July 4th crowds?

Has anyone ever been to USO/IOA on the 4th of July? If so, is it crowded AND are there going to be fireworks starting that night? Any response will make me ecstatic !!!

It is very crowded but lots of fun. They have fireworks at both parks and also Citywalk.

Fireworks start on July 4th night and run thru the 1st week of August.

Went to the RPR July 6th thru the 8th. Planned the trip just for the fireworks.

Yes, it's packed, and hot during the afternoon.
But, you get to see the fireworks, and the parks stay open late.

So if you stay onsite, the plan is to visit early, rest in the afternoon, then return for the fireworks at 10pm. Here is my page from this year.

The fireworks are really awsome too! You can see them from nearly anywhere in the park. Last time I saw them, I felt as if they surrounded me....

We were able to by AP "preferred seating" passes ahead of time through the box office at City Walk. We were on the grassy area along the lagoon at the foot of CW. There was special 4th of July happenings, bands, jugglers, food for purchase, etc. Got there early in mid-afternoon to stake out seating on the grass and the attendants came around w/mist bottles to help everyone beat the heat. Late afternoon "sun shower" drenched everyone but very few people left their spots. Waited through 2 rain delays before fireworks finally got started.......simultaneously over US and IOA. I think I remember the pref. seat. tickets being $12.

Last year I remember it being very crowded on that day, but as phamton pointed out it is still alot of fun.
