July 5th Dream

Nasa updated the shuttle lauch schedule for the Atlantis today. It now says targeted for "Early July". I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get to see a launch. That would be:cool1:

Wow! That would be amazing to see! I hope it is while we're on the ship!!!

Princess Bette, you and your family will be just a few doors down from mine! Looks like there are quite a few families that are on deck 7, actually. We will be waving to each other as we get on and off elevators!

I realized that I have 4 decks up or 4 decks down to get to the places I wish to be (food and fun!). Usually I take the stairs if it is 3 decks or less. Reading how busy the elevators are, maybe I need to start getting my thighs into "stair mode". Gosh, there are so many things I need to do just to be ready to cruise!

How cool would that be to be on the Dream when the shuttle takes off?

My eldest, the one doing the Internship at Epcot, had a group field trip yesterday to the Kennedy Space Center. She was very impressed, and is also hoping we can see the shuttle blast off. My youngest and her BF are too busy worrying about finals next week to even think about anything trip related right now. I will be so glad when school is finished!

Is everyone that's driving, parking at the port? I read a review on the boards today about the new parking shuttle place, and decided to make a reservation. There is a 10% off coupon on their website if you reserve online. For us, this is probably best, since the traffic as we get to port, and trying to figure out where to go, always causes small bouts of conflict between DH and I. He is terrible with navigations, and actually got lost once after dropping us off with our luggage and then going back to park the car! Managed to get back onto the highway instead! Hence, I am the navigator, and my job is to steer him away from traffic. Hard to do at the Port! :rolleyes1

Better for us if someone else take us the last couple of miles, and then all of us can just ooh and ahh over the Dream as we go over the last bridge!

Here on the homefront, looks like we have renters for my mom's house! I have been slowly getting my mom used to the idea of selling her home, but housing prices being what they are, she won't get her buying price back. Thankfully, she owns the home free and clear, but the thought of getting rid of it, even though she hasn't lived in it since September, is very hard for her.

Out of the blue, a family from church contacted me last week, and we now have renters! I know, in my mom's mind, this is still hard to understand, but at least the house won't sit empty and my mom will have a little bit more income coming in. I still don't know if she understands what is happening, but I hope it is going to be the right path for us to take at this time.

Of course, now I have to get her house ready in two weeks so the new renters can move in! This is so eating into my vacation preparation time! I really just want to sit at home with a note pad and jot down all the hints and tips I can find! You all understand, right? ;)

our family group of 10 (5 adults, 5 kids) in three cabins are all on deck 7 too.... looks like the place to be for a fun cruise!

Hi, we are also driving to the port. can you give me the name of the shuttle service. would like to check it out.

thanks, ellen

Ellen, the name is Park n Cruise, website - parkcruise.com . I think the coupon was on the right side of the page, down near the bottom.

On a "this better not happen while I am down there" note, NOAA hurricane outlook says more and stronger storms this summer. Lovely. Guess who will be watching the hurricane forecasts on NOAA for the next 6 weeks! So glad I have trip insurance, just in case!

If you don't have it, go buy it, make sure it covers hurricanes!

So excited to be with all of you on Deck 7!! Sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun!! Can't wait! We are staying at CIS the night before the cruise and using their shuttle to get to the port...hope it is effecient. Has anyone else done it before? Can we make ressies ahead of time...seems like I read that somewhere.
Congrats on the renters luvavacation!! And yes, life sometimes gets in the way of our fun doesn't it! lol!!
I would love to see the shuttle take off...I had requested free tickets to Kennedy from our congressman, but never heard back from him. Hmmm....wonder if he will be getting my vote next time?!
Ok...no more hurricane talk!!! We are still recovering from the tornadoes of last month and will be for a long time...please, no more natural disasters anytime soon!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Bette

Just a quick note about my Dad. He had his heart surgery yesterday and everything went well! I was at the hospital for over 13 hours but he is doing great so it was worth it. He should be recuperated and on his own by the end of June so I will be having a good time on the cruise! Can't wait!

Wonderful news about your father, Dylcal/Sheryl! :goodvibes It certainly will be easier for you to relax and enjoy yourself knowing that your father is doing well.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Only 6 more weekends to go!

Just finished printing and cutting out all of our door magnets! You know, I think the planning is almost as fun as the cruising! :)

Shuttle launch is now set for July 8th, so if it goes on time, we'll be out of range. But if NASA slips it, maybe they'll launch right after we arrive.

Thanks for the reminder. That's the one thing I haven't done yet. I Need to go get some supplies--oh darn, a shopping trip is in my future;)

Oh well, at least we should be able to see it on the launch pad and that would be exciting for me:cool1:

Surely we would be able to see the light, smoke trail from Nassau yes ??
