July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days! Part 3

I sent a PM we would love to have the 7/29 reservation. WE were able to book day 11 but would rather have the 1st sea day.

Sandra

Sorry everyone, my sister is taking the reservation

Question to all:
DH and I have a brunch scheduled the same time as the DIS#2 brunch. We have never had a meal at Palo. Can you tell me the difference between being at a regular table and being in the private room (other than the great DIS people:cool1: )
If we cancel our reservation, is there any chance that our group one will be cancelled due to some "special people" requesting it? I just don't want to lose out.
Thanks!

The private dining room is off to itself, while all of the other tables are in an open are, some being by windows. When you are in the private dining room you have to walk a little further to the brunch buffet, depending on where your table is... Do not cancel your reservation until you are sure you are on a group list---once you cancel it, it will be gone!

I am on the DIS#2 list - I just don't know what to do - it would be fun to be with everyone - but if we can get a good table by a window - and the though of having to walk further to get our food . . . , such hard decisions!!! Any other ideas/suggestions? Is the normal dining room special? How about the private one? Anyone been there before?

You can see pictures of it on the web site. The regular Palo dining room is lovely, I think. In my opinion the private dining room is an isolated room with out the special warmth of Palo---just my opinion--been there approximately 16 times(the regular dining room), so take for what it's worth!:)

Do you have a dinner booked at Palo? Maybe you would rather have dinner for 2 and brunch with a group!

I've never been in the private room, but I agree Harole Ann, the dining room is wonderful! The view is spectacular. When we were in the California Grille at the Contemporary we marveled to the waiter how much it looked like Palo. It seems they modeled Palo after the Cal. Grille! No wonder we like it so much!

Sandra--That would be neat if you could get that one because that is the time we have and maybe we could all end up together!:cool1:

That is very true, Maryann---maybe that is why Garry wants to go there for his birthday this year!!:bday: We have always enjoyed the California Grille!

MaryAnn, thanks for clearing that up for Harole Ann. I don't want her to panic on my account. :lmao: :lmao:

Sandra

Going out to dinner. It's too hot to cook, they are already in the car so I have to run.

Sandra

I guess I was confused because I got so much of my hair cut today, that my good sense must have gone with it!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

No - can't seem to get a dinner - DH and I are really worried about gaining 50 pounds too - I hate how I feel after eatting like that - especially with an 11 day cruise.

Well, I think I may keep my individual reservation - anyone else want to take the extra 2 on the group res?

Don't worry about the pounds---take the steps instead of the elevators. You will probably get there quicker anyway!:)

Does anyone know where we could see pictures of the private dining room at Palo and/or could someone describe it (ie are there windows, is it one long table one round table or several smaller tables, is it stuffy and crowded? do you feel claustrophobic?

Please let me know,
THAnks,
Sandra

Look at www.disneycruiseline.com and then you can check out the site for adults and you will find Palo. There are a lot of small tables and it is not crowded. It is very nice. There is a bar and an open view of the kitchen. It is surrounded by glass with a beautiful sea view during High Tea or Brunch. Early daylight hours dinner would also have a nice view.

I know what the main dining room is like we've been there several times. But I'm wondering what the private dining room is like.

Woops---it's the hair cut again---:confused3 I misread! I don't think there are any pictures of the private dining room. I think it is one long table and there is the one window that looks out onto the deck. It is not extremely roomy....sorry for the mistake!:wizard:

Hi, Harole Ann,
Don't worry about it. I found some pictures and it looks nice. I'll try to post the website:
http://travel.webshots.com/photo/1089362409026317863EVklix?vhost=travel

there are a few photos there.

Sandra

I have to run. I'm supposed to be picking up DS15 from a party at 10 pm and it's a 15 minute drive. Not that he'll be upset if I'm late but I feel bad for the parents who have had him and several others since 5pm.

I'll be back later,

Sandra
