I've read a lot of discussion on the Vancouver thread about needing Canadian dollars. Most say that border city vendors will almost always accept U.S. dollars for payment, though they may not give you the best exchange rate. And they will likely offer change in Canadian dollars.

We are spending Sunday and Monday pre-cruise in Vancouver, therefore we wanted a little cash for the small stuff and will use plastic for everything else. I read on another thread where some people thought it was wrong to expect the people we tip to have to deal with our money. (one was quite rude about it)

We are driving in the morning of the cruise, directly to the port parking. We are leaving directly after the cruise. No tip worries for us, but yes in thinking of that issue a bit of Canadian currency would be good.

Judy where are you all staying? We are at the River Rock Casino & Resort near the airport. It seems like a long way but it has a station for the light rail line that goes directly to the port.

We are staying at the Airport La Quinta. We never stayed at one before but was recommended by mellers on another thread. She said it was a good location. She has stayed there before and said it is clean and safe.

I don't know about that one but I like La Quinta. We used them a lot in Texas.

Our cabin is 6319. Sorry I had not noticed before that it was missing.

Angie, usually we get ours a couple weeks or less from the cruise date. The first time we got them a month prior was our 2006 cruise.

The news this morning from Vancouver are very frightening.

I had to go look it up. I do not find it frightening but instead very sad. There are always going to be people who take advantage of a situation no matter where you are. I don't believe this is going to last for long at all in Vancouver. I do hope that anyone who was there after the cruise that got back on Tuesday is okay and was not out in this.
