July 18 Tortola cruise part 3

One year we were on the Boarwalk when the shuttle broke he sound barrier! OMG what an amazing experience!

Bwa hah hah! Now imagine that at five in the morning! It shakes plates in the cupboards like an earthquake... It got to the point that I started reviewing landing times just so I could prepare from them, and not be scared to death every time it happens. :)

Working on convincing dd12 we can forgo shopping at DTD on Wednesday to get to the Cape and Ron Jon early to avoid traffic and stake a claim to a prime beach spot at the Ron John to watch the launch ... :cool1:

That's awesome! :) But it would probably be better if we all just went ahead and booked another cruise for next year, all together, so we can just continue discussions on another thread. You know, just to be safe. :)

The thread from the 2006 cruise that Virgil, his family and my family met on is still going strong. A lot of us are also on Facebook, but it's nice to keep the thread going.

I wouldn't put too much stock into whether or not it's going to launch on Wednesday. With a 40% chance of rain, there's a good chance that it'll get scrubbed (yet again), so I'd play that one by ear if I was in your shoes. :)

Like I mentioned earlier, you should be able to see it from DTD without much problem, so worst case scenario you're just a little further away. I'd hate for you to drive all that way only to be disappointed! But if you DID get to see it up close, at least you could say you saw it... I don't think there's but eight or so launches left in the shuttle program, and so it might be your last chance!

Does this mean we can't all book another cruise? :sad1: I was really hoping to use that as leverage to convince Marcy. :)

We're staying at the Ron Jon anyway, so we're not making an extra trip, just an earlier trip than we had planned. I'd like to get down there before the crowds arrive, too.

On our honeymoon in '89 we saw a launch from Disney - it was pretty cool. This one I'd hate to miss, since we're staying so close. DH is moaning he really wants to bring his tripod, but it's one more thing to haul.

And by the way, why isn't soccer a winter sport? It's, like, a hundred in the shade down here, and still they insist on having games in the summer!
I have wondered that too! In the fall we have to worry about SNOW and COLD! I remember one game there was 3 inches of snow on the ground and the temps were in the 30's. The ref wouldn't call the game!

Make her drink a waterted down gatorade. My kids are always queasy after FL soccer.
Thanks thats what I did and she seemed much better. I let her her lay down for a while and then I let her go to the last hour and half of practice.

I am jealous of everybody who gets to spend some time at WDW before the cruise!! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I am so jealous too! I could not concentrate at work at all today. Too busy day dreaming and checking out the posts!
We are spending 4 days after the cruise...

I could not believe today iin class... I had 28 kids that were AWESOME...
no back talk, no smart lip, nothing today... they just worked their little tails off for almost 7 straight hours.....

What do you think my chances of that repeating itself for the next 3 days are?

... AND....

I am SO proud of my DD. She took her first AP test last Spring as a Sophomore in high school... she took the AP Computer Science test, which is probably one of the hardest (along with Calc and Physics) that the AP realm offers. The scores range from 1 to 5. This years free response was very brutal! Infact, a lot of CS teachers argued back and forth before we came up with answers to the free response questions....

Drumroll please........

She got a "4". Mom would have really have liked a "5" (for pride sake), but I'll gladly take her 4.

Congrats to dd!:thumbsup2

who's gonna get it?

Congrats to you for making a pirate: I'm so jealous!

Huh! 'Cause I have a PC which automatically sets off an alarm fifteen posts prior, as well as three PCs running as redundant backup in case the others go down, a Blackberry with multiple alarms, and two neighbor kids who I pay three bucks an hour to keep vigil, just to be safe...

Wow! That is fantastic! Still trying to convince DH that I'd like to go on another one, but he's still up in the air.

We went for a walk tonight and what am I talking about - everyone here and trying to catch him up on you! :thumbsup2 He says that I'm obsessive about this - especially a pirate! pirate:One day....

Well good night everyone. I hope its not as hot tomorrow, so we don't have a repeat of today for dd.

If I lived closer, I'd loan you mine! :)

You COULD get one of those nifty little tripods from Target. I think they're about eight bucks, and fit in your front pocket. They extend out to the point that they're not too shabby when sitting on a picnic table or the like, and don't take up any room. I always keep one in my camera bag for stuff like this. :)

I was thinking about taking the girls on Wednesday, but I'm not sure it's worth the risk of it getting canceled. It's our last solid day to get packing done (aside from Friday, which I'd rather not wait until), so we'll probably just watch from the yard if it goes up. Good luck getting to see it go!!!

Hi all!

Well, all the bags are packed and in the car - except the one we're throwing the last minute toiletries, etc. into. The carry-ons are waiting for the girls to wake up to stick blankies and stuffed animals in.

We will be up at 4:15 and head out at 5:15 to the airport. I imagine that if I try to get on the boards in the am, DH will shoot me.

So.....bon voyage everyone!

We'll see y'all in FL!!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

PS - the shuttle launched the last time we were at WDW - looks like we've set a trend! We missed the actual launch due to oversleeping on the naptime, but we were able to see the trail very clearly from the DTC.

PPS - :headache: I can't believe I missed my last pirate: race!

Last Race?!!!
Come on people we are halfway there!

Have a safe and painless flight! See you in a few!

Still doing the last minute packing. We leave in about 7 hours but it is only 8:45 here. Too early to go to sleep!
So you guys have late dining or early dining?
We requested late since that is still only 5:30 here.... (wow this is really bad fluff)

I can't believe how much there is to read each time I log back in!

I've started thinking about packing. Does that count?:confused3 I like Greg's thought that it doesn't matter if you pack early or late, I'll always forget something. I'm really trying hard this time not to over pack.

Waiting for the minutes to pass until my guys get home. They are on the plane. It has been a long two weeks. I made my son's one request was to have his favorite cake (hot milk cake with butter cream icing) for him when he gets home. He was already telling what he wanted for lunch and dinner on Tuesday. I guess 2 weeks of freeze dried food has that effect on a teenage boy? Good year to take a cruise for a vacation. He can eat non-stop before he goes to PA for a week. I think he still lives here. He does have two more years of high school.

It was fun reading about the children's sports and the weather. My BF lives in Ft. Lauderdale. In Dec. it does a number on my brain when she ends her email with "gotta take the kids to baseball practice." I look outside and there could be snow. I keep forgetting she doesn't live in MD anymore. Gets me every year.
