July 2011:Calling all planners-Post your dates & Resort

Ha! You have changed it soooo much that now they aren't having the 3:00 parade at 3:00. It's going to be at 12;00 and 3:30 (I'm serious, I saw this last night on another board!)

Really? Hmm...I may have to investigate! I really have not been keeping up at all this timeframe. It looks like it is back to Grammy coming! DH wants to go (which is confusing to start with? He does NOT like Disney! :confused3 ) but then he's afraid he's going to miss a grand job opportunity since he has been getting a couple calls every day pretty much.

I am guillable though so it's possible you got me on this one -- plus I'm pretty much brain cells have turned off at this point.

July 12th - Epcot – Arrived at 8:30 AM – Went straight to Soar in, got fast pass for later and then rode the ride. Walked over to Test track and went through the singles line and got fast pass for later. Repeated the same over again and got 2 more fast passes. Visited Captain EO, Figment and Spaceship Earth. Went to Japan and ate lunch (Beef Udon, Tempura Udon and Chicken Ginger Salad) – Very Delicious. Bought a few things and visited with the CM’s in Japan. Reason, I was born in Tokyo, Japan so I speak Japanese fluently. I have been visiting the regular CM’s in Japan now for 11 visits. We know them and they know us very well. They are very glad to see us annually; especially Midori my DD. Midori is a Japanese name, meaning the color green. We returned to CBR around 5:00 PM and will return to Epcot at 9:00 PM for Magic Hours.

Edited - 5:00 AM - Went to Epcot for evening Magic hours, Rode Soar in, Test Track, Maelstrom, Mission Space 2 times each. Took bus to DTD to get a late night sandwich and went back to CBR. 1:00 AM sleep time.

Hi, All! Back at home. Had an awesome time! Will most likely do a TR. I'll probably start later this week or next week. I'll post the link when I do.

I'll have to take a few days to read through the pages I have missed here. :rotfl2:

Let me know if you have any questions. :)

No, you aren't gullible. The DIS Park Hourse parades/fireworks calendar has it listed, you can check!

Welcome back! I trust you had an amazing time? :thumbsup2

Okay, so I have a question ...
How do you know the times of events/shows taking place in the park for the day that you're there? :confused3
Are there schedules when you first get into a park or what? There are a few things I very much want to do but am kind of worried we'll miss it cause I have no idea when the times are.

You are exactly correct. There is a times schedule. They will be in the same racks as the park guides/maps, so you won't miss a thing! :) They even tell you where/when character visits are! :) :thumbsup2

It will be some good late night reading for when you need to sleep. ;)

If you miss them on the way into a park, you can usually pick them up in most stores at the cash register/check out counter.

Thank you both very much! Okay, I will be on the lookout for them! I will bring a highlighter with me to make sure I don't miss anything :)

Okay, another question ... I read the thread about fastpasses and I understand about time limits, how many you can have, etc.
Just to make sure ... in order to get fastpasses, we have to insert our park tickets (one for each person for the ride) in order to get them?
DH or my friend will be making the fastpass runs since they can literally run/walk faster than I can lol

There's not so much a limit to the number you can hold on to but the limit is made by the times. In other words, you can't get another one until the time period/waiting period has expired. We had five or six each at one point on the last trip. And, yes, you have to put your park tickets in the machine. It's really simple and usually there are CMs there at the FP machines to help if you need it.

Yes, each FP will have a time posted at the bottom letting you know when you are able to get another FP. There were usually CMs around. We found this trip that some places there were not as many CMs... or the CMs weren't paying attention.... or they did not know what they were talking about. Of course, it could just be that I scare people away.... who knows!

You are correct, you will need a unique entry ticket for each fastpass/rider. It's fine to send a runner (I'm usually our runner, even though I'm the fat guy). The only caveat to that is the ticket you use for a fastpast must be for someone who has entered the park. So for example, if I'm an early riser, I can't grab everyone's tickets, head to the park early, get fastpasses, then meet the group at the gates when they make it to the parks. What I can do is grab everyone's ticket as they come in the park, then book it back to Soarin' for a fastpass for everyone. I hope that makes sense.

Well, we are home. We had a wonderful trip and miss it already.

We will be back in November, however. Four months and six days, to be exact.

Glad you had a great trip. You are already back and planning the next trip and I haven't even left my home front yet. Sure wish it was time to go, I am so ready.

Still doing the single digit dance. :cool1:

Glad you had a great trip!! I wish I was planning the next trip. I think it will be a few years in the making. In the meantime, I will live through those who do go. =]

Thanks! This trip in November is only happening because all three of our schedules (mine, and my mom's/sister's) work out. My college has the whole week of Thanksgiving off, as does the School System where my mom works and where my sister attends high school. It is a belated 21st birthday celebration/drinking around the world for myself (actual birthday is in /August). This trip will be super special, because it falls almost exactly ten years from our first family trip in November of 2001.

Just wanted to say in one week from RIGHT NOW I'll be heading to the airport!!

Well I can now say that myself. One week from today I will be heading down there. And we have our DISmeet:goodvibes

Driving over this Friday!!!
:cheer2::cool1:

Staying one week at the Polynesian.

:woohoo:

July 9th - Departed DFW at 6:15 AM - Arrived MCO 10:15 AM, (Remember Texas is one hour behind) Walked over to Magical Express and got right on and left within 15 minutes. Arrive at CBR at 11:00 AM and received a very warm welcome and was assigned a room immediately.

Unpacked and then called Alamo and arranged a pick up at 12:00 Noon. On time for pick up and went to Hess's Car Center and picked up a rental. Drove to
Wal-Mart and bought groceries and brought them back to the resort. Unloaded and took the car back and received a ride back to the resort. (Special deal from American Airlines. 32.00 dollars for the day, but I did not need it for a full day, needed to use it and then dump it).

Midori and I walked the property and then she crashed. (Since Midori went to bed last night at 9:30 PM and woke up at 12:00 midnight so she could start getting ready. Midori wanted to go to DTD but I asked her to take a nap and we would go swimming at the resort. Midori said ok and was out within a minute.

We will start with Magic Kingdom tomorrow, meet the Diser’s at 2 PM at Dole.

July 10th – Magic Kingdom Arrived at the gate at 8:30 AM went straight Tomorrow land and rode Space Mountain 4 times, Runaway Mountain 3 times, Splash Mountain twice. Went back to Tomorrow land and did Space Mountain, Blue line, Carousal of progress, Buzz Light year. DD wanted a Strawberry – Banana smoothie. Walk to Haunted Mansion, Small World- went back to Runaway Mountain. Acquired 2 Space, 1 Buzz, 1 Splash and 1 Runaway fast pass during the morning. Afternoon did Space, Buzz, Splash, Blue Line and Monsters Inc.

Met the Dis. group at Dole Stand in Adventure land, talked, took pictures and shared stories. (Neat People) Enjoyed the meet and greet.

Ate lunch at The Plaza Rest; DD had Turkey and Bacon Sandwich and I had Potato Soup and Ruben. All outstanding – you have to try the potato soup (Ummmmmmm!!!) with bacon, chives and grated cheddar cheese). Poured down ran for about an hour and then stopped.

Space Mountain, up graded the sound affects. Now it sounds like you are in a spaceship a through the whole ride. Splash Mountain installed a lap bar and refurbished the pad at the front of the seats (Head Pad) needed very badly, because it stunk of sour milk – OLD.

Left at 6:00 PM went back to CBR and played on the beach, rested, and watched TV. Went back to Magic Kingdom around 9:30 PM for extra hours, rode Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Blue Line, Haunted Mansion, Splash, Runway, Buzz, Indy Speedway and Pirates. Returned back to CBR at 1:00 AM. Transportation was great all through the day. Quick and timely.

May have forgotten a couple of things but enjoyed the day.

July 11th – Hollywood Studio’s – Arrived at the bus stop at 7:30 AM and was picked up with in 10 minutes. Got to Hollywood Studio’s at 7:45 AM for Magic Hours, but they did not have it scheduled today. Must have been our mistake – they have Magic Hours tonight. Guess we will go back to Hollywood Studio’s tonight.

We rode Areosmith Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror 6 times each today. Did 3-D Muppets, Toy Story and the new Star Wars 3-D.

Ate at Sci-fi today for lunch. Reservations at 12:45 PM – got hungry around 11:30 so decided to swing by to see if we could get in. Talk to Omar and asked him if we could get in earlier and he took us in immediately. We ordered Double dip for two, Angus Cheeseburger (Midori) – Ruben Sandwich (Bob), Vanilla milk shake and iced tea. Sarah our servers was excellent, great personality and attention to details. Sung happy birthday and gave me a very large chocolate sundae with candied Mickey sprinkles. Spoke to the Manager and complimented the service of Omar- Reservations, Karen – Hostess / Car Hop and Sarah our server.

We left Hollywood Studio’s at 4 PM, swam for about an hour until rain, thunder and lightning surrounded the area. Resting now and will go back to Hollywood Studio’s for extra hours tonight only to ride Aerosmith Coaster and Tower of Terror only.

Edited - 5:00 AM - Went to Epcot for evening Magic hours, Rode Soar in, Test Track, Maelstrom, Mission Space 2 times each. Took bus to DTD to get a late night sandwich and went back to CBR. 1:00 AM sleep time.

July 13th - Animal Kingdom - Early morning Magic hours 8:00 AM July 13th - Animal Kingdom - DD 11 (Midori) rode Expedition Everest 12 times, I only rode it 7 and had to stop. Found out that the record is held by a man, can’t remember where he is from but get this !!! 144 rides in one day is the current record; also found out that Disney has plans to build another park dedicated to roller coasters, 17 of them to be exact. Location TBD…and the new Fantasyland attractions will be awesome for 2012. Beauty and the Beast coaster with a ballroom set up to server fine dining cuisine and an area for Ariel and Snow White. 2 Dumbo rides and etc. Sound exciting and something to look forward to in 2012. Went to a food shop between Asia and Discovery Island and bought Picnic in the Park lunch bag. Last year we enjoyed it so much – we had to get it again. 2 sandwiches, 2 chips, 1 rice crispy treat and 1 orange, 2 bottles of water for 20.00. Very good sandwiches…Came back to CBR for lunch and to rest around 11:00 AM. This afternoon we will rent a Sea Ray and cruise the lake and then go to DTD for dinner and shopping. Talked to the Manager for CBR and complimented the staff, food and the Resort. We wanted to make sure the staff we came in contact was recognized.

Edited – 10:00 PM Orlando Time: DD and I went to DTD, ate dinner at Wolf Gang Puck – Food and Service not to good tonight. Felt like the back and the front of the house was short a couple of staff. Finished the night out at AMC Theater and saw Monte Carlo – starring Selena Gomez. Very cute movie and reminded me of Princess Protection Program, also a good movie for the girl’s

Change of plans for tomorrow. Instead of going back to Epcot, we are going to Hollywood Studio’s to ride Aerosmith and Tower of Terror.

Changed last minute – July 14th – Magic Kingdom 8:00 AM Magic Hours. Splash Mountain and Space Mountain broke down for 2 hours. Went ahead and got fast passes for the two and then rode the following. Buzz Light-year, Carousal of Progress, Blue Line, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pooh and Snow White. Space Mountain fixed road it twice and then used fast pass for the third time. Got a fast pass for Space again and then rode the train to Frontier Land and watched the Country Bears. Rode Splash Mountain and got a fast pass for later tonight. Went to eat at Tony’s DD (Midori) ordered Garlic – Cheesy Bread and Spaghetti and Meatballs- I order Tomato and Mozzarella salad and flat bread sausage and cheese. Food was outstanding but the service lacked. Sarah had a large table of 10 that took too much of her time and kept us from getting the service we deserved. Princesses, Minnie and Mickey was at the Theater next to Tony’s so we stopped to visit, Autographs and Pictures. Minnie gave me a Birthday kiss. First kiss from a woman in 10 years and it had to be from a Mouse. Ha !! Ha !! You can now get fast passes for the Mickey, Minnie and the Princesses visits.

Returned to CBR around 4:30 PM to wash clothes and let Midori rest. We will go back around 8:00 PM until the park closes at 11:00 PM. We have fast passes for Splash and Space so we will get a good start tonight.

Edited 12:00 Midnight – Orlando Time; Arrived at Magic Kingdom at 8:00 PM rode Space Mountain 4 times, Buzz Light once, Stitch once, Blue line once, Splash Mountain 4 times and Thunder Mountain 12 times. During the Electric Parade and the Fireworks no one was at Splash and Thunder Mountain. Stayed in the Thunder Mountain car and rode the ride over and over.
