And note to you and BomaJack, my DH was somewhat happy to see the shuttle didn't launch today and that it may go up Wed since we will be in Florida that day Do you have a recommendation on where to go to see that? We don't want to go to far from the parks that day so looking for somewhere near them to see it from. Any recommendation?

We have a great view from our front yard! Party in the 'burbs!

As long as it's a clear day and your view eastward isn't obstructed, you should be able to see it at Disney. I've seen it driving home on the highway.

I will tell you that this is the way that my friendship with JoAnn #1 and Lucy got started! It was four years ago prior to the Mexican Riviera cruise that I met them on the Dis....now four years later our families are all sailing together again........a total of I believe 19 of us! Today I talk, email or text them both more than once a week. I am proud to say that my "BFFs" were made right here on "The Dis"!!!!!!!

Well, it all makes more sense now! I thought you guys had just really bonded on this board for this cruise! How cool that you've sailed together before!

And I was laughing out loud at the Cubs comment, too, but I only got the joke because I'm a big fan of Major League. I'm horrible with sports... I'm pretty sure that Marcy secretly makes fun of me for being a shame to all manly men with my inability to appreciate pretty much any game apart from ping-pong.

The first few years were rough when I would start watching the NCAA basketball games and you were like, "What's this 64 thing?" I've gotten over it, but there is still some residual Big 10 angst that you grew up in Indiana but can't name the Big 10 teams!

Still up It is 11pm here. DS13 is stressing about starving to death on the flight tomorrow and is packing half the pantry into his backpack. We are leaving in 4 and a half hours. and still awake and drinking wine, guess i won't be taking the benadrile (sp?) to help me sleep tonight. Walked the extra 2 gallons of milk to the neighbors as well as the dozen red roses I rec'd for my anniversary (they had barely opened and were soooo beautiful Someone HAD to enjoy them!) Hmmm now what?

OMG DS13 is moving on to the frozen girl scout cookies...."will taga a longs melt in the airplane?" "No, Jimmy..." "what about thin mints?" Yes DD16 still in girl scouts but doesn't sell cookies so I just buy and freeze.

Where in Indiana did Greg grow up???? How can you grow up in Indiana and not know a little about basketball?
I live a rough life as the only Hoosier in DH family! They are all Buckeye fans.........................

I wouldn't put too much stock into whether or not it's going to launch on Wednesday. With a 40% chance of rain, there's a good chance that it'll get scrubbed (yet again), so I'd play that one by ear if I was in your shoes.

Like I mentioned earlier, you should be able to see it from DTD without much problem, so worst case scenario you're just a little further away. I'd hate for you to drive all that way only to be disappointed! But if you DID get to see it up close, at least you could say you saw it... I don't think there's but eight or so launches left in the shuttle program, and so it might be your last chance!

Very true Greg. Afternoon/evening launches are a bear! Going to Titusville is pretty cool. The rumble is amazing. I grew up in Titusville (not that I brag about that)...my parents live in the same house they did when the first shuttle flew back when I was in elementary school. They have had windows and walls crack from all the launches. For years before the first launch they would test with dynamite blasts. It is true...for landings...you never get use to the sonic boom. No matter how hard you prepare.....it comes and it scares you to death. I can't count the number of times I've reminded myself it was coming and two seconds later I still hit the floor!

You COULD get one of those nifty little tripods from Target. I think they're about eight bucks, and fit in your front pocket. They extend out to the point that they're not too shabby when sitting on a picnic table or the like, and don't take up any room. I always keep one in my camera bag for stuff like this.

You should see his camera bag.... photography is his self funding hobby - I'm still waiting for the "self funding part"

We're staying at the Ron Jon anyway, so we're not making an extra trip, just an earlier trip than we had planned. I'd like to get down there before the crowds arrive, too.

On our honeymoon in '89 we saw a launch from Disney - it was pretty cool. This one I'd hate to miss, since we're staying so close. DH is moaning he really wants to bring his tripod, but it's one more thing to haul.

This may force a complete repacking!!

That's awesome! But it would probably be better if we all just went ahead and booked another cruise for next year, all together, so we can just continue discussions on another thread. You know, just to be safe.

Hi all!

Well, all the bags are packed and in the car - except the one we're throwing the last minute toiletries, etc. into. The carry-ons are waiting for the girls to wake up to stick blankies and stuffed animals in.

We will be up at 4:15 and head out at 5:15 to the airport. I imagine that if I try to get on the boards in the am, DH will shoot me.

So.....bon voyage everyone!

Well, it looks like we're on the same travel schedule, we leave at 4:30am thursday morning.......I was up at about 3am yesterday but today I slept until 6:30am......I'm always afraid I'll oversleep!
