I have been waiting and watching trying to decide what to do.. back and forth, cancel, not cancel, cancel not cancel.... I feel a bit crazy.. but I am pretty sure we should just cancel. I can't imagine wearing a mask in the florida heat.... that is my main issue.. but on top of that, the not knowing more info on the reservation system.... that is a big #2 issue... we have hopper passess and that seems like its not happening.. the other biggie is long lines..... I was reading about long lines being a big issue potentially so it just doesn't sound fun. Plus all my dining I worked so hard to book.... gone. same with fast passes.. ugh.. the no fireworks is a bummer but I could live without. the no parades does not bother me..

Also only have one pool open is stupid.. more people trying cram into one pool..

What are others thinking??

Right now, the only pool that is closed is SAB. All others are open, although starting with limited hours for feature, but 24 hours for the others

There a rumors that by next week we should be getting more info on the reservation system and how it will work.

All the rest are things that can’t be changed or not known until parks open.

We are going in August but some of my family may not. Just depends on what we get for park reservations and whether or not they want to deal with the entire mask thing.

We’re booked for July 14-19 (rescheduled a few months ago from early May), and are definitely going. Re the masks, certainly an inconvenience. Maybe a lighter fabric will help. We’re in Los Angeles, and I had to get up at 4:00 AM for fast passes...totally annoying to lose them, but I’m hoping capacity will be reduced enough to minimize lines. And since even at 4:00 AM I wasn’t able to get fast passes for all the attractions I wanted, at least this levels the playing field!
Mostly, we’re just looking to have fun exploring the parks and being in such a beautiful, fun environment. For us, it’s not a deal breaker to try some new restaurants or miss out on a few rides, which hopefully we won’t anyway. Especially during that first week, my bet is that the parks will not be busy at all, and that Disney will be doing everything in their power to make the guest experience a good one. Too much is riding on this for them to screw it up. And from the precautions I’ve been reading and seeing, it also looks like it will be one of the safer places to hang out.
At Disneyland, there’s nowhere near the amount of detailed schedule planning required. I think the system at Disneyworld needs to be rethought anyway. You might have a good time if you’re willing to go with the flow a little bit.

We're DVC members and keeping our late July reservations. However, we modified from 10 to 5 nights. Gonna try different experiences we have always wanted to try while staying on Disney properties but never have. Discovery cove, Sea world, Aquatica, Shopping Malls and off property restaurants. Will stay balance of vacation on Universal property, experiencing all they have to offer. I don't agree with or understand much of Disney's thinking with their policies (especially water parks, pools or at least the resort guest the opportunity to buy theme park tix). Completely understand the tough position Disney is in. But I also do think they are trying to get as many DVC points and as many annual passes off the books as possible while only providing the absolute bare minimum essential services for guests IMO.

My family and I are going for 10 days-- we ended up needing to move our March to June, and then our June to August, but we already had a trip planned for then. We have a three-part split stay because points were expiring. I am planning to wing it, which I have NEVER done... so, I'm PLANNING intensely every iteration possible...

I'm planning on planning to wing it? Like Olaf said, "We're calling this game 'Controlling what you can when things feel Out of Control.'"

To us, it’s too expensive for a less than experience. We will not return until there is a vaccination and we can visit without a mask. We aren’t going to risk our health. We are sad as theme parks and cruises are our favorite vacations. But hopefully by 2022 it’s more normal again.

If you only had 1 thing you were concerned about I would say go, but you have a whole list of things you are concerned about. You should definitely cancel and go another time when there will less concerns.

Yes, we’re going to start with 4 nights at the Royal Pacific, then move to the Riviera for 5 nights. Looking on the bright side, we’re thinking this might be a rare opportunity to see the parks with little or no crowds. I truly don’t think Disney is going to be doing the bare minimum. I think they know that they’re going to be under a microscope, and that their parks business depends on this reopening going well.
And very limited capacity, at least those first few weeks, will help assure that.

I am right there with you! We are scheduled July 23 through 31 at All Star Movie, 8 day hoppers, and H2O Glow on July 25 and 29. I know NOTHING about what is going on: my resort is supposed to be closed, park hopping most likely not allowed, and good speculation that H20 won't happen... but I don't know anything for sure! I am quickly approaching the 30 day mark where I am supposed to pay the rest of the balance. Why would I want to? I have not missed a year since I was 19 (I am now 46) and this would be my 80th trip! I am a die hard Disney World fan... but my patience is almost gone! I am guessing it is part of the plan to get as many people to cancel as possible to help limit park attendance. I think if I cancel, I will definitely get my deposit back but I am probably stuck with my H20 glow tix.

If I'm looking at the go-no go question logically, it's an easy choice... cancel and rebook for another, hopefully better, time. The not so logical side of me says I should keep my August reservation and look at it as an "adventure" and quite frankly not-logical-me is winning out at this point in time. We will see how the early adventurers make out in July and make a final decision at that point. Good luck!

Same boat here, we are to check in July 18 for 2 nights at ASM then OKW until July 25. My anxiety is rising the closer we get to check in and still nothing confirmed from Disney what to expect. I just keep telling myself, It's Disney it'll be great...each day it's harder to believe that.

That's a tough decision. Will you be satisfied with a limited experience? Is it worth your time and money if you can't get into the parks every day or if wearing a mask bothers you? Personally, I am pumped to go and experience the weirdness, lol. But others may not find it worth their time. I hope it all works out for you!

We planned a July 6th trip just to get away knowing there would be no parks. As we have been hearing about the increasing cases of the virus it has scared us into staying home. Honestly your experience could go either way - you could luck out and have really low crowds, low waits, no trouble getting dining or you could be faced with your nightmare of long lines in the heat, not getting into the parks having limited dining options.

I guess your decision making process has to be -

1. what points are you going to lose if you don't go? If none then I would probably cancel. If you are going to lose a ton of points I would go but with a modified expectation
2. Go in knowing that you won't get your park of choice but will likely a park to go to and you will hopefully get a refund for your park hopper. In this case not a complete loss of a trip.
3. could you go and just make it a resort trip and keep your tickets for another time- I believe they are now extended the tickets until Sept 2021.

You are at a point now where if you cancel they will help you with your points and put back if you borrowed or allow you to bank if past banking deadline, but this could change at any time. They could change that once the parks open, but probably not. I think they want people to cancel to help with crowd levels so they might not change the banking situation.

You have about a couple of weeks to see how the parks are when they open - you know those you tubers will be all over the parks reporting. You could give yourself until 7/20 to make a decision and hopefully get to keep your points for a future trip.

We are booked Aug 29-Sept 7, and I WISH we could go. We are AP holders and DVC members booked in spilt stay studios at Poly and BWV trying to use up points that will expire on Sept 30. Unfortunately, we are in Canada, and even if the border opens we will likely still have to quarantine (at least upon our return to Canada) so it’s about a 1% chance. 😭😭

I get your pain -- I've gotten up really early to make FP choices twice, booked and stalked dining reservation etc. So it's frustrating to plan and have that tossed in the wind and be left with uncertainty.
We are keeping ours. We check in July 26. Our original trip was the end of May. I rebooked at the end of July using banked that we would likely lose otherwise and a few current, just waiting on confirmation of park opening.
Now that there is confirmation -- we've made adjustments to our thought process and plans.
We booked a bigger room. We're likely going to have more downtime -- we want more room to spread.
We are testing out mask styles now (and we live in S. Texas, so similar conditions) -- do we prefer the cloth, disposable, over the ear, behind the head, gaiter, structured, surgical styles? We live in Texas so I can test in similar conditions. Kids understand this and still want to go. We anticipate, taking things MUCH slower, more breaks, more water. Bring the mister fans.

There will be a lot less people in the park -- but yes, the lines could be longer due to social distancing. I keep checking our dates -- the availability at all the resorts seems to have only increase as we've gotten closer to park opening. With that -- I'm expecting to be able to pick the park I want for the day. I will lose the advantage of my AP's, and I've accepted that. While we usually park hop, we don't always. And with the limited hours, there's not as much benefit for doing so. We are doing a longer trip so we can have multiple days in the different parks and take it REALLY slow. Things that won't be open -- we'll be back.

The restaurants -- I've adjusted our reservations for dinner at disney springs until we know what parks we'll be in and where we can eat. (we usually only do one sitdown and not everyday).

We know we'll still enjoy things -- we'll just be enjoying things differently. And I think the end of July is the cross-section of when things will be REALLY CLEAN (and people will be hyper attentive to that) and crowds REALLY LOW. And it's a a week and half after they've been open to get some of the opening day kinks out.

Good luck with your decision! We'll be there at the same time if you are!

AP, not going this year. I live in sw fla and it’s unusually hot and worse humid this year. Being totally honest, I’m finding the mask nearly unbearable for short time things.. like an hour to food shop. I find that I’m touching it to move n shift it, looking to see if no one is in an aisle and removing it. It’s even worse with glasses. I’ve never been finicky/picky... I’m a fighter having pushed thru Summer Chemo and a year worth of treatments.. I know discomfort and why Anyone would choose to be in a mask for hours upon hours while vacationing..( and do this with kiddos) is Not my idea of relaxing vacation. Imho, for the true vacation experience and lover of Anything Disney... I’d delay until your hard earned dollars and relaxing time at Disney is Fully Realized. Stay Safe... a tough week here in my neighborhood

Well spoken!
We moved from a 2 bedroom at Aulani, which still doesn't have a opening date to WDW. Since that is a lot of points to burn, we will be doing 15 day split stay between Poly, Boulder Ridge and Kidani in studios and 1 bedroom. (Our son and his wife don't want to do WDW, so we can go down to a smaller room). These are resorts I always wanted to try but always seemed to go back to my home resorts, VGF or BCV. This will probably not be a park visit, but we don't care. We will still have a great time. We will do Universal, take kayak trips, head to the beach, visit local friends and dine off site if we must. I'm happy just to be OUT OF MY HOUSE.

We moved our late June reservation to end of July and then decided to cancel. Briefly considered changing to Universal but in the end decided not to.

Now I'm trying to figure out September. I borrowed from next years points for that trip since it was planned to be longer than usual. Now with my tours cancelled (that I have tried to get for 3 years and finally got this year), moonlight magic probably not happening, who knows what will be going on with MNSSHP I'm considering cancelling the part using this years points and banking those to make the trip shorter. I have till the end of July to decide.

First off, congrats on completing your treatment!

One thing I’ve noticed when meeting friends, who reside in the south, at the parks in the summer is they all seemed to be less acclimated to the heat/humidity than my (still struggling, mind you lol) family, from PA.

Dawned on me that many FL residents are accustomed to having central AC at home (not as prevalent here with many having hot water/boiler heating systems) & wisely do their best to not venture out in the heat of day if they can avoid it.
