Day Three: He just can¡¦t keep up!!!!!!

July 11, 2003
DH and I are up early to check out of the Fairfield and into the Royal Pacific. I got a great rate from entertainment ($110.00) and had originally booked two rooms. DBIL didn't want to pay for the extra night when they already had a room at the Sleep Inn so I cancelled the second room and put the three of them onto my reservation (extra $25.00 per night per adult) and hoping we could upgrade at the hotel.

As we pull into the Royal Pacific DH unloads my chair, two suitcases, the charger for the chair and goes to park (DBIL's brother is taking the car so they don't have to deal with the shuttle service at their hotel). I am sitting there in a scooter, with the luggage by me and the bell hops are just looking or helping those who used valet parking. When DH returns I am still sitting there with the luggage. He goes up to borrow a luggage carrier and THEN one of the bellhops offers to help us. I tipped him $5.00 just so he could go back and tell the others not to ignore people who don't valet park.

We get in the check in line for Loew's members and are very quickly called to the desk. At this point the process s l o w e d down. She verified my entertainment card, then my credit card again, then we asked about an upgrade..paid the $35.00 and got an upgrade to a one bedroom suite. It just seemed to take a loooong time. We are then informed the guest currently in the room she assigned us has been given a late check out of 4:00 pm so our room won't be ready until at LEAST 5:00 pm!!! WHAT????? Luckily we had pulled our swim stuff out of the luggage and packed it in a small bag to put in a locker at the parks. I had reserved a cabana for Friday and Saturday so we could take a break from the parks and go swimming.

Get to Universal about 8:50 and quickly meet DSis, DBIL and his brother. We get our tickets and head through the gates. We need to get a locker because we have our swim stuff in a bag and they have their swim stuff and overnight change of clothes. DH gets to the lockers first and starts getting us one. The first question the machine asks is what row you would like your locker to be in. There are 4 rows. Okay...we are all vertically challenged people (my sis and I are under 5 foot, DH is maybe 5"3, DBIL is maybe 5"4 and his brother may be an inch or two taller). Where does DH pick for our locker...TOP ROW!!!! I guess he was making sure the short people could have the lower rows.

First stop: Terminator, sorry doesn't open until later. Well DH had decided to take a potty break while we did T2 so I didn't want to loose him. I went to the men's room and hollered in. He answered me and I let him know were just waiting for him because T2 wasn't open yet. I was not present for what happened next but it has gotten BIG laughs from everyone: he then mutters under his breath "I can't even go to the bathroom in peace"¨. He said the guy in the stall next to him burst out laughing. Then my DH continues with and it's even worse at home. Which apparently really amused the other guy who indicated it was a good thing he was in the bathroom already because he was laughing so hard he had to p. Anyway after DH's little break our next stop was Back to the Future. I waited while they rode. I knew there would be a lot of attractions at USF/IOA I couldn't do so I brought a few books along. They loved it and it's on to MIB. MIB is experiencing technical difficulties so we backtrack to ET. LOVE ET. Then it's back to Terminator. WE LOVE FOTL!!!!!! As a whole our group is moving kinda slow. DH and I pretty much share the same touring speed, DSis can pretty much match us but DBIL and his brother just can't keep up. If we're walking they are yards behind us. In a line if we make a move to get in somewhere they are 20 people behind us. And no one is on the same potty schedule!!! Oh well. We've been here before and will be again so we just keep quiet. After Terminator we do MIB...the newbie won, my sis came in second and DH was third. I was dead last. I think my gun was broken (ha ha) Then we see the Blues Brother, then Ghostbusters. Grab a small snack. Decide to do Shrek and then go swimming back at the hotel. The wait for Shrek even with FOTL was 25 minutes so we decide to go break for swimming and come back later. We catch the boat back to the Royal Pacific and I go the health club to check into the cabana. I'm looking forward to spending a day in the cabana. I check in and say I'm here to get our cabana. It's number 6. The woman looks at me and says we don't have six cabanas. So she looks my name up and says I'm not registered for a cabana. WHAT? I've made three phone calls regarding the cabana and you say I don't have one. Hold on, it may be at another hotel. Sure enough, my cabana reservation is somehow at the Hard Rock. Oh well, I like the pool at the Hard Rock better anyway. So it's back to the boats to go to City Walk and then transfer to the boat for the Hard Rock. We stayed at the pool a bit and then DH and I leave to go check into the room at the Royal Pacific. Everyone else meets us at 6:00 pm and it's back to the park.

We separated once we got to the park and made arrangements to meet at Jaws at 8:40. DH and I did MIB, ET, got a snack, did some shopping and just wandered around taking in the atmosphere. The others did Shrek and a few other things. We met up and did Jaws and out the newbie in the "fun spot". He really enjoyed it.

Leaving the park I let DBIL drive my scooter as I can't ride in Amityville and NY...too bumpy. At one point my DSis looks back and YES....he is waaaaay behind us and she says "He can't even keep up with the scooter" We about died laughing at the disgusted way she sounded.

We then headed for Jimmy Buffet's. Normally you get FOTL with your room key at the restaurants also but not at Margaritaville on Fridays and Saturdays. We were expecting to be told a looong wait and have to go someplace else. The wait was surprisingly only 20 minutes. We enjoyed a great meal and listening to music.

The hotel was a bit crowded but it was only one night so we managed. I'm so glad we got the upgrade!!!

I'm enjoying your reports, Belle1962!

I have a question about your upgrade. Are you Loew's First Blue or what level are you? I'm hoping for an upgrade too but I have the impression the Gold level gets them most of the time! What did you think of the suite?

Thanks!

I'm low level Blue. I paid the $35 though and they gave us the one bedroom suite. Frankly, if we didn't want the extra space from having so many people, the regular room would have been just fine. Got to the room around 11:00 pm at night and checked out the next morning. And we still only had one bathroom for all of us. Two rooms would probably have been better but it was cheaper to pay $25 per extra adult ($75) than $110 for another whole room.

Thanks!

I'm Blue level too so that gives me hope! :D I'm actually hoping to be able to get a Club level upgrade since that would really help cut down on food costs having 2 kids.

Thanks again,

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!
