July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

I still enjoy Who Wants to Be a Mouseketeer, too, althouth I'm usually the crazy lady jumping up and down to be chosen as one of the panel members (for "Ask the Panel" option). Warn ya'll now, it's not a pretty site!

Have we considered getting a group photo on formal or semi-formal nite? Would everyone be willing?

A group photo sounds like a great idea...what a neat keepsake! Is that something we would arrange ahead of time, or do we just show up in line for the photographer?

Krystal, I almost forgot: since you've come late to this party, there are a whole series of questions this group has worked on over the course of the thread. Being the "baby" of the bunch, we're hoping you'll chime in with your answers.

Here are at least most of them:
1) What are your top 3 Disney movies of all time?
2) What are your top 3 movies of all time?
3) What is the funniest scene in any movie you've ever seen?
4) Name your top 10 songs (and artist) of all time
5) Who is your favorite Disney character, and why?
6) What's your guess for the date when we'll hit 90 pages
7) What's your guess for how many pages we'll have by the time we sail?

There are probably a few I've missed, but this'll get you started. You'll have to read through the thread to see how others have answered these.

Have fun!! :jumping1:

p.s. wait until you get home from school before you post any answers.
OK it looks like I have missed a few questions, so I better get cracking!
1) What are your top 3 Disney movies of all time?
Mulan
Oliver
Hunchback of Notre Dame

2) What are your top 3 movies of all time?
Gone with the Wind
Eddie and the Cruisers
Bless the Beasts and the Children

3) What is the funniest scene in any movie you've ever seen?
This one is weird but lately I only see "kid" flicks and of course potty humor movies. It is the movie with Mr. Bean in it where he plays a detective and he is trying to stop the coronation of the bad guy and he pulls down the Prime Ministers pants so that he moons the audience. Needless to say I still chuckle!

4) Name your top 10 songs (and artist) of all time
1) Love me Tender -- Elvis Presly
2) Time for me to Fly -- REO Speedwagon
3) I started a Joke -- Bee Gees
4) Massachusetts -- Bee Gees
5) Yesterday -- Beatles
6) Tears in Heaven- Eric Clapton
7) Only Women Bleed - Alice Cooper
8) Ben -- Michael Jackson
9) Hurts so Good -- John Mellencamp
10) Holiday -- Bee Gees

There I think I am caught up.

There's a fab idea! Could we arrange it ahead of time?

That's a great idea!! ::yes::

Chris - I told Krystal about the questions. She has been occupied with a band/colorguard function all day today and will be again tomorrow morning. Then she leaves tomorrow afternoon with her dad to go to Vegas. But she can't stay away from the computer for long so I'm sure she'll squeeze in some time somewhere.

Sheila...and Krystal,
No worries. I just thought I'd put the questions out there...there's no obligation to answer them in any specific timeframe, or even at all.

Hope everyone has a good weekend :jumping1: .

Chris

Hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend! Whoo Hooo! I have paid off my cruise!! I know it hurts now but come July it is like a free vacation -- just spending money!! Of course I can spend a lot so I better start saving.

It is finally Spring and the weather is getting warmer! My crocus's are blooming and the daffidils are ready. I can feel July getting closer. Have a great week!

Dycal--congratulations! I am now saving money to put on our shipboard account before we go. It will be so nice to come back from vacation with NO credit card bills!

Did Chris mention that we went to Mexico a few weekends back? Here is a picture of one of our "small" lobster dinners. (BTW, this is one of the biggest dinner plates I've ever seen, 6 lobster halves sitting atop rice and beans - oh, yeah- soup and salad came with it, just in case ...)

Yikes! Did you split it 4 ways? It seems like you could feed an entire family off of that one plate...

Does anyone know anyone that is going on an earlier West Coast Cruise?

I know people will be posting information onto DisBoards but I was hoping one of us would get some direct information. There are six West Coast cruises before ours.

Only a little over three months!

Sorry I haven't been around much, but with leaving on Saturday for WDW I've been pre-occupied with that! So, I'll try to check-in between now and when we leave on Saturday and try to keep up that post count while I'm gone!!!! Hopefully we'll be up to 55 pages when I get back!!!!

Lori...have fun at WDW!!! :cool1: I've been really busy too. It's my "off-track" time (I teach at a year round school) and I've been trying to get all of the stuff done that I don't have time to do when I'm teaching...carpets cleaned, house organized ( :rotfl2: ), brownie meetings for the last few months planned, taxes done, etc. Plus, it's registration month at both kids' schools and time for parent conferences too! I need to go back to work to get a vacation! At least I have a scheduled lunch and breaks there! :earboy2:

Kim -

I just sent you a PM! Thanks for the well-wishes for our trip. I can't really wait to leave!! Do you how hard it is to try to find sunscreen in NJ in March? It's IMPOSSIBLE!! I've already tried Target and my local grocery store (they have an excellent health and beauty section) and both had a REALLY small selection. I'm going to try CVS tomorrow after I drop Brandon off at school and Spencer (the cat) off at the groomers. It's CRAZY!! If I had thought it would have been this difficult, I would have ordered in on-line a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully, I'll find some tomorrow, or I'll be hitting the stores in FL. I'm a nut when it comes to sunscreen, and won't use old stuff. Of course Darren said, we have TONS left from last year, but I just haven't thrown it out yet!!! So, my sunscreen quest continues........

Lori...I sent you a PM. That is hysterical about the sunscreen!!! :rotfl2: Living in California, I have never even thought about NOT being able to get it! We pretty much use it year round!

Kim :flower:

Kim--just reading your posts and saw you teach at a year-round school. Oh, how I miss the kids being in year round school. They switched 2 years ago because they built more schools. So long to inexpensive, off-season vacations. Oh well, DS is in jr. high now so he wouldn't be on a track system anyway. Try to enjoy your vacation and RELAX!

Lori--That is funny about the sunscreen. There is that one grocery store right outside of WDW, near Downtown Disney (or whatever they call it at WDW). I had to go there at 1 AM to get a thermometer and Children's Advil for our last trip when DD got the flu. What great memories! Have a GREAT TIME!

Karen

Guys, I'll keep you posted on my sunscreen search! Here in NJ, when it's 15 degrees, though today it's a balmy 50, there is no need for sunscreen, so it practically disappears from the shelves!!! My quest will continue, if not, I'll get some in Florida. I'm partial to the Coppertone Spectra brand and I haven't been able to find it ANYWHERE in NJ. Hopefully I'm successful tomorrow!

Karen - It's funny that you are complaing about the demise of your year-round schools. I was just PM'ing Kim about the pro/cons of year round schooling. There is a HUGE possibility that Darren will get relocated next year, and where we will be moving there are mostly year-round schools. Coming from the Northeast where there isn't a year-round school to be found, it's a completely foreign concept. I'd appreciate your feedback on how you feel your kids did in the year-round schools vs a traditional calender. Feel free to PM me, though I'm sure the rest of the group wouldn't mind us inflating the post count with our debate of year-round vs traditional schools.

Oh, I'll inflate the count. Pros (IMHO)--for us it is extremely hot here in the summer. It's too hot to play out in the sun anyway (unless you're in a swimming pool) so the kids may as well be in school. The biggest for me is taking vacations when other people aren't. Our trip to WDW was about $1500 more than it would have been if the kids were still on year round. Cons--because there were 4 different tracks, there were only 1 or 2 same classes per grade. If you had a bad group of kids in your class, there wasn't much chance of it changing the next year. Less choices for teachers, also. We ended up changing tracks because DS was accelerated a year and there was no room in the 1 class that was on his track. Also, my kids didn't meet that many kids from their same grade level because everyone was always coming and going. Also, all school activities were hard because one track was always missing. After writing all this I guess I do prefer the traditional school year. DD has met so many more kids and I don't know how we would handle Brownie meeting if they were all going at different times. DD is always in a class with her best friend, but otherwise the class is usually completely different. I think that's good.

As far as transfer, we're in a similar situation--please send some pixie dust our way. DH has been asked to move to Indianapolis. Right now they are letting him travel (1/2 the month--will get old real fast), but eventually he'll have to make a decision. I really love it here and know I don't want to move. I am keeping this from the kids because we just don't know what will happen and they don't need to worry.
