DD14 gets out on June 8th. Then starts summer school on June 18. 7:45 am to 2 and then again from 6 - 8:30.

LOL - We just tuned in to AI and they're interviewing Taylor Hicks.

Any surprises I should know? I feel like boycotting it - just disappointed now. Talent show? Who said Talent show? As someone on the other thread said:

In Sardinia, there is a beach called Cala Sabina that is on Golfo Aranci near Olbia, and can be reached by train! I am thinking of asking a taxi driver to take us to the beach, and asking if he/she will be back at a pre-arranged time, with the train back to Olbia as a backup if they don't show. To take a train to the beach, just buy a ticket for Cala Sabina and you will get off a few meters from the beach. It sounds lovely, white beach, blue water, and juniper bushes (according to Authentic Sardinia by the Touring Club of Italy).

In Marseilles we plan to take a taxi to the train station and buy tickets to Arles. You can get wonderful walking guides there to show you where all of Van Gogh's "easels" have been placed to show the actual view he had when painting many of his famous works. There are also well preserved Roman ruins. Then I want to walk from the train station in Marseilles when we return to the Cathedral and wander down toward the Vieux Port . . . there are many fabulous shops there that make soaps and other toiletries with real Provencial lavender . . .

Thanks for the help - we don't have exursions planned for these two either - question though - There are 5 of us in our family - how hard will it be to get a taxi? Are you going to try to plan one in advance? Or get one at port?

I was going to try for a taxi at the port, but if I didn't like the people or the prices, would just take the train. You are correct that you may or may not be able to find a taxi for 5, but you can walk from the port to the train station and it looks to me like a very short ride to Cala Sabina beach (15 minutes, maybe?).

I'm sure people will post what they did in Sardinia over the next several weeks, as well.

5 1.2 days left of school.....
Th - Normal day
Fri - talent show first half, then awards ceremonies for attendance, citizenship, 4.0, reading points, etc.
M - No school
T - school - class pioneer picnic and activities (like making ice cream and butter)
W - Movie day, after desks are cleaned out.
T - sports day
F - minimum day

That is when I will start my countdown to Aug 15 - the glorious day when they go back to school.

us too - my kids are so ready for this. their poor teachers. they hear about it all the time, but they wont get to read the 'what did you do over the summer' essays.

Speaking of which - I got a great idea from the people on the cruise right now. I started a vacation blog so I can have the kids write up each day what they did, etc. Maybe later then i will turn it into an actual book. But for now, G-ma will be able to log in and check on them.
