Great Picture!! It just makes me even more anxious for the cruise, as if that is possible:yay:
Those character breakfasts are so much fun!!

Now we all know that I am not the only one on line... Where is Admiral Fluff??

Oh My - when I was last able to check out the board it was page 459 or around there. I have over 100 pages to read and catch up on.

I've been away because we have had a lot of really bad news around town these last few weeks. I've been trying to help out with flowers, cards, etc. We had a gentleman lose his life the other day in a horrible car accident. From the accident scene, which I was at just after it happened, I think he had a heart attack or something. His car went off a cliff but there was no evidence that he tried to stop.

On top of that, one of our football coaches learned he had prostate and colon cancer in April. They started exploring options and scheduled him for surgery last week, on his birthday too. The night before he got a call that they can't do surgery because it has spread to his lymphnodes. They are now talking about 'alternatives to prolong the inevitable'. This man isn't family, but it hit hard. There are so many kids in this town that he has helped, and he really wants to continue coaching this year.

So - the last few weeks have been a bit of a bummer. time to cheer myself up and see what you guys have been chatting about.

I am sorry to hear you have had a rough time these last few weeks. :grouphug:

If you can read and try to catch up - some of these threads recently have been pretty funny - they will put a smile on your face - just release a little stress.

Oh Andrew, this is the best!!!!!

What makes it twice as funny is that this is the one problem for teachers. When nature calls, it usually has to wait!!!!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Maryann

Maryann,

The teacher's study should solve that problem - do you guys have a suggestion box at your school?

Just wondering if anyone has made their t-shirt yet? I liked Sandra's list to buy extra shirts so when she puts it on backwards, yes that would also be me---that is why I will put Garry in charge of that job. :rotfl2:

Suggestion boxes don't solve problems in our district...don't know about yours!!

Wait, just noticed close to pirate - I am sure it won't be me - congrats. to the winner :)

Thanks Anna! I can't tell you how many times I have been soooo close and missed!! It just must have been my night.

I think it is because JoAnn went to see POC tonight that I got
mypirate: ARR!!

Well, since Anna is tired and I have a pirate:, I think I will just take a nice shower and get ready for bed!

As usual it is a baseball weekend---1 game tonight--we won--:cheer2: 1 game tomorrow and 2 games Sunday! It is a good thing I grew up on a baseball field (my dad was a coach) and my mom & I never missed a game. I guess that is why it is my favorite sport with all of the fond memories:love: .

Just want to wish a Happy Father's Day to all of those Dad's out there!:sunny:

What a lovely family you have Lynnise!

Maryann,

We have plenty of restrooms for teachers, the problem is timing nature's call with a prep period. Kind of hard to leave the kids to go to the loo!
:headache: :headache:

Congrats on the pirate: Harole Ann!:yay:

Thank you Lisa for helping me to post our family's picture!

I am enjoying seeing your family and all the others!!! I hope we will recognize each other in about a month!!!

Have a great weekend!

IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!

IMPORTANT NOTE

For the good people of the great US of A.

EUROPE

HAS

LOO PAPER.
(and soft as well)

We are not in the dark ages here,(well apart from Capri-rearrange the letters to confirm, starting with I C***.):rotfl2:

Yes, but here in the U.S. we have toilets, not loos, so we need toilet paper, not loo paper. I think just as SallieP posted the detailed specifications of toilet paper, someone should post the detailed specifications on loo paper, so we can accuarately determine whether it is safe to use on our trip, or if we need to import it.

Also, we need to begin a debate on the correct way to load the TP/LP into a bracket - is it roll out or roll in, or just leave it sitting on the toilet/loo because we're too lazy to juggle that weird spindle thing and put it into the bracket at all.

I wonder if the cabin staff on DCL are consistent? Do you think they have rules during training on which directly to use when setting up the TP/LP?

Since we are so enamored with our beloved TP, I though, as a teacher, we should read up on the facts..
Toilet paper facts <<

.... many facts omitted

One key factor that was missed in this discussion is "throw strength". That's a measure of the maximum force you can use when throwing the roll part so that it will unroll correctly instead of tearing when using the roll to TP a house, tree or car.

My hubby, well being a software developer and old school bbs supporter understands what the DIS is all about. We joke that I am 'doing research'. By nature he tends to be a bit of a hermit and would be perfectly OK if we only stuck to ourselves. He doesn't mind meeting new people or hanging out with new people, but he doesn't seek it out.
I on the other hand, can strike up a conversation with the person in line in front of me. He cringes at such behavior. But when you are standing in line for Space Mountain, or POTC, or.... it's easy to talk to everyone around you.

Old school bbs supporter.... Hmmm.... Ask him if he ever heard of a Northern California BBS called Stuart II that was popular in the early 80's (related sites in the area included Pyrzqxgl and Temple of Zuul). It's a long shot - more likely he was involved with The Well....

my mom applied just to get her name changed in feb. still no passport.:headache:

Uhoh... Didn't you know that only likely terrorists change their names? Hopefully that won't delay things beyond the current level of absurdity...

When my mom was just out of HS she went to work at one of the local hotels in housekeeping. There she learned the 'proper' way to fold towels, and hang TP. It's supposed to be set so that it comes up over the top of the roll and then hangs down. and you fold the last square so that it makes a point. Then you put a sticker on it to 'dress it up'.

But at our house - hehe. I bought this nice fancy looking tp holder for the mstr bath. The problem is that you have to unscrew a knob on either end, and then of course redo it to put it all back together. It takes at least 3-5 minutes to change a roll. So we usually just grab it out of the spare roll can that sits in the bathroom. I know it's lazy, but when I redid the guest bathroom a few weekends ago, i moved this darn contraption into that room. Gets used less, so less changes.

I'll have to ask - I know that most of the sites he showed me when I met him dealt with sharing code (legal and not). He was one of those kids that was a hacker for the fun of it, not to hurt anything. They would get something new and see how long it took them to crack it or at least tear it apart. Paid off for most of them. Some of his friends went to work with the FBI or CA State Police. They move in on drug busts etc and stop the program that was meant to delete the harddrive.

(ok - shh - there are certain stories I don't want my kids knowing. that dad can hack is one of them. Jumping off a dam 200 ft into the water was another.)
