I am hosting over 400 Burkinabe nationals at the American Cultural Center today to watch the inauguration LIVE! I'm praying that everything works!!! (I have three TV's and a satellite connection to worry about!)

Glad it will be about 80 degrees! (Although people are complaining that it's a little chilly today. :rolleyes2 )

Guess I' better get ready - gotta go change clothes! :groom:

Complaining it is 80 degrees! :cold: :cold: :cold: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Good luck with the Inaugural coverage!

BTY, I hear that MS is verrrry busy today because it is the 11 window for theChristmas holiday. So we might just have to wait a few days to add the Grand Gathering to our ressies.

Well, we have snow today in the suburbs of Charlotte. It has been snowing since early morning.

Check out my rotating banner!!::yes:: :hyper: pixiedust: :beach: :thumbsup2

JoAnn- I love your banner!

Lot's of snow unfortunately school was delayed not closed. Which was kind of a nightmare in fact I'm still here wondering how I'm going to get home in this mess it is snowing again. I hate winter!!!!!!

Well, our snow is gone now. Just the way I like it- it's pretty to see coming down and covering everything and then goes away!!!

Hey JoAnn, how'd you do that????

to have off today - glued to the TV. Did you see the news and those children dancing with Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana last night - gave me goosebumps. I love any bit of news on the children and their mom...
can't wait to see her dress tonight. Sorry for the off-topic of the cruise, but today is SO historical in my mind....glad to be home and witnessing every minute of it. (and sitting in my warm house:flower3: )

So, Jo-Jo, did you do the rotating countdown or Tara? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
I LOVE it. Did you have a delay today? I saw alot of schools in your area had delays. Our area has alot of black ice but no delays or cancellations.

Anyone home and want to chat today - i'll be on-line.....have a GREAT day.:grouphug:

JoAnn- I love your banner!

Good luck today.

Thx to all for the banner comments........it took me a while to figure out but it's so cool........go on the ************** website.......choose your banner etc., and write down the jpg number and then you add them to the rotating banner part and it does work........it's so neat.......try it!:thumbsup2

Regular day at school.......no delay, messy roads in the morning, school has been H*** lately.........it will get better..........:crazy2: :scratchin

So here I am, up in the middle of the night again.........

Anyone else obsessed with "Housewives of Orange County?"

Since I'm still up.......I was reading some threads on the main forum.......this is advice on how to tour Tortola w/o a tour..........

<<Tortola is like my home away from home My husband and I charter a sailboat there and sail the BVI every year at least once! It is a little piece of heaven.

Whatever you do, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go with the rest of the folks to Cane Garden Bay when there are cruise ships in Road Town.

In general, you can get almost anywhere on Tortola for about $20/pp in a cab -- one way. That being said....if you skip all the taxis gathered at the dock and meander your way to the taxi stand by the Road Town ferry dock - just walk to your left, through the flea market as you get off the ship -- the ferry dock is across the street from Pusser's and there's a taxi stand right there.

I would recommend taking a taxi over to Trellis Bay for the day. Pack your beach bag, a towel, etc -- and head on over. Grab something to eat for breakfast at Da Loose Mongoose and hang out for a while -- there's also a free ferry service from Trellis over to Marina Cay -- which is GORGEOUS. Lovely beach, beautiful water, there's a Pusser's and a Pusser's Store on Marina Cay -- you can get yourself a painkiller (best rum drink in the universe) or 2 or 3...and just tell your taxi driver to meet you back at Trellis Bay in time to get you back to the ship.

You could also opt for heading over to Brewer's Bay for the day -- it's the beach right before you get to Cane Garden Bay -- also absolutely beautiful and might not be quite as crowded as Cane Garden -- there are limited places to park yourself as there is really only one beach bar so there's not a ton of beach chairs (if any) that might be available.

You could also opt for taking a taxi over to Long Bay Beach Resort if you wanted more of a "full service" atmosphere.

I would opt for a day at the beach any way you look at it on Tortola -- there are just too many beautiful ones! >>

Thanks for the info. We'll definitely be doing a beach day here.

My daughter passed her road test this morning. She's very excited!

Congrats to your daughter!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

I've been checking out Cruise Critic to see what they say. Tom & I are not big beachgoers and we will have a whole day at Castaway Cay. We like to tour wherever we go and see the island that way. Then, maybe a snorkle beach stop for an hour or two. We'll probably do a DCL excursion. Andrew recommended the Baths and they are supposed to be a good place to snorkle. So we'll see what times the excursions are offered before we decide.

St. Maarten doesn't seem to have a whole lot except Orient Beach and shopping. Anyone have any suggestions??

Haven't had a chance to check out St. Thomas/St. John. We haven't been to either and I would love to see both, but not sure how feasible this would be in one day. Any ideas?

We're also thinking of the Baths.

We were to St. Thomas and did a DCL excursion which gave a bus tour of the island and a couple of hours at a beach resort. I'd like to go to St. John's but I thnk it's mostly beach excursions. We really haven't decided yet what we're going to do.

There's a lot more than beaches on both islands, but, the beaches especially on St. John, are some of the most beautiful in the world.......I will be traveling there in April on a land trip, so I've been doing some research. Also, these will begin in the Spring so we can read their trip reports before we decide on excursions which should be an advantage........:beach:

I want to thank you for taking your precious time to go to the island before our trip to check out everything for this group! What a kind person you are:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :beach:

Wendy: congrats to your daughter!:cheer2: :car: I am NOT happy about teaching my son to drive....my husband DEFINITELY has more patience than I do with this task! For example: (and thank goodness this was in town and no other cars around!) he thought he didn't need to stop at the stop sign "because the guy in front of him didn't stop":scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: This is going to be a l-o-n-g spring!

Yes, JoAnn is right - we can see what everyone else is saying about the tours and the islands...what a great idea (as they say, JoAnn, the older you get, the wiser you get):rolleyes1  :rotfl2:

Joann: how was your inauguration coverage?:confused3 :grouphug:
