July 2007 TR

Hedy...I can't wait to write about Akershus! It was soo much fun!

Dusted...Beignets are...oooo...so good! I think they're a French dessert. I'm not exactly sure what beignet itself means...But the dessert is basically a square donut that is absolutely DRENCHED in powdered sugar. But calling it a donut doesn't exactly do it justice...it's lighter and sort of crispier and much better than a regular donut (and I have no mean opinion of donuts...so you gotta know that beignets are REALLY good!). I wish I had a picture...I have to jet to class now, but I'll try to dig one up later!

Hi,
I just wanted to add two cents about the beignet. You can make a DELIGHTFUL ghetto beignet by taking the pilbury biscuit dough in a tube (yes, it's true!) and plopping one of those bad boys in about an inch of hot oil. They will puff up! Turn once and make the other side golden then pop them (I also love the 'semi homead' lady on the food network..she "pops" in everything) in a ziplock bag with some powdered sugar and VOILA! Ghetto Beignet!

True story.

I haven't heard of a parade with bagpipes -- is that at POFQ? What is it?

My mom says a parade gos though thare about once a week.
I'm not sure if its true or not, guess not.

Thanks for replying, great update.:thumbsup2
Keep them coming!

That looks like fun!
And is the pic Hollywood Tower Hotel?

That's the entryway for tower of terror... where the statues are...

hehe...

Loved the chapter!! Great as always! Movies cracked me up :)

Loved to hear Belle telling Beast that he needed breath mints! You obviously had a great time. :rotfl:

Your Minnie drawing is excellent -- not everyone walks out with a drawing that looks like that. I sure didn't!

Wow, in ALL my trips, I have never been in the animation building! Who knew there was so much fun stuff going on in there? The voiceover thing looks hilarious!

Did you know there's also a similar place where you learn to draw the characters at Disneyquest? Except there you draw them on a video screen, and it's a few dollars if you want to buy your drawing. I think I'll like the MGM one better- drawing on the screen is hard! (although the guy that taught it does sound a little weird!)

And I think I know that shot! Is it right across from the exit of TOT, near that little building?

HI Emma!

Great updates. Soory for my absense but I just returned from WDW yesteday!!! Whee!! I hope to start my trip report soon.

Cathy

Thanks for the great rundown of the Animator's Studio-- we'll definitely check it out next time. Your clip of Belle & the Beast cracked me up! That looks like something my 9-yr old DS will love! (And no, it's not "trite" to keep sharing and giving good advice to fellow DISers!:) )

Hope school is going well for you! My DH is an engineer (computer) and I have been with him all through his BS and then MS degrees-- you guys work really, really hard! Hats off to ya!:thumbsup2

Yay! The girls are back. We've been missing them in the last few installments.

The pastry in French is called a Palmier. The only reason I remember that is because it is the very first thing I ever bought in France. I love them. I sometime buy them at the bakeries in Chinatown here. It's too bad about your meal, but the flatbread looked absolutely delicious.

Hi girls!
That french food looks good.

Great Update Emma! I imagined it was midterms time. I was just hoping to get a couple of more chapters read before we go off on our adventure. 15 days to go!

I'm so hungry! I want a napoleon from the patissierie RIGHT NOW! Heh.
I hadn't been keeping up with your report lately what with my trip and all, so I had several episodes to catch up on.
I've never bought anything at the eggroll cart- or even noticed it!
but we had the same mack and captain jack when we were there - mack was hilarious.
except for the part where he ate a fry off the ground. :scared:

Glad to see a new posting. Thanks for all the info about AG doll clothes. My daughter was so excited when she learned that I had asked where to get them. We actually found them everywhere! Felicity spent most of our vacation dressed as Belle. She was adorable!

Also, the mouskeeper at our resort had Felicity doing a variety of things while we were there. From reading a book (with my glasses :), watching TV, conferring wishes on the stuffed animals, and even preparing for a bath with Eyore standing by with toothbrush and toothpaste in hand.

Thanks for the info. My DD and I love seeing your girls at DW.

Yours,
JC
