this vacation to leave all this behind.
Lori - just think, your getting all the bad stuff done and over with at once. By the time the cruise gets here, this will all be history. We're all sick too. I have the worst cold I've had in years.

I'd be bummed if my computer died. But replacing the hard drive isn't too difficult.

NJ to Salt Lake City? That's quite a difference!

Lori,

Welcome to Deck 6! We're only 3 cabins away from you guys!

Sorry I haven't been on the boards too much -- just finished up my play this past weekend -- "London Suite" and we had the cast party (BBQ) at our house on Sunday after the last show.

I'm always sorry when a show is over, but now I can really think about our trip! Can't wait!!!! :Pinkbounc

We're renting a car now in LA instead of taking transfers. So, now we can take Carly & Alexis to a beach when we go to Disneyland. They said they're not interested in going to the parks. Go figure... well, they're 18 now and the beach is much more interesting to them :confused3

Val

We're on deck 6 too. We've been on that deck for all 3 Disney cruises and I really like it. Can't wait for this vacation - it's going to be so awesome!

Did anyone else watch the Magic go through the Panama Canal? I get up early for work so I was already up. Of course, now I'm going to be late for work because I was watching instead of getting ready. :teeth:

Just 50 more days!

I did! It was wonderful. I even sent the link to a Disneyfile at work and she was watching too!! How exciting.

Dylan was glued to the computer! Well it won't be long for us!

It's been pretty cool to watch the Magic going through the locks today.

Is it July yet?

Sara

Only 49 days to go! Woohoo!!! Where is everyone? We were getting dangerously close to page 2! :scared1: We can't have that!

It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO hot here today! It's supposed to get to triple digits here in the Inland Empire. :sad2: I really don't like it when it's this hot!!! Oh well, at least all of our plans today are inside in the air conditioning...mommy's day at preschool, a birthday party at John's Incredible Pizza, and a scrapbooking workshop. If it's this hot now, I KNOW it will be HOT, HOT, HOT for our cruise!!!

Hope all is well with all of you!

Hi everyone!
Went to DL yesterday. It was so insane. Had to park on top level of parking structure. We saw the fireworks. They were beyond belief. I actually cried! I am not a huge fireworks peron but I loved it.
Lori

Where is everyone? Don't you all realize we only have 7 weeks until our cruise!!! :earseek:

Did we ever finalize the plans for the 28th? Craig - did you find out if we could get in the terminal area? I think we are going to get up there mid-afternoon and head over to the cruise ship promenade. Looks like there will be a great view of the Magic from there.

Can I start packing yet?

Dear All,
we are getting the Disney Spirit here!!!...my dd refuses to wear any of her disney costumes despite much pleading from me :sad2: ...i am taking all of them and will pass them on to my niece.

It was incredibly :sunny: hot here too and it was hot in mexico in november soooo it will be blazing during the cruise. We plan on beach days ...that is what all the kids want to do.

We already have matching tropical outfits...cause i remember a trpoical dress up night???

we are still planning a trip to disney to see all the 50th stuff...if there is anything that was great let me know...i am putting the fireworks on my list.

Hi Kim! You're right in your thinking.... we're all bringing a bottle of wine to the wine/cheese/strawberry party. I can't decide whether to bring wine or champagne to the party.

With the temperature over 100 again today, it'd be nice to have a margarita to cool things down! :drinking1

I'll just step in here and give the official "party host" response. There is no requirement that you bring wine or anything else to the party (clothes is the only requirement...after all, this is not a Carnival cruise). We will ensure that we will not run out of food or beverages (though I might have to place a limit on the chocolate-covered strawberries, for obvious reasons). That being said, I can also promise that anyone arriving with bottle in hand will not be turned away, as it's always fun to try things that the guests themselves have chosen.

So, you are welcome to bring something if you like, but not obligated.

Chris

Hey...just read this on the May 28th thread...

Ports O'Call in San Pedro

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today Brandy, DH Joe and I drove to San Pedro to check out the "gate" situation. The guard told us that the port/dock IS CLOSED until 7am.. and once they open, if you want to park there at that time to greet the Magic, you will pay parking... (forgot to ask how much) The guard told us that Ports O'Call was the place to go to "greet" the incoming ships as they pass right by there and parking is FREE.

Off we went to check it out and we found it was directly in front of our hotel (Best Western) We walked around there and found it to be quite nice... lots of shops, restaurants, kid rides, and game places... face painting, balloons sellers, things of that sort. We decided that the best place to stand to greet the ship as it comes in is directly to the left of the Ports O'Call Restaurant... there is a boardwalk, sidewalk of sorts behind all the restaurants and this area, which is just to the left of Ports O'Call restaurant gives the best view of the water where the ship will go by to the dock... you actually can't stand RIGHT on the dock ... bummer. BUT the bright side of everything is that we are ALLOWED to go there as early as we want. OH... but we can't throw confetti... you will be arrested/fined, or something to that effect.

We had the champagne brunch at the Ports O'Call restaurant, it was quite good in fact. Anyway, in the restaurant, there were LOTS of beautifully colored flyers of the Magic at sea with the DCL logo. These flyers said:

"Disney Cruise Line
is coming to the Port of Los Angeles,
and you're inviteed to the celebration!
Join the fun at Ports O'Call Village
May 28 at 5pm*
as the Disney Magic departs on her
inaugural West Coast cruise!
In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line will offer cruises from the Port of Los Angeles for the very first time this summer. It all begins May 28th, as Disney Cruise Line brings the harbor alive with an exciting event. Boats of all sizes, blaring horns, waving flags and a colorful flotilla will escort the majestic Disney Magic to sea!
Bring your family and friends and join the celebration!
*The ship sails at 5p.m. For traffic and parking purposes, it is recommended that viewers arrive at 4p.m."

I grabbed several of these and didn't check to see if ALL the restaurants were giving these out but it stands to reason that they were. The servers we spoke to seemed very excited that the Magic was coming and were jealous that we were going out on the first cruise!.. They also said that all the incoming ships arrive between 5:30am and 6am.... we will be there... "Who's coming with me!" (Jerry Maguire)

Sounds like quite a celebration! Have we made the final decision about where we are meeting and when on Saturday? Due to other committments earlier in the day, we will probably be cutting it close...arriving around 4 pm...so I want to make sure I know where to go! At least you all will be easy to spot in those bright green shirts!

Sheila,
Are you suggesting your kids didn't think you were nuts until just this week with these festivities? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I wonder if Grumpyteen has an opinion on that....

Sara, glad to hear things worked out for you guys...we all look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Here is what I have found out. Talked to Angela with Ports O' Call Management. This is the place to be - marching band, 500 disney employees I am told, lots of stuff. Still trying to get more info as it becomes available. Angela said you do not want to be in a restaurant when the event happens, but perhaps afterwards. The festivities will be taking place along the village. Does the Magic sail at 4pm? It takes 1 hour to hit the breakwater. The sail-by time has been changing 5pm, 5:30pm & 5:45pm. I currently have Acapulcon Res. for 5:30 which is right down the way. I also made Ports O' Call Restaurant Res. for earlier but am going to let those go. Right now I think Ports O' Call at 3 pm looks like the ticket and Acapulco afterwards. I might push back the res. to 5:45. I may try to do a recon mission later in the week to the village. Can't seem to find this flyer but will continue to hunt.
