July 5 2014 Mediterranean Cruise Meet Thread

Not heard anything about this...from Disney or from anyone else. I'm going back to my meets page and ask there.

American citizens traveling to Turkey on U.S. passports must obtain a visa. Currently, holders of all types of passports can purchase a 90-day sticker visa at the port of entry for $20 cash if they are traveling to Turkey as tourists.

For further information, travelers in the U.S. may contact the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey at 2525 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20008, telephone: (202) 612-6700, or the Turkish consulates general in Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, or New York. Information may also be found at Turkish Embassy in Washington, DC. Overseas, travelers may contact a Turkish embassy or consulate.

While you do need to have a passport when traveling overseas, special arrangements are made by the large cruise ship lines to facilitate their passengers’ shore excursions. These special arrangements allow cruise ship passengers to come ashore without a visa for day visits. Please check with your cruise line for details of their arrangement.

You may visit Turkey on a day trip from your cruise ship without carrying your passport ashore. You may want to carry a photocopy of your passport with you when your passport is being kept for safekeeping by the cruise lines, however.

The above is pasted from the US Embassy site for Turkey.

Hello! We just booked this cruise today. It will be DH and our, by then, 8 year old son. This is our second Disney cruise and second time in the Magic. We did NY/Canada last year.

We will likely leave the US on the 2nd, we were in Venice for a few days in 2010 but it will be our son's first time there. I'd say that 1 to 2 days in Venice is plenty, add a day if you want to venture out to Murano or Burano.

Hi my family will be sailing on this cruise! 2 parents and two kids DD18 and DS16 at the time of sailing. Can't wait!!

We will also have an 8 yr old and his older brother who will be 12 and likely spend more time in the Tween Club. Hopefully our boys can meet!

Hi All,

We recently changed our itinerary from the later 14th Med cruise as these dates worked better for us.
It is myself (Andrew) DW (Tanya) DS Alex (13) and DD Elysse (11) from Perth, Western Australia

This will be our second disney cruise (last year we did a 3 day Caribbean) and we adding two weeks prior and one week after the cruise...we are very excited..and are madly counting down the days

Hello everyone! I posted back in April that my family is on this cruise. Now knowing in a years time we all will be having a fabulous time, I thought I would reconnect with everyone on this board. I am Amy, DH is Rick, and DD (who will be 17 at cruise time) is Anne. We are very excited never having been to Greece or Turkey. DD is in England right now with school is more excited for our Disney cruise next summer than her trip this summer. Looking forward to meeting others. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of his/her respective season. (I see there is a family from Australia)!

We can't wait to visit the ruins in Greece and Turkey during this cruise! We will be going with my DD age 9 and DS age 12. We are also going to be spending a couple of days in Venice before departure. Please add us to the FE list - one of our favorite DCL activities!

Hey Everyone!:wave2:
Sorry to have disappeared for so long. I am a preschool teacher and recently the powers that be decided to close our school and as of the 12th a school that has been in exsistence for 15 years is no longer. There was a lot of work to do and a lot of emotions so I really couldnt be on the boards for a while.
Anyways, I am back, and hope that everyone is doing well! andenjoying your summers!
Welcome to anyone who has joined us lately!
Hard to believe that in one years time we will have shared memories of a "Magical" journey.pixiedust:
Does anyone else think that we should start thinking of a name for our group?
Thank you for the info on Turkey and possibly needing a Visa.
We are still a small group right now and we have some time for the FE lists and info.
If we stay small perhaps we might want to do a Secret Mickey instead?
I think thats all for now.
TTFN!

Decided to take the plunge :)! Can't wait to meet all our new friends on this cruise!

5 of us in total (and 2 more being talked into joining!) Me, DH, DS (16), DD (8) and Papa (young at heart).

Going to go the Montreal --> Paris -->Overnight Train -->Venice what an adventure we will have. Now hunting for the Venice hotel that has suites for a family ;)

I don't see a meet thread started for this Cruise on July 5, 2014 sailing from Venice so starting this here. We just booked this cruise for a family vacation next summer. We did a Mediterranean Cruise in 2010 on Disney and we really enjoyed it.

Yippee we did Med in 2010 too, then the Transatlantic in 2011 (loved, loved, loved, Barcelona)

We are also on this cruise. Me, DH, and DDs 14 and almost 11 at the time we sail. This is the girls first trip to Europe. They are big Percy Jackson fans, so spending time in Greece was why we picked this cruise.

My DH is a huge PJ fan as well and we thinking of writing to the Author for a video link to his website for uploading. Looks like the teens will have a blast this cruise!

Is there a FB group set up for this sailing? Some like the FB better for quick exchanges and for the links with stuff. I can take it on if anyone is interested. I will make it closed for privacy. Just let me know.

I had to cancel today. I can't swing it. Maybe disney will get desparate to sell rooms and I can't snag a last minute deal.
