July 20th, 2011 – 10 Night Mediterranean "Mickey's European Explorers"

Hi

I wouldn't worry about the thread saying that Malta and Corsica may be cancelled, the travel site they are talking about is not always the most reliable when it comes to Disney in particular!!!

I did post a message on the thread that was started about it, as the dates on the site are showing a 26th May sailing too, which was last year, not this.

I can't think for one moment that the problems in Tunis will affect Corsica or Malta.

Hope everyone is OK and those in the States are not suffering too much with the snow!

Kate

Just read the other thread. Thanks, Kate, for putting everything in perspective.
I too love Italy, but am looking forward to seeing Malta and Corsica!

Learned today that my mailbox back in the US did not survive the last snow/snowplow! My neighbors tell me, though, that the snow will take a long time to melt, so it will be a while before I have to find someone to replace it for our renters!
:rotfl:

I'll take these howling winds we've had the past few days over all that snow any time. (If only someone would send me some Peanut Butter M&Ms though...)

Just wanted to wish you all safe travels and have a great time. Please post pictures would love to see them.

My sister has been battling a brain tumor for the last few years and the darn thing is back, so she will be having surgery in March and recovery is extensive, so there is no way she would be ready by July and we just cannot go without her. We are extremely sad that we had to cancel and waited as long as possible in hopes the doctor was wrong. But its back so we have to face it and make sure that we win this battle against this thing.

again I am so sorry I will not be able to meet you all.

This really is sad news: we wish you and your family all the best and strenght in this battle. And remember, only mountains never meet ! So who knows?

Hi, joining the thread as we booked our cruise a couple weeks ago! It'll be me, my husband, and our little girl who will turn 5 a month before the cruise.

Can't wait!!!

So sorry Clara. Wishing your sister the best in her recovery, and sending you all some prayers. {hugs}

Wondering if we will regret booking early dining. My kids are used to eating tea btw 5 and 6, but I forgot about the time change, so that will make it earlier. They didn't stretch too well staying up late on our last two holidays, either, so we figured we wouldn't push it with a late dinner, but now I just don't know.....

does anyone have kids who weren't so flexible with bedtimes at 5 & 7? How did they fare w/late night. (And no, my kids will not sleep in. At Disney, they were up at 7am or earlier every morning.) If this were a Caribbean cruise, I'd say we could fit in quiet time late afternoon, but since it is so port intensive, I just don't know if we'll get that.

My daughter turns 5 in March! Glad to see another "little-y" for her - lots of older girls and boys so far, it seems.

Sorry to hear this, I hope it all works out with your sister and you can maybe take a later cruise. Thinking of you all - be strong.

We had this dilema last year, our dd was 5 and we had early dining. To be honest, we were glad, although sometimes we didn't really want to eat that early, having not long had lunch, but in terms of tiredness it worked well.

Our dd goes to bed around 7.30 normally, although on holidays we are flexible, but she gets tired and actually 'asks' to go to bed!

I knew if she was tired, she wouldn't eat later and eating early, meant we could go to the show and if she sat on my lap and dozed, then that was OK.

However, there was so much going on, she seemed to get a second wind after dinner and on a couple of ocassions actually went to the kids club after the show for half an hour or so, which was great to allow us to have a drink.

We were still very aware that it was late and I felt she should have been in bed, but she was having a good time. She did sleep in slightly later to about 8.30, which meant we weren't rushing out in the morning, we also missed the Character breakfast, because I didn't want to wake her up!

Personally, I think it is a better time for little ones, we have eaten later in the past and she is figity and tired, which doesn't make for a pleasant meal.

On a final note, we were worried about getting back in late on some days, but the Restaurant Manager did tell everyone not to worry about coming in later, they would fit around us and a lot of people just didn't make it at all. Don't forget you can always go upstairs. In the evenings, the tables are set out and although it is still serve yourself, they do serve drinks at the table and it is a bit more sophisticated that during the day.

Hi guys

I thought as we are in the same year as the cruise now, with only 5 months to go :cool1: I would start organising the FE List. I have a few names from the list on Keevers website, but as quite a few people have either joined, or dropped out, I am not sure how accurate this is now.

If you would like to take part, then please let me know, either on here or PM me. If you have decided not to, then again, just let me know. I will keep the list on a post on this Thread, updating it as we go along and get cabin numbers. I will keep bringing in forward too, so it is not so hard to find!

Ideally we don't want it to get too large, so if there are a lot of cabins, then I think it would be best to split it into two groups, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it.

I will produce a final list, with deckplan showing the location of cabins, which I can send you in either word or Excel.

So far I have the following:

Welcome to the newbies!!!!

We haven't even got this thread started yet!

Welcome to all new people!

I'm really getting tired off the bad weather here and looking forward to our cruise sooo much! Luckily we have a trip to Gran Canaria in three weeks to warm up a bit already.

A question for our Belgian (or other EU) shipmates: do we need a passport? I would suppose now that we don't go to Tunis any more, there's no need for one. Ours expires right before the trip so don't want to pay for a new one if we don't need it.

I don't think we have a website anymore? Do we need one? I'm a webdesigner as part of my job so I can create one if you like...

I don't know about in Belgium, but in the UK we can't fly even within the UK these days, without a passport. I don't know if you are intending to fly to Barcelona, but the likelihood is that you will need one if you are...

.......and quite likely for the ship too, as I am pretty sure we were required to produce ours when we boarded the Disney cruise last year in Dover. :)

A new website for us would great if you have the time to do one. :thumbsup2

I have a quick question for anyone who rebooked this cruise whilst on board the Med cruises last year ......can you remember how much the DCL OBC credits were for this cruise, per cabin cat ??

Many thanks if you can help.....I can't find the information I got at the time.

Hi

When we booked it was 20% off selected cruises and $200 obc. This was for a gty12, although we have upgraded since.

We named DU at the same time of booking on board and got their obc too.

Wilem, I think you will need a passport, especially if you are flying internally. If you are travelling by train or road to Barcelona, you may get away with it. I agree, a website would be fabulous!

Hi Willem: your Belgian identity card will do: it did last year (Dover - Barcelona) and in 2007 (the Med Cruise)
And yes: we're also getting tired of the wheather, but have to wait 'till May until we do a short break in Gran Canaria....

Just bought nonrefundable airfare, so we are going, whatever the ports may be. Ick, the airfare was only $900 shy of the total cruise fare.
