A Jeep on fire has been driven at the main terminal building at Glasgow Airport, police have confirmed.
Eyewitnesses have described a Jeep Cherokee being driven at speed towards the building with flames coming out from underneath.

They have also described seeing two Aisan men, one of whom was on fire, who had been in the car.

The airport has been evacuated and all flights suspended following the incident.

Are you serious? I need to put CNN on. Some days I have no clue to what is going on. I try to watch the news 5 mins. in the am and a few minutes in the pm. I try to read the paper also - at least the headlines. Unfortunately, it's always bad news :scared1:

Just read on the "All in one place- Med Excursion thread" that if you are planning on visiting the beach in Sardinia, you might want to bring insect repellent. Someone did say that they were glad they did. A tidbit from one post said that Sardinians don't fish because of the volume of mosquitoes on the water. I wonder if we'll be affected? We're doing the Archepelago excursion. Better bring it just in case.

Maryann

Thanks Maryann, I must have missed this reply - unless it was today. Another item for the list.

It just gets worse and worse, they've now evacuated the hospital where they took the injured arrested man and they've also closed Newcastle and Blackpool airports :scared1: :3dglasses

I hope my dd will not see this. Last August when we were at WDW - the day before leaving we had the explosive "airport" problem. No liquids, phones, etc. My dd was literally sick that day and until we got home. Everyone was talking about it wherever we were. There was no escaping it. It was a rough 24 hours. She also tried to convince me to take Amtrak down to WDW this Monday since we are flying over "water" to get to Spain soon.

We can't let them win by putting fear in us - but it's something to think about regardless.

I think we are going to need a few extra drinks to knock us out.

I SOOOOOOOOO completely agree with this comment. WE MUST NOT LET THEM WIN BY PUTTING OFF OUR NORMAL PLANS AND ARRANGEMENTS

Having said that I have just confirmed with DCL that if you are unable to board at Barcelona due to interupted travel arrangments that are beyond your control as long as you let them know as soon as possible then they will NOT cancel your cruise and they WILL allow you to board at the next available port i.e Palemo.

DH and I are going to evaluate the situation on Monday 23rd July and if we feel it prudent then we will fly out to Barcelona on Friday 27th instead of Saturday 28th.

Agree it was fantastic - now I'm looking forward to Christmas;)

Really good, did you see the lady with the red fingernails pick up the Masters ring? Now she is a lucky, ( lucky lucky) lady.

The Christmas one will be of titanic proportions whilst Martha has a holiday. Its not good bye!!!!

Just as a quick update, Britian has been put on "Critical" alert status as, and I quote from news sources, "there is a high likelyhood of further attacks"

We are praying for the safety of everyone and that the authorities will thwart every attempt the terrorists make.

I have tried that keyboard and found it difficult to get used to. If I use my office computer, the chair and keyboard are set for the right height for me and I don't have any problems.

They are difficult to get used to - but it's worth the effort. However, it sounds like you have a good setup for you - and that's what's most important.

Good Morning Everyone
I was out all day yesterday standing on line with my brother for the new iphone! He was on line from 9-am, I joined him with a picnic lunch at 1pm- they opened the apple store at 6pm with a big fanfare. I have been playing with it for hours now- its unbelievable!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: I think it will come in very handy on the trip. I am going to download tv shows, and a few movies for the plane- and it has an unbelievable gps system... I will surly be able to fine any fountain within seconds!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Ok I m going back to check about a thousand posts and will reply to any I need to in the next hour or so!!!!

I missed you all so the past day and a half!!!! Now I will always be able to check in and keep up with my new toy!!!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'm tempted -so tempted. But I suspect I'll wait for the next generation.

Julie- It was worth every penny- I have had the same phone for three years now- just a plain ordinary cell phone- I was one of those people who thought things like this are ridiculous- but I cant believe how fantastic this device is- We are going to a communion party today- we will probably be sitting in traffic for 2 hours or so- now I have the world at my fingertips- all my music, two movies, my podcasts of our cruise, which I have not had time to watch- but now I will since I cant clean, do laundry, or other things that need to be done around the house, in the car, without feeling guilty!!!

Its an early birthday gift from my one in a million husband who you will love- he is a great all around human !!!!

I believe, and don't quote me on this, that the next generation iPhone will be able to do laundry and other household chores, so you'll have even less reason to feel guilty.

VAT is Value added tax, we have it all around Europe, here in the UK its 17.5% and is included in all the prices you see, its a bit like sales tax in the USA although my experience of yours is it is added on after the price tag so you never exactly know what you are going to pay.

Now our tours will I think be subject to VAT, I cannot claim it back i am from Europe and so anywhere in Europe I pay local tax, and I do not have to do customs because I can pay anywhere.

You can claim back so if we can get bills in your name, you will get a refund, around Europe its up to 25% in places.

From my experience, the paperwork to receive the refund (and even determine if you're entitled to one) was inspired by our IRS - i.e., it's so complicated that most people never bother.

Early reports apart from the two Asian men involved no one hurt, these men were on flames and had their clothes burnt off.

I have no problem with terrorists who burn/blow themselves up. It's the fact that they often take people with them that annoys me.

Watching the news just leads to stress and depression. It's much healthier to ignore this stuff. Watching the nightly news by Jon Stewart or Steven Colbert most nights is more than sufficient.

Sorry to be such a downer it's just really struck a chord and I guess with all our holidays coming up it's just a little to close to home.

It is a worry, but three weeks is a long time, no one has been hurt, ( someones on our side) as I am aware, and you cannot give in, we all will have a GREAT holiday in a few weeks time.

I do agree what they want is terror, to terrorize we need to go on.

The only positive to all this is that we probably are safer flying now because of the increased security. It seems that every once in a while we need to be reminded to be vigilant. Unfortunately, it is a random terrorist incident that sadly does it.
So I agree Anna & Izzy, we can't let them win and prevent us from living our lives the way we want to. It's in God's hands.

I have had it a number of times, last year, I flew out of the UK, two days after the big airport security 'liquids' issue and arrests, we had a eight hour delay at Gatwick, but took off safe.

One month after 9/11 in October we flew to WDW it was empty and few people there, but we still had a holiday.

The Prime minister has just been on TV to say dont panic but watch.
