I need to try to get these done on Friday- Anyone else??:upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow ?

I'm trying not to commit my kids to anything they haven't chosen themselves -- I'm sure they will make lots of friends on the ship, but I don't want to sign them up without their knowledge. . .

You are doing such a lot of work to make this cruise special, Sallie . . .

Some of you have been feeling guilty about leaving pets. WEll the guilt is really setting in for leaving my daughter. It's getting much worse the closer we get to the cruise. If I had her passport I would have already called and added her onto our room. DH would be VERY unhappy with me as this is supposed to be just for the two us. But I feel terrible leaving her. ANd I know it's only going to get worse. Sandra

:grouphug:

So sorry you are going through this. We took our first ever trip without the kids last year and although it was difficult leaving them, it was a good thing for our marriage. One of my friends told me "Happy parents make for happy children". Good luck with a tough situation.

On the other front, I totally agree. Life is getting in the way of my trip planning!!

Susy

JoAnn,
Don't give up. Remember he's leaving earlier than you are. Just get packed and then post away. Let's see 1000 posts at 40 sec. each that's just over 11 hours of posting :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :lmao: :lmao: You can do it!!

Sandra
I gotta get a life!!!:confused3

My DH and I have left our kids on several trips and it is the hardest right before you leave and at the end of the trip. So force yourself on the plane and then it gets better. You will have a wonderful vacation!!

I feel the same way about my mom, so I really understand the leaving them thing.

Do you have an international cell #? I can give you mine via PM if you want or you can use mine to call her and I can let you know how much when I get the bill. It is $1.49 per minute.....much better the the $8 or so a minute Disney charges.

Let me know how to help and buck up...I am kinda glad I am not the only one who will be missing someone almost too much......
Lisa

JoAnn, I bookmarked your blog and can't wait to read more!!!! Isn't this exciting!!!

Sandra,
Hope you have a good meeting. In a way it's good to be occupied. Makes the time pass more quickly.

I know how you feel about leaving the kids. DH & I would always try to squirrel time away (even for just a weekend) when the kids were little. I don't know who cried more when we left, me or the kids. Anyway, as I look back on it, I realize that one of the reasons our marriage is so strong is that WE always made time for eachother, to rekindle what attracted us to eachother in the first place. These little snippits that we set aside over the years allowed us to grow together, not apart. Now that DD&DS are adults, we still have so much in common and enjoy just doing things together. Empty nest syndrome??? You've got to be kidding!!!! Although I love my kids and we are really close, DH is my best friend. So don't feel so guilty. Remember, we only "borrow" our children. Like little birds, we raise them to spread their own wings and fly away. After they are gone and go on with their lives (and believe me, when they want to go somewhere, they don't cry when THEY leave), you will still have YOUR best friend. Enjoy! Carpe diem!!
Maryann
I hope the blog gets interesting soon!! I've enjoyed reading the others!

Nice work, Maryann............I liked your comment about how they don't get sad when they leave us!! Letting your children grow up (like we have a choice) is like pulling a bandaid off very slowly over several years, it's always bittersweet..............that being said..........when they're not there, and you're not sad anyone..........it's kinda nice and peaceful! I hope that's what your Med trip will be......nice and peaceful and lovely....Sandra.....

Just a quick pop-in to say "Hello" I'll not be here tonight as it's Joshua's year 6 leavers concert so we'll be at the school and my mum is coming over so I'll have to entertain her !!!!

Have a fun evening and try not to chat toooooooooo much :rotfl: :rotfl: otherwise I'll have so much "ketchup" to do in the morning

Yes, Sallie, I admire your thoroughness!! I've learned the hard way to let them handle the socialization, however, since I have three DDs, they start out with each other..........my girls have always met such nice friends on the DCL cruises.........they always find people and they often keep in touch for years afterward!:dance3:

I really think YOU should concentrate on your packing....I wouldn't want you to forget anything important.......I'll keep an eye on things here and let you know if anything comes up.............YOUR WELCOME!;) :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :surfweb:

Good morning everyone,

Yesterday I was off the boards for most of the day and it took over 3 hours last night to get caught up. Today I have to be in a meeting for the morning and I'm afraid how much I'll be behind.:surfweb: :surfweb: :surfweb:

Nothing is getting done toward cruise preparation. Life seems to be getting in the way of my vacation.

Some of you have been feeling guilty about leaving pets. WEll the guilt is really setting in for leaving my daughter. It's getting much worse the closer we get to the cruise. Well, I'm off to an Emergency Response Planning meeting for the town our school is in. THese meetings are usually pretty interesting but I know my mind is going to be on cruise stuff and not ERP.

Have a great day,
Sandra

Sandra, Just try to think of all the good times your parents will have with Lilly. Those will be great memories for all of them. That is the bright side of the coin.

See you soon.

Yes, I have three daughters, too, and they are tight . . . two will be in the Oceaneer's Lab together but I expect they will also make friends there.

Nice thought!:thumbsup2

Three girls -- 15, 12 and 10 . . .

My niece just moved to New York. She is a resident doctor at several hospitals....but I think the main hospital is Belleview. She is an Opthamoligist (sp?)

Ask you daughters if they want Annie's IM.....here is her picture
