July 4 crowds?

Does anyone have experience with crowds at US/IoA over the Independence Day holiday? Doing a split stay - July 1 - 4 at Disney then July 4 - 6 at Universal for WWoHP!

Does anyone have experience with crowds at US/IoA over the Independence Day holiday? Doing a split stay - July 1 - 4 at Disney then July 4 - 6 at Universal for WWoHP!

Holiday weekends are always busy but this year...the crowds will be insane! With WWoHP opening and holiday weekend travellers there's gonna be LONG waits for everything.

It's super crowded, but it's good if you're at Universal with the FOTL pass on the July 4th day (Fri and Sat this year), better than being at Disney on that day without that extra pass. Sea of people the last July 4th we went on. :0( the days earlier in that week leading up to the Holiday were crowded, but not as bad as the day of.

I've been there a couple times during July 4. The parks are packed,but if you stay on site it's not too bad. The good news is the parks are open late.

I agree the key is staying onsite! I went last year on the 3rd and 4th, the 3rd was totally manageable and the 4th was crowded, but no waits if you're onsite! Had no problem finding a spot for the fireworks display!

Busiest weekend of summer, and a mere two weeks after WWoHP opens..... those parks are going to reach capacity by noon. Stay onsite, and take advantage of early entry, and be prepared for Express lines to be 30+ minutes each.

You can no longer go by what crowds were like in the past. Harry Potter is the biggest movie franchise ever, and best selling book series ever and has millions of fans around the world who have been waiting for this park to open. Universal is going to be a nuthouse for the next few years, expecially at peak holiday times.

I'm not saying don't go, (cause if you love Harry Potter, the mere thought of not going ASAP seems like a sin ), but just be prepared for very, very large crowds.

Yep - staying on site July 4 - 6, specifically for WWoHP. 30 minute waits for FOTL doesn't sound bad based on the crowd levels everyone has mentioned! Will go prepared for the worst and hope for the best.
