VAT is Value added tax, we have it all around Europe, here in the UK its 17.5% and is included in all the prices you see, its a bit like sales tax in the USA although my experience of yours is it is added on after the price tag so you never exactly know what you are going to pay.

Now our tours will I think be subject to VAT, I cannot claim it back i am from Europe and so anywhere in Europe I pay local tax, and I do not have to do customs because I can pay anywhere.

You can claim back so if we can get bills in your name, you will get a refund, around Europe its up to 25% in places.

So, Andrew, if something is 20 euros, that's exactly what we pay? The VAT is already included in the price?

Do we know if DCL is including VAT on the price of their excursions?
Maryann

Yes, unless they want you to buy them something, then you are the best dad in the world, for 5 mins.

That is absolutely the truth! Although I do find it gets better. Now that DS & DD are adults, they just shake their head or roll their eyes. They did get more accepting of my nuttiness! Then, we don't go out in public together much anymore. Wonder why????:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

In the UK it is included in the price and I think in the main it is always included on the land, they will put signs up if not, I went to Spain recently in May and VAT there was included.

Now I think DCL will 'add' it to bar bills, Dinner wine, etc, Shore trips by DCL not sure, it might be included, you will have to ask guest services.

But ask for a bill each time and keep it, also each country has different rates and you have to pile them up country by country.

See the Med DVD.

I hope we have good servers as well, they make the difference, I have been generally lucky the 14 night repo ones were great Mark from South Africa and Ben from Australia.

In 2006 Prakash from India was great, he got me and everyone an extra curry one night with popadoms etc.

ick.... curry!!!!:crazy2: yuck!!! cant even smell that spice... I will be sitting next to Mrs. Porter across the table from you if curry comes near :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I think we will be close to dinner time at Villafrance, maybe Rome, on our return from the trips.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

But we can't get it back on consumables like food, right? We probably won't be able to get it back on tours because it's for services, not goods that we can take home. What do you think?

Hello Helen (Mrs Jobba1)

How are you?

Did I tell you about the stranger dog was standing outside my door??

(Well he was melt my heart) My daughter was telling me that the dog was outside at the door well i went and see the friendly dog so I just leave it then at later I checked it and still there, that make me wonder. So I took him in my house turned out he was a lovely dog, very good manner and very healthy dog. He never once barking?? I phoned police and they asked me to keep it over night so I decided to keep him for one night and he was so lovely dog as he is brown ginger cross collie and I took the photos of him. Next day, I phoned dog warden to take him. Dog warden came and took him away, I was so guilty and know that he was not my dog but beautiful dog. After that, I was thinking so I decided to phoned dog and cat's home and they told me that owner had been phoning and they picked up the dog. Oh bless them!! that make me feel happy now. They was telling me to thank me for phoning the warden dog!!

Happy news is it??

Scottishwee35

Deb thats great news! Well done you

Ok, everyone, I'm off to the dog show. A 3 day event (Saturday, Sunday, Monday). I probably won't be checking in. If someone is trying to reach me, just pm me and I will probably see it.

Good luck-hope it goes well

Yes, Helen, you are absolutely correct. Credit where credit is due!! I've been trying to go over basic words each day, hoping they sink into my thick head!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Maryann

Yes confirmation the same time,

the copy and paste was with help of Kelsie at Dreams.

At this point I would like to acknowledge the great help of Kelsie and Dreams in supporting me in obtaining the group brunch she did a lot of work for me, ( again) she was the one who also obtained a great room for me on the E/bound repo in 2008, when the cruise was released and the sales went mad.

Thanks Kelsie and thanks Andrew;)

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

you got that right !!!
Yes my kids had Daddies Dollars ( this year Euros) they earn it for good behavior and spend it on holiday.

Fresh food no, as far as I am aware thats Zero rated VAT, anything from a supermarket, Meals out yes, sometimes this is confusing as McDonald's, fruit or water Zero rated, but eat in Burger has VAT. But they might not offer a receipt.

Yes, Sallie, we're really going to have to try to figure this VAT out. Although many people on the previous cruises said it is very hard to find the place redeem the credit once you collect all the receipts. We'll talk about this.

Glad you did shopping! What a great way to pass the time while waiting!

Andrew,

When you say "zero rated" does that mean they don't add VAT or you can't get it back?

Maryann

Julie- It was worth every penny- I have had the same phone for three years now- just a plain ordinary cell phone- I was one of those people who thought things like this are ridiculous- but I cant believe how fantastic this device is- We are going to a communion party today- we will probably be sitting in traffic for 2 hours or so- now I have the world at my fingertips- all my music, two movies, my podcasts of our cruise, which I have not had time to watch- but now I will since I cant clean, do laundry, or other things that need to be done around the house, in the car, without feeling guilty!!!

Its an early birthday gift from my one in a million husband who you will love- he is a great all around human !!!!

You know Sallie I tought of you this morning when I saw the news and it was showing poeple in NewYork cueing for the new phones.

Congrats on getting one - I'd love to see it.

I am getting really excited the closer we are getting!:goodvibes

DCL will give you claim forms and instructions, there is a starting limit of Euros 90.
