Hi Maryanne I'm at the cheesecake factory!!! I read your post and started laughing out loud -the peple next to me think im crazy!!!
I thought of you when I read that !!great for the hotflashes, but now I think I have topsck warm clothes?????? I can't even pack the regular stuff now something else to worry about!!!!

I am definately only packing one light sweater and no long pants. Everytime I got too cool on the ship in the evening, I just went outside for a few mins to warm up. The only time I felt really cool was at dinner or in the Theatre.

Hey, do you think we could figure out a way to "call up" a hot flash when we need it? There's got to be a way..... maybe if we concentrate real hard and click our heels together three times........:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I just finished all the nametags (well Gretchen DD11 and her friend finished them) I will FED EX them in the morning.....so Jeanne look for them on Wednesday

Thank you so very much. You are in our prayers every day.
Maryann

I'm being optimistic, so we're leaving on July 24th

MaryJo,
It's so good to see you back. Has Nick survived the ordeal?

I hope everything has worked out and I'm praying you will be able to leave as originally planned on the 24th.

I didn't see the post about what actually happened, I may have missed it. But I'm glad you're back and optimistic.

Sandra

Mary Jo,

I am sure it will all work out with the passport. The fact that they have the set up that allows you to get the passport right then and there (which is probably what you will have to do) means that you and about 500 of your closest friends will be doing exactly the same thing because the government really messed this up and is desperately trying to fix it. I honestly believe they don't want anyone to change their plans because of this so they will probably be verrrrry accomodating and helpful to make sure that passport gets issued on the spot.

Prayers and pixie dust to you and I am very sure that it will all be solved and in a little over a week you'll be thinking about your adventure, sipping (maybe gulping) Italian wine as you watch a Mediterranean sun set.:grouphug:

Happy Sunday everyone - a bit off topic here,
We are hoping to have a nice picture taken on formal night. How does that work? Are the lines horrendous? We have late dinner. Also, are the pictures typically vertical or horizontal - there are 5 of us. I have heard that the sizes are usually 6x8 or 8x10, sound right?

Thank in advance for any info . . .
The earlier you go, the better, for avoiding long lines!!:thumbsup2

25 pages to go.................ketchuping up............:cool1:

Standardised assessment task = SAT
Taken in Year 2, Year 6 and Year 9 in all UK state schools and most private.
The tests are different for each age group, now at 7 it is mainly teacher assessment, at 11 and 14 it is tests. Subjects tested are English, Maths and Science.
League tables of school's results are published and lots of people here feel it's more about school's accountability than helping children progress, because the tests rarely show up anything that the teacher, parent or child doesn't already know

Ah something like our Star testing I guess - part of the "no child left behind" program that is designed to make sure that no child graduates without the ability to do well on standardized tests :rolleyes1

Just a quick reminder for Fish Extender participants, if you have a preference for a gift delivery day please let me know. I'll be posting a list of all participants and their scheduled day on Friday. If you don't want to be tied to a day you can let me know. As long as we have one assigned delivery for each day of the cruise then the rest can be unscheduled.

It's not too late to join in. I'll close it on Friday as that seems to be when the first people are leaving and it will be difficult to make changes once people are off the boards.

Sandra
Thank you for doing this, Sandra.

No preference for day - assign us as you will. :)

Not sure, I might/might not, bit late for my kids, I have a flexible plan for Barca
Same here - there's a chance we'll show up. But, a guy my husband used to work with lives in Barcelona and we need to hook up with him too - not sure when that will be (note I am using the adult form of "hook up" here, not the teenager/college form :rotfl2: )

How about some nice Pope Soap on a Rope?

I see lots of pink but hard to tell. For those of you in CA, it would be hard to beat In-N-Out for burgers.
Brian
Pope Soap on a Rope sounds awesome!!
I do miss In-N-Out Burger - didn't go too often, but sure did love it when it when I did!!

:woohoo: :woohoo:

Really quick - confirmed that our cabins are 2083 and 2085 - no upgrade either! But that's ok - come excursions days - we'll be able to get to our rooms quickly - up one flight of stairs!

:woohoo: :woohoo:
Hey, we're on 2 too!!

WHile I'm not usually one to defend the beaurocracy (sp) of Washington and our Gov't. THis has been scheduled for at least 2 years so it's not necessarily their fault for the back up it's more because we all (or Most of us) waited until the last possible minute to actually apply for them.
Luckily, DH thought about this back in August and we sent in the kids renewals then - we had them back by the end of September.

Yea! I'm so glad you got the pirate! I feel like I stole that one from you a few days ago!!

Harold Ann,

His name is Brian Adams...no not the singer.

Ceil

Ooh - that would have been fun!!

Ah something like our Star testing I guess - part of the "no child left behind" program that is designed to make sure that no child graduates without the ability to do well on standardized tests :rolleyes1

hello all 7/28 cruisers
I have a special request. My sister, my brother in law and my nephew were all going to be traveling with you on the crusie. In May my sister was found to have a brain tumor and she had to cancel her trip. She is home recuperating but unfortunately she will not be able to do the cruise. She reads the threads all the time and I thought it would be great if anyone and everyone can give her a trip report and maybe some pictures. I know she would love that, I am so sorry you all will not be able to meet her she is an incredible person, but maybe next time. Her name is Miriam

Thank You :)
Clara Oza
So sorry to hear of your news........there is a thread started for the "Romeancing the Mouse" cruisers.....there will be blog updates from several of us.......please encourage Miriam to check this out! My DD23 and I will try to update each day and include pictures! I hope Miriam will add comments when she reads our blog!!!:grouphug:

Hi everyone, this is our first time on a cruise. I booked a few weeks ago and hadn't realised how much planning was required. To introduce us: We are Bhinesh(Me), Mina(DW), Ursula(DD8) and Kishan(DS5) Originally from Tooting SW17 London UK, then Stamford CT USA and now Paget, Bermuda. We arrive in Barcelona on 27th July and are staying in the Eurostars Grand Marina (only one we could find at this late stage)

Can someone help me with these questions please:
[1] Anyone know about the hotel? How do i transfer from the hotel to ship?
[2] Most excursions seem to be potentially unsuitable for the kids. So are we allowed to leave them in the kids clubs, while we are off the ship? I would rather not but reports back from earlier cruisers seem to recommend not to bring kids to Rome, Pompeii, Florence etc.
[3] What other excursions should i try for the kids? All of the ones dedicated to kids are full. Will i be able to book them or go on a waiting list onboard?

Many Thanks

Bhinesh Patel
Welcome, thx for joining us.......read page one for more info.........:cloud9:
