AK hours were just extended for July through Labor Day! Open until 11pm every night of my 7/21-7/28 trip!
We will be coming down for a short trip from 7/2-7/6 (1 night WL; 3 nights Poly). Really excited as I haven't told the kids yet and this is a spontaneous trip to use up some expiring air miles. The bonus of getting to stay at the Poly is the icing on the cake. It's a bucket list item and usually doesn't fit in our budget. But I hit a fluke in the price on a studio yesterday and it wasn't much more than our original plan to stay at YC (It's already much higher for the same room today).
Since this isn't planning at my usually hundreds of days out and we purchased annual passes for the first time... it's been an interesting experience already. I'll be travelling alone with my 2 kids (5 & 7) - my husband hates the heat and is opting out of this one. Currently - trying to figure out how best to enjoy the parks without going crazy in the crowds (though we went in March/April just after Easter and it was insane) for a short trip. We usually stay for at least 7 nights or more so we counter crowds with the pool. I'd like to see the fireworks but the kids are not night owls and the noise would be tough (my daughter has ear disabilities/issues). Any thoughts? I was thinking about watching just MK from the Poly but my reading thus far seems to indicate that it gets overwhelmed with non-poly guests and you'd have to sit at the beach starting around 5PM. That's not really a feasible option travelling alone with the two kids.

Thanks for the info! That was my hope - that we could meander and find a decent place to watch. Kids don't need perfect at all - just not jam packed. I think we will try to watch on the 3rd and then we are going to go to the new AKL jungle book show on the 4th. I was able to get a Tusker reservation and I think it will be the least busy in park show and my littles will likely enjoy it.I think you should definitely watch MK show from Poly since you're staying there -- it's such a treat and in our opinion one of the best spots to watch the show. You will be surprised at all of the different spots you can find -- maybe even right near your studio somewhere. It doesn't have to be perfect right on the beach -- there are lots of other areas that would probably be just fine. I'll be there too and can't wait!!

Cool! Getting excited. We were able to move our flight up for a day and a studio opened up for our whole stay at the Poly. Can't wait.I just saw on tikiman's feed that they are putting in extra speakers so you can hear wishes better from the beach!![]()
