July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

Tomorrow takes us to less than 100 days. I decided it was time to start my blog for the trip.

http://magictrip0314.blogspot.com/

My oldest has been reading one from the TA and it is getting her excited, she now tells me she will do 4 excursions (not including Gibraltar, that is a freebie) so I guess that is all the ports.

I have seen the Lion King twice and for my money it is one of the most beautifully designed and produced musicals ever. The costumes are spectacular and the way they do the Wildebeast stampede is fabulous.

We will rock you is good if you are going because you like the Queen music, the story is not spectacular though. My in laws took us one year to see that at Christmas and as I was familiar with all the music I did enjoy it but it wouldn't be high on my "must see" list.

regarding whether or not to do two shows, where are you flying in from, are your two days in London completely clear or are you doing any travelling on them? How old are the kids and will they be tired from the journey? If going to see shows is one of the main focuses of your trip then go for it but remember you may be jet lagged and tired early on in the trip so worth considering how mad \ upset you would feel if you were all too tired to fully enjoy one or both shows?!

Perhaps if you are going for evening performances factor in a bit of afternoon downtime like you would when touring WDW and trying to cram in evening entertainment as well.

If you are not sure why not book one show (whichever you decide is top of the list) and then on the day with no booked tickets if you feel up to going to a show then head to Leicester Square to the official London Theatre Ticket booth (there are loads of places selling show tickets but there is only ONE official booth and it is in a pavillion building in the middle of Leicester Square.) and see what is available that night. Several times I have gone on a day trip to London with friends and got show tickets there, we have always had a choices of shows and a variety of prices of ticket available so unless you are an uber planner that idea might work for you for at least one of your nights.

I wanted to know about this too...

Shame, I was hoping there might have been another one squeezed in. I do hope I can either make reservations for this or get one when we board, I thought it was quite nice but my DH loved it and it is on his list of "must do's"

We are arriving early and touring Paris first (taking the Eurostar from Paris to London) my girls are 14 and 11. Both shows have matinees that are options - would that be better? I like the idea of just booking one and then seeing what might be available the second day if we are up to it. We are staying at the Marriott County Hall - should we consider how far the theatre is from our hotel? Someone on the UK Board suggesting using www.lastminute.com to purchase tickets - have you used this booking agent?

I posted this on the main thread, and wanted to make sure everyone on our cruise saw the posts. Overstock.com has PacSafe bags on sale for 50-75% off. I got the MeshSafe M200 and the Metrosafe 300. They arrived today and they are going to be great for the trip. Also, if you are planning to stay at Park Plaza County Hall or Park Plaza Westminster Bridge (where Disney transportation leaves from), if you make your own reservation and enter "CARLSONF" in the promotion box, you will get a friends and family rate. The rate is only good on rooms sleeping 2 people though. Hope these tips help!

I bought a small bag over my shoulder which was fantastic for Med 07 by PacSafe... so I will use it for this cruise trip or use it in Barcelona which much safer...

My father in law decided to fly home with my husband after the cruise... so just me and two kids with mother in law will stay in Barcelona for 4 nights...

With your pictures you would be fine.:)

My oldest daughter is so excited to read other peoples blogs, she just loves this one, but I am scared when she reads about them doing a back to back it is going to give her ideas.

I have not shared this one with my oldest but I am sure it will get her more interested in Barcelona.

Hi all....long time no post..:lovestruc
so, after a bit of catching up....
London Shows...we went to see Wicked last week...fantastic. Matinees only on Wed and sat though :)

Volcanoes...wow....we have been in lockdown...weird...supermarkets starting to run out of exotic foods..like fresh green beans! who knew they flew here.
Shame about all the ppl stuck o/s..but better safe than sorry.
Reservations on board. we havent PIF yet...keep hoping the ££ will rally...think we are kidding ourselves :headache: the good old days of 2 for 1 are LONG gone:eek: might just bite the bullet and get it over with. we havent given much thought to excursion tbh...although my eldest DD is a history buff and fancies the ww2 stuff in Normandy, although i think she has a school trip there next year anyway. but as its only a half day, and very early in the cruise, we might to it. atleast..SHE might...lol
Palo brunch is a must though...we loved it last year. Better than dinner for our money

FE's...check. List in progress? Cut off in June wasnt it?
DIS meet, definatly...

right...back to other stuff:laundy:

Sounds like fun going to see shows.

I guess the exchange rate is not good for you, I think one time I went to London it was 1 pound=2.2 CAD. I just checked my credit card bill and the train tickets I got on the weekend went at 1.58.

I don't think there has been any additions to the FE exchange since I posted last month, cut off date was Jun 15 I think. If anyone is interested let me know, looks like it will be a small group so it should not be too much work. I ordered some things and I got them last week, and they turned out nicely.

:yay::cool1: UNTIL THE ENGLAND TO ESPANA CRUISE :cool1::yay::banana:

:thumbsup2  :woohoo:DCL HERE WE COME!!! :woohoo:  :thumbsup2

It is still a little bit chilly but the skies are blue and the sun is shining here - with the school summer term the weather has improved :)

My oldest started full time at school this week and is loving it which is great! I love the summer term, it goes so quickly with lots to do so the cruise will come around nice and quickly.

We are going camping over the bank holiday weekend and then all of the children in Isabelles baby group have their birthdays in the next 6 weeks so there will be a lot of parties and fun time to look forward to. By then it will be hardly any time left until we set sail!

Hi everyone,

Was wondering if anyone thought it might be a good idea to set up a facebook group (I've noticed a number of the other cruisemeets do this)?

If anyone is interested I would be happy to create the group on FB.

It might get everyone chatting more?

Just a thought.

I would be happy to join a facebook group. Be sure to post us all a link!

I am fine with facebook, just starting out so don't really know what I am doing.

We had one for the cruise we did in March, I found it actually split the group and there was less activity on the DIS thread, but that may have been just that group of people.

I hadn't thought about it splitting the group :scared1: I hope that doesn't happen. Am just sooo excited about the cruise and thought it might get us all chatting a bit more.

I've created a group for anyone who wants to join
