July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

I am not on your cruise, at least not yet! :0 )

I have traveled the coast of Andalucia aka: Costa del Sol. You guys are going to love Gibralter aka: "GIB" there are lots of folks who will give you tours but when we went twice, we found that a local teenager - he's probably grown up and moved away now - he gave us the locals tour, took us to the "irish pubs" on the rock. I had a gold bracelet stolen by the monkeys on the tour at the top of the rock but hey, it was fun. What for LICE from them, it's ok to let them jump on your and have your picture taken but make sure you check your self over. NO free riders here! I think it was St. Michaels Caves we visited as well very nice. Great day trip. Take a cab to the top and back down, tips are accepted here and they'll stop half way down and then walk the rest. It's fun!

If you want more info - let me know. Malaga and Marbella are amazing! Sean Connery lives in Marbella and Antonio Banderas I beleive is from Madrid. :)

Adios!

did everyone...read about disney forgoing ..alaska? * that was
our first choice....so now, we're very happy we're going on this one.

..oh, & the sad posting..over missing a christmas cruise due to
a medical condtion?...whenever, i read others having to work
so hard...really make me feels lucky..how lil', we have to
worry about.

[ i try to give "encouragments"...as my work is mental health,
but...that is such a tricky subject. mental health..what i've
learn..has lil'to do with being crazy..rather, finding all the
happiness..you can...in life. ]

...& the reason for this cruise? ..is to go back in time, & re~trace
...some of the journeys/jollys :earboy2: . there was no disneyland

paris when i was there, pixiedust:

..why garmisch?....it's tours!

munich...the beautiful capital of bavaria, by hummels. & holfbrauhaus,
the royal court brewery....free sampling, :stir:

a lil'tibit...what i got my wife...for a wedding present..was the apple~
tree girl, $30.

innsbruck, austria. the 16th century..tyrolean capital. also
mittenwald, germany. it isn't hard to imagine oneself..in the middle
ages. esp., when :drinking1 . nooo, not my birthday, neither-

the neuschwanstein castle...the fairytale castle...sits high on the side
of tegelrock mountain opposite of hohenschwangau castle built by
king ludgwig II 's father, king maximillian.

the linderhof castle..a retreat into a fantastic dream world...of
gadgets...like a dining - table which could be raised to the bed chamber
through a trap-door from the kitchen below. the blue grotto with a cave
~lake and a swan boat. * note, these descriptions were from my
tour handouts... a long time before.."the lil'mermaid-:rolleyes1

the the partnach gorge. an area of majestic rock & ice formations,
and one of the more remarkable sights..of the bavarian alps.

* regarding tours..into austria, civilan clothing must be worn. :joker:

...garmisch is a really, neat village to explore., by bicycle.

There's at least 3 others that I know about, maybe 4 families who are booked for 7/18 & 7/30......I'm hoping I can do both. My family is booked for 7/18 and my husband and I are doing 7/30 alone. I hope it all works out!! We LOVED the 11 day Med in 2007!

Laura, yes, but Andrew's wife Susan can't get off for long enough, so I think he will just stick with the 7/18.

:goodvibes Thank you for the warm welcome.

I am glad to see that there are a few others that are doing the 3 B2B's with us.

I ordered some travel books from amazon today. I can't wait for them to get here...so I can start planning.

We did the Transalantic in May of 2007. We loved it!! It was so much fun to go some place NEW.... even the cruises staff was excited!! At the time I really wanted to stay on the ship and do the Mediterranean Cruise, but could not afford it.

My DD 9 :tinker:can't wait to see the Barbary Apes (in Gibraltar) again. On our 2007 trip, she got to hold one and fed it peanuts! It truly was the high light of her trip. She has talked about it almost every day since.

I know what you mean about the Barbary apes -- we were on the August repo (and did a Med cruise too) and Gibraltar was wonderful!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We too are looking forward to Gibraltar. It is great that we can feed the Barbary apes as I am always feeding all of the outside animals (birds, cats, squirrels, and chipmunks).:thumbsup2

You have to let your guide help you, though -- they are wild animals and the guide will know which ones to approach and tell you how to feed them, etc.

Yes, our driver :drive: gave my DD the peanuts and showed her who to feed. It really was cool. We have some really great pictures of her and the apes.

If you are not an animal lover --like my oldest DD. It might not be for you. My oldest DD (15) streamed :scared1:and hid behind me every time any of the apes moved! I thought she was going to have a heart attack-- when an ape jumped on her sister's shoulders!

We are alson looking forward to the stop in Portugal. Has anyone been there?

No, this is a new country for me and I am also very much looking forward to it. From some of my preliminary research, it looks as though Lisbon is walkable from the port, although it is hilly and it might be best to take a streetcar up to the top and walk your way down . . .
