There are 5 excursions I really want to get.
They are mild ones that do not have a lot of travelling - I find it difficult sitting in a bus for longer than an hour!

Like you not really bothered about Palo have done it lots before and I can try when we board the ship.

Hope others are like you and have booked privatly too:rolleyes1

If you are ontime on the 29th you should get what you want, save them into your preferences on the DCL website now it speeds it up.

Not sure if this will work but these are the other ships that are in port with us. Looks like only Naples & Civitavecchia have mulitple ships!

OK Palos brunch, I had a call they will let me know about 30 days before, if we have the private dinning area, I have requested Brunch first sea day, for thoose of you who have been in contact, you cannot take this as guaranteed, DCL will confirm near the time if they can do it, but they havent said No!

I need your DCL confirmation numbers and names as I lost these last year, thoose in contact since yesterday no problem.

Spaces 14 in total.

Hi Everyone!!!
Carley is also enjoying emailing Gretchen! Anyone else out there with "tweens"- please sends their emails if they want to be cyber pals before the cruise.
Andrew- I still cant PM (or am doing something wrong) although I think I've posted about 9 times now, so maybe you can send me your daughter's email so Carley can write to her too!
Please count us in on the grab bag if not too late- maybe the kids can have their own grab bag exchange???
We are arriving in Barcelona (from a night in Paris 25th arrival) on the 27th- and spending an extra night upon return. I think we are staying at the Hesperia or Hilton, I forgot what the travel agent booked-
Will check in later... taking Carley to dance class......
Sallie

So, if they won't let us know til 30days before, I was thinking of trying to book a brunch on my own just in case. But then will that mess up the group brunch? especially since DCL only allows each party to book once? Should I play it safe and not book anything and see if the group brunch comes through?

Try and book your own, if our one comes through you then have two options.

DCL phoned me, I am on their list, now they said they would confirm at 30 days, I read into it they didnt say no! IE I am sure they would have said already booked or no you cannot.

Possible if a VIP contacts them then we loose out.

I have asked for BRUNCH first sea day, with the other sea days as back up, if that helps you plan.

I need DCL Confirmation numbers by PM, of all the cruisers again if you are interested.

IE if you have sent since Thursday you are ok, if you sent last year, please send again!

Hi everyone -

I have a question - what is considered a tween? I just realized that my youngest is going to be 14 on the trip but she is rather on the shy side and probably closer to a 12/13 in naivety (spelling?) Anyway, not sure on the youngster group but maybe I can get a shout out there and hopefully have her e-mail someone? I missed most of the posting on this age group but would love to have someone's name to give her. Let me know either by PM or here and I'll try and get back to everyone.

Second - I'm excited - just confirmed our Hotel in Barcelona - we are staying in 2 triple rooms in the Royal Ramblas - I'm hoping that its as good as they say - consensus of the older two were that they wanted to stay on a 'hip' street rather than an old folks street - this made me pause as what does that make me? :confused3 IDK either but at least now that I'm getting them a world phone (thanks Dan! :thumbsup2 ) - I can rest assured they'll be able to get me in case something happens - this is a big compromise for me as my oldest is turning 21 just before the cruise and is 6'2". My oldest DD will have turned 20 also just before the cruise but is only 5' 1/2" - her friend who is older by 7 months is only 4'11"- anyway, they want to hit at least one club just to be able to say that they went to a club in Europe:laughing: I don't remember ME being like that at all!

OK - on to our post cruise stay - :faint: by the time this cruise is other - I'm going to need a vacation all by myself to recover from all this planning.

Andrew - another ? - I have saved my 'wishes' on DCL - as this will be the 1st time booking excursions online - can they be brought up faster by the DCL member or is it just more convenient? Gosh - I tell you - technophobic and pathetic - the 'TICs' are going to be the death of me for sure! :faint" Also, are you doing the private tours on the island via DCL? Or did you book off-ship? (Is that even a word? Makes sense?) OK - looking forward to hearing from anyone - have afun day!

HI Laura!!
When I refer to "tweens" I think it refers to kids between 11-14 ?? My daughter will be 13 August 29th. She too is a little shy and very sweet for this rather trying age. I began asking if anyone had children near her age on the cruise since she is an only child. I know she will want to venture off with kids her own age from time to time (under close supervision of course-) and I am trying not to hear the famous words " I don't want to go to the _____ by myself". She is already emailing one child and has just sent another email all the way to England! What a wonderful learning experience this is and we haven’t even left our hometown yet! She was so excited to be writing to someone across the ocean, as well someone only a few states away! :grouphug:
Wouldn’t it be great if they all got know one another and became friends even after the trip! I met a girl in Italy when I was 16, and I still write to her now 32 years later!
So, please, if your daughter would like to join the tween email group just send me a PM and Carley will write her and anyone else ASAP!
We are also looking for families to eat with- we are on the second seating- still not sure if that was a good choice or not -
Sallie:wave:

Hey all..............looks like we missed a lot of posts again!!!

I am also anxious about the excursions bookings..........we also don't want to spend all day on busses.............I want to stay as close to the water as possible....thx for the tip Andrew (about saving preferences.) I have to go back to my guide books and do further research so I can make our final decisions..........

Happy Spring Break to all!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Hi Suzy, :welcome: back

Helen and all,

Thanks for the kind welcome back and good advice. I feel like I haven't been paying attention to cruise planning and it's all sneaking up on me. It seems we just got back from our NYE week at WDW - I cant believe it's almost april!

I have so many questions - forgive me if they have been asked lots of times, I've been trying to catch up on this thread but it is alot! :goodvibes

- what day can I call for excursions and palos? I read all the stuff about the time/12:01am EST, right? We are in PST in California. We are concierge and castaway club and we have already paid in full.

- In terms of the 'booking stuff for multiple rooms' problems - how do people reccommend best to deal with that? With have four rooms but will be trying to book mostly all the same stuff - there's only one city where we are splitting up the group for excursions.

- saving in your wishes list - is that for palos also or just for excursions?

- are there already some DIS meets planned? I read the thread about a palos meet - any others?

- is there going to be a grab bag swap? We are happy to contribute if so - do we have a total of how many people so far? Is it one bag per family or per person?

- If anyone else also has little kids like we do (8,8,5,5,2) - I'd love to hear about what excursions you booked and why. We want them to get a taste of the cities, but dragging them around on long excursions will be no good for any of us. They are well-traveled and are pretty good on the move, but any 90 minute or two hour bus ride each way is just not going to be a good plan for us. I think we will do private car/tour for Rome - it will be easier to be on our schedule with the little ones.

- Also, is anyone else doing the casino in monte carlo? DH and I are thinking about leaving kids on the ship and going out that night for that. Do they have texas hold em? :rotfl2:

- La Spezia "beach resort break" - sounds like they just take you to a hotel and drop you on the beach. Is anyone doing an Atlantis like thing in the Med? We got a room at Atlantis on our DCL cruise in '00 and it was an awesome day.

Thanks for any and all help,

Susy
