We will be at WDW for two weeks.......never been there over the 4th. We go to WDW 4-5 times a year but somehow in the past years missed the 4th.
What can we expect?

If you're staying within walking distance of a park (BCV or BWV to Epcot or MGM, for example), you might want to make that the park you choose for supper and seeing the 7/4 evening fireworks. After the fireworks it can take an hour or more to board transportation back to your hotel, but the walk remains quick and easy.

I think it's something everyone should experience once. But I'm not sure I'd be quick to do it again. But that's me.

I agree with rocketriter about park selection. Or just make sure you are in the mindset of "I am cattle" and "This will take a long time" & go with the flow. Attitude is everything.

It's been a long time for us for a 7/4 but I remember the fireworks were very impressive.

Have fun!

We were at WDW last year and our trip included July 4.

We went to EPCOT in the morning, and had a nice morning there and it didn't seem too bad. We left there about 1:30 intending to head to MK. When we got to the monorail station, they were turning away anyone who wasn't an on-site resort guest. As DVC, we were allowed on but found at MK that the park was virtually at capacity! They were turning people away so we went back to the resort (OKW) and hung out a while. We then tried to go to a park later that evening and everything was gridlock. So we ended up back at OKW since we didn't know about viewing the fireworks from the Poly beach or other options.

In all, it is a zoo of a day, and throw in the heat to make it a testy kind of day for many of the guests.

MinnieGirl33....I agree with your comments completely, especially the cattle. :thumbsup2

We do WDW at the 4th every other year--this year is the later trip July 15-30. Last year we were at MK--we got there at opening and did a good number of rides, then just kind of laid low with the shows and other easily overlooked spaces once the crowds filled in. The fireworks at MK were amazing and like nothing I have ever seen before. It was worth it. We found that sitting around the tables and enjoying an ice cream was a great way to let the crowds disperse prior to heading back to the resort.
