July 4th weekend........are we crazy

Many of the Fort Fiends spend July 4th at the Fort!!

However, not many of them venture into the parks!!

If that is the only time you can go, than by all means go for it.

If you can go when it is cooler or less busy :thumbsup2

When we were the for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season in 2008, a cast member on the boat launch commented to us that the SINGLE MOST BUSY DAY AT Disneyworld IS JULY 4TH.

We have made it a tradition to go during July 4th. However, I must add that we NEVER go to the parks on the 4th, period. We have lots and lots of fun at the Fort.

We went to Disney over Christmas last year. Always SWORE I'd never do that, but there I was... Ended up being fine. We had a great time, just changed our expectations a bit, and warned the kids we might not be able to do everything we usually do. Did not go to the parks on Christmas Day, and I would take others' advice and stay away on the 4th of July. And we took advantage of early hours, then left when we became uncomfortable with the crowds. We had a fabulous time.

Just go with the flow. :goodvibes

For the first few years that we were married, the week of July 4th was the only time my DH and I had available to go to Disney. In fact, we always went to the MK on the 4th (they used to give out little flag pins). Yes, it was crowded, but we always had a good time and if you are WDW veteran you still should be able to squeeze in everything that you want to do. As a matter of fact, we are considering coming down and camping at the Fort at that same time this year as we fear that the downward spiraling economy may impact our travel plans this year. I think that you'll be fine. We always had a good time despite the crowds! Its Disney for goodness sake!

We were just there over New Years this year and did not think it could get any worse. We are planning a trip over the July 4th of 2010 so I'll have to keep a eye here to get more info. By the way New Years eve was great in the Magic Kingdom we got there @ 8 am and was there till 1 am.

Thank you just made our 4th plans. We never go to the parks on Holidays way to many people for us. We live in FL and go when there is a 5-10 min wait.

We went to the parks during New Years week and I wanted to leave as soon as I got on the bus...however, we had relatives that we were escorting around, so I lumped it. You just can't get a whole lot done with all those people.

We love to go at this time of year. We went July 4th 2007 and plan to go back this year. We always do the Fireworks on July 3rd in MK and Epcot on July 4th. We go often enough that we don't plan to do a lot of rides on the
4th--just enjoy all the atmosphere. In 2007 family called us from home and told us we had to be at MK for opening because there was to be a huge swearing in of new citizens. . . so off we go and enter right after opening. It was fantastic. There was a huge swearing in before the castle & the new citizens marched in a parade down Main Street. It was on GMA as I recall. We were asked if we wanted to participate and were given flags to wave. There was actually an air force fly over that seemed to go down main street. Lee Greenwood was singing God Bless the USA in front of the castle. If that doesn't make you proud to be an American, well? My DDs were actually born in China and adopted the week of July 4th & are so proud to be Americans so they loved it. We try to celebrate our Family Anniversary there on July 4th as often as we can so we have reservations for this year. :cheer2: pixiedust:

Wow! Thank you for sharing this. Awesome, just awesome.

We always go on the 4th of July! Its hot and the parks are crowded, but we always have a great time. The golf cart parade at the fort should not be missed. Look for us this year, we plan on being over decorated!

We were there over July 4, 2008 & it was a blast. Enjoyed the fireworks from the marina. Went into the parks for a bit. Was very warm without rain which surprised us. Good time had by all so we're going back again over the fourth of July this year.
