God loves me!!! He waits everyday for me to get up to see what kind trouble he must get me out of- he says it keeps him young!!!! We talk everyday!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK a long long time in the future your going up there to the big place, and you are going to have to wait in a queue through those gates to Heaven.

St Peter will be there and you will be in the queue with priests, and popes, and they all expect to go in before you.

St Peter, will take you to the front,

The pope will say why her, I have a life devoted to God.

St Peter will say, when you speak everyone nods off to sleep.

But when Sallie is on a cruise, and takes a class, or is with her Friends, or with her husband.

THEY ALL PRAY, AND PRAY, AND PRAY, AND PRAY, AND PRAY,

Poor Jimmy, Poor Carley, poor Cats, poor students, poor Andrew!

PS you have to take your hat off to enter.

And when did you wake up from your siesta?

Love the picture, I have just herd a rumble of thunder, must be god, either having a laugh, or your going to get a bolt of lightning.

Was there one more blog started in our group?
Should we open a Trip Report thread and post these blogs on the first post?
I want to do a blog but just won't have the time.
I can go ahead and open a new thread under trip report and have it ready for us. What do you all think? Too early?
Our resident Okie is doing one too: http://okiesmedtimestories.blogspot.com/

Does anyone remember where the instructions for starting a blog are. I'm considering it but have never done anything like that before and don't know where to begin.

Sandra, my cabin is 6504. It was on your list at one point, but has disappeared again.

I got my docs as well and I've started the packing :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Strange thing about the docs. Me, Paul and Josh were all on one document and Ehan was on another one all by himself. Do you think that's 'cos Ethan is a child and all the rest of us are adults ?

We thought one was missing until we discovered our one "kid" (just a few months shy of 18) on her mom's ticket. They possibly put Ethan on his own because they can only put three on a ticket?

The other thread has just seemed to fall apart -- lots of hurt feelings, people actually quitting the cruise because of issues on the thread, etc. It has been sad to see.

That is sad. Perhaps it would make sense to start a new thread, not just for the clean start, but also because the existing one is rather intimidating in size. Honestly, I don't know if I would have joined this thread if it had had 67000 posts. The thought of being completely unable to catch up, and of being too much the outsider (shared experience being measured in part by number of posts) may well have been too intimidating.

New York is on my list 'to do' I went there before, I really enjoyed it, it 'feels' like London, only San Francisco did I feel the same.

The issue is time, I think 2008 will have to be fly direct to LAX, as I have 4 days only spare pre cruise due to my and DW work commitments. The repo ends on a Monday, so that 'steals' two days from me, I would fly back Monday night, arrive Morning Tuesday so no work to Wednesday.

In 2005 it ended on Saturday so I had more days and went to Vegas and Hollywood before Disneyland. Cant do that.

Kids want to see New York, a recent Doctor Who was set there and that increased their desire.

Now I might get air-miles from September booking my 2008 Trip so Dependant on that might be a cheap trip to NY.

We're actually thinking of doing D.C. after the cruise rather than New York (need to get to a city that has direct Jet Blue service to San Jose to make the flights affordable). D.C. has the advantage of being much less expensive than N.Y. (hotels are less expensive, and many activities are free). And who can argue against seeing the Air & Space museum?
Of course, by then you'll be getting $8 to the pound, so the money issue may be completely irrelevent :)

Agree agree agree, as its my last week, I cannot guarantee any posts after Friday night, I would like to say thank you to everyone, for making this the best thread i have ever seen, even better than the Doctor Who 'mad' one on UK-Diss.

THANK YOU TO ALL ON THIS THREAD

THANK YOU TO ALL ON THIS THREAD

Yes, I am so happy that I ended up on this cruise and this thread with all of you -- the Aug. 8 thread never really got itself together or felt like a group, and this one has been delightful. I have to go against my basic nature to get involved with a bunch of strangers like this (!) but I'm really glad in this case that I did.

I feel the same way. One of the things that I really like is that there is no pressure to participate in all the activities. I don't feel bad or left out because I chose not to do fish extenders, because there's no pressure or snide comments or anything like that about it.

Here's a new one...

Does anybody else play texas hold em?

We are all poker lovers - was thinking about planning a poker game one night. Will bring chip set if I can find enough people to get a game together.

Any one else play poker?

Susy

You didn't qualify whether it's play poker well, or play poker poorly :).

If you'll accept rank amateurs who play for entertainment, and the buy-in is on the low side, then I can absolutely see myself joining you (and wouldn't be surprised if a couple of others in my group do the same).

What is "open jaw"

Special flights sponsored by major airlines where all the flight attendents are dentists and you're able to get cleanings, fillings and even root canals while on the flight? (for a nominal extra fee, of course).

I can see you wearing this on a T-Shirt while wandering through Rome. Hysterical.... Of course, they'll never let DCL visit Italy again :rotfl2:

eeorelvr10 More than one cabin (yes, but what cabin #s???:confused3

I'm not sure what cabins either. I will PM everyone on the list to confirm room numbers and participation. Also, I'm considering doing some sort of schedule so the gifts are a bit spread out. Does this sound OK to everyone? IF you dont' want to have a designated day just say so and you can deliver anytime you like.

IF you want a specific day let me know and I'll put you in for that day.

I've never done this before so please bear with me as we figure this out.

Sandra

WE've decided not to go with a global cell phone. It seems expensive for the amount of calling we will do. If there is an emergency they can call the ship phone. Otherwise we can IM or email and call from pay phones at port.

So the question is, are there payphones around Europe? Should we buy phone cards here or are they available locally at the ports? ANd how much do cards cost per minute.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sandra

Whatever you do sounds good to me--if you schedule days, I'd prefer Pirate Day if that is possible, don't worry if that is a problem!

That's a great idea -- I was thinking that it could be a bit of a disappointment if everything came the first sea day! However, what if we want to give more than one thing? Both on "our" day or on two days????

Here's the info I have:

Using Phone Cards: European phone booths usually have card-operated phones rather than coin-operated phones. You can buy a telephone card at European post offices, train stations, and most tobacco shops and newsstands. You just slide your card into a slot in the phone and dial away. The phone reads your card's magnetic strip and a display tells you how much money is remaining on your card.

Your phone card works for local, long distance, and international calls made from card-operated public phones throughout the country where you purchase your card. Particularly in France and Britain, keep an eye out for the new phone cards that require the use of a PIN code. The French version is called KOSMOS. The cards can be used from any phone, even from your hotel room, and allow you to make calls at a cheaper per-minute rate than regular European phone cards. These can be as cheap as about 5 cents a m inute, if you buy the international kind that require you dial the toll free number and use a PIN . . . the kind you insert into a phone have less good rates.

Did anyone answer the question about open jaw flights? It's when you fly into one place (for Andrew next year, from London into LA) but back from another (for him, Orlando back to London). Sorry if this was already posted and I missed it.
