July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

Lori...the ones I got were the really flat ones, but they had some other lime green sandals by Cherokee that had some support. No sparkly thingys, but they had some support. I found them at the new Target at Summit in North Fontana, but I bet they have them at all of them!!!

I also scored some bright lime green luggage tags!!

You are in the shopping mode, Kim. I can't wear flip flops--I can't stand having something between my toes. I found some nice sandals at Mervyn's. They are so comfortable! I think they'll be fine walking around Mexico in.

Still haven't figured out what to wear for formal and semi-formal night. Is it time to be stressed about that yet? I'm not even looking because I just don't know what to look for.

Well the the weather in Maryland is finally warming up! Baseball started today and I have started with the self-tanner!! I am really getting in the mood! Haven't thought about sandals yet as I am still in pumps and boots but this week should be in the 70's and 80's so I painted my toes in anticipation. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Bar is supposed to be installed tomorrow so basement should be done. I am keeping my fingers crossed, my legs crossed, and anything else I can think of!!

Did get my lime Mickeys from Home Depot as well as other colors -- I am going to attach them to magnets for cabin door decorations -- that is about the extent of my artsy/craftsy talent!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Lori -- How are you feeling?

Sheryl :wave2: :wave2:

Thanks Kim.
I'm going out after dinner so I'll have to check them out. I was checking the other threads and lots of people are doing the shoes instead of shirts. Its interesting to see what the others are doing too!
For anyone who is interested, our local Jc Penney has a lot of cute dresses that you could dress up or down and would work for the semi and formal night. They were on sale last week for like $49 (orignally 100+). I don't know if they still are on sale but its worth a look. I would assume that all Penneys would have similar things. Robinson's and Macys were way overpriced. Although since Macys just bought out Robinson's, rumor has it that several Robinson's will be closing so if that's true there could be some serious sales coming up.

Hi guys!!! Still dizzy and left side still partially not working right, but all in all an improvement over the last couple of days!! I'll be booking the Sierra Madre Tour tomorrow as a back-up plan to cancelling Randi's. Most likely I'll have to cancel, since with my precaurious balace system now, just being on the ship could cause a problem now!!! Talk about an hour or two bouncing on a horse!! YIKES!!! I'll have to follow the Dr's advice on this one!!!! Thanks for all well wishes, it definately helped!!! On Monday is my MRI, and then Thursday followup with the Neurologist. I'll keep you all posted, but I'm definately on the mend, of course to all the steroids!!! As my sister said, I can't play MLB now!!!! But, I feeling better, so who cares!!!! TAlk to everyone soon!!!!

Yes...I AM in shopping mode! I've done a lot of shopping for the kids and DH little by little in the past year since I booked, but nothing for myself until now.

I don't really like flip-flops, either, but these were so cute!!! I definitely won't be walking around Mexico in them...they're more of an "on the ship" pair!!! I'll try to find some sandals that are a little more neutral with a LOT more support for walking around!! Let me know if you find anything!!!

I'm still up in the air about formal and semi-formal night as well. Trying to figure out for sure what the guys are wearing and coordinate with them. I have to make a final decision about the tuxes...yea or nay...and then go from there. If we decide to do the tuxes, I need something more formal. If they wear sportcoats, I can get away with something a little less dressy. Again...keep me posted if you guys find anything!

Good morning, all!!! It was a quiet weekend on the boards...we were ALMOST on page 2, so I thought I'd bump us up. Anybody go shopping for the cruise this weekend? Do tell!!

Lori--hope you're feeling better each day! :goodvibes

Kim :flower:

No cruise shopping for me. Well, except for 2 green t-shirts which should be delivered today (they were shipped Friday).

For all those who made excursion reservation thru DCL, did you receive your confirmation letter? Got our letter Saturday. :teeth:

No excursion confirmation for me yet....please GOD don't let that mean there's another problem. We booked:

Puerto Vallarta: DolphinKids encounter & observer 11 am, 2 dolphin swims 12 pm

Mazatlan: Mazatlan Beach Escape (booked as a back-up to Randi's just in case, but planning on cancelling it)

Cabo: Cabo Beach Escape (planning to do the beach on our own, but booked this just in case...may cancel)

I just hope I get a confirmation soon with all of the above information! :sad2:

This is me...thinking happy thoughts!

Kim :flower:

Kim-
DCL sent me a fax'd copy of my shore excursions the day after I fax the requests. Bet if you called them, they'd fax something to you. :confused3

***CHICK CHAT: I'll be on the look out for those limey flip-flops. Any excuse to buy another pair of shoes works for me. :cool1: I had heard that Macy was buying R-M. I hope they bring it up to a Macy's level and don't drop Macy's quality- although anymore, the level of both is sliding fast. I'm not doing any more shopping - still hoping this extra 10 (ok, 20) will mysteriously disappear and I can get a smaller size. **

Lori, hope you continue to feel better every day. Here's some more pixie dust: :wizard:

What do you guys think about having a DIS beach party within one of the "official" Beach Breaks? I think with Chris's connections, charm and wit he might be able to set something up on a beach at one of the stops. ---Just an idea....

Oh, one more thing, does anyone know if it's legal to bring fruits (OK avo's for guacamole) on board? There's nothing like homemade guac at a party! :earboy2:

I'm game for a Beach Break party... We might actually be able to bring Lexi on one of those excursions, or we could all just meet at one of the better beaches (we should know which are good ones after a couple of the 'test runs' are made in May & June).

Yes got our confirmation on Friday and was relieved I did book it like I wanted! I am always nervous that it will come in with something different --- I wish I had thought to have them fax it that morning.

I am still waiting on my shirts and I ordered last Wednesday. I checked the tracking and the last information from 4/14 showed they are still in CA. I guess it is a long way to the East Coast!! :confused3

I like the Beach Break Party idea! Very cool! I haven't booked an excursion for Mazatlan, but would be happy to if that's where we might plan the party.

I know that a lot of us are doing Randi's Happy Horses in Mazatlan...how about the Beach Break party in Cabo? It seemed like many were planning to hit the beach at that port when we were talking about it awhile ago. ??????

I read that the Melia in Cabo San Lucas is really nice. They have 2-4 person loungers/beds (some covered/some not) at the pool and beach, as well as regular loungers. They have a private, roped off area at the beach, nice pools, swim-up bar (I think). I heard that they allow cruise passengers in for free, but others say different. I bet if someone contacted them about reserving space for a group our size, they'd guarantee us the use of their facilities in exchange for our food and beverage purchases that day! I've also heard positive things about the Hacienda, but they are an older hotel. Both are on Playa Medano and close to water sport rentals.

Kim :flower:

I've been trying to find out from DCL which resort they are going to for their Cabo Beach Break excursion. "The Beach Club Resort" is what's listed in the description, but there seems to be no hotel by that name anywhere in Cabo. The CMs just keep telling me that is all they have for info. Trying to get to a supervisor to get more info. I'm hoping it's the Melia or the Hacienda, as both are on Playa Medano and close to the watersports place where I have prebooked our parasailing adventure (10% off if you book online!). The company is JT watersports. They have a website...and are located on the beach in front of the Hacienda hotel.

With regard to the beach at the Hacienda vs. the Melia, I've heard the Hacienda is more quiet and family oriented...the Melia more party-oriented. Of course, I know NONE of this first-hand...only from what I've read!!

I would LOVE a beach excursion with all our group in Cabo! I wanted to try a beach somewhere, but am a little afraid to venture out on our own. I would feel a lot more secure if there was a lot of us.

As for shopping, went to JC Penney's yesterday. Saw the dresses, and yes they were at really great prices. I tried on a simple black dress and I liked it, but didn't love it. I think I'm having a hard time because I just don't know what to wear for semi-formal and formal night. Would a nice black cocktail dress be ok for formal, or do I need something really formal. I have a nice formal silver long gown, but I may feel funny being so dressed up--but if everyone else is that dressed up, then I won't. Please give me some guidance. Also, I know I'll go back to the room right after and put on something more comfortable. And, what am I supposed to wear for brunch at Palo? I have really nice silk slacks and a silk top that I wore to Palo for dinner last time, but I think it is more of a dinner outfit. What night would that be good for? :confused3

We got our confirmation Sat as well. Everything was just like we booked it, always a good sign.

When I asked DCL CM about formal nights she told me that there would be everything from simple black dresses with maybe a nice necklace to a night at the academy awards. She also said the men will be in everything from nice black suits to very fancy tuxes (I got a picture in my mind of a light blue disco thing that made me laugh!LOL). I think that basically anything that is nice will work. Its hard though because you don't want to be the only one over dressed or worse yet too underdressed. I wish I wore a size 4 because I have a friend with a closet full of good stuff but the last time I wore a 4 was the toddler stage!

I didn't get to shop for me this weekend. I figured I should buy a few things for DH and had to pick up a few misc things for DS. I tried on those flip flops but my feet hurt just walking around the immediate area of the store so I fiugred that wasn't going to work.
