I know we tossed around setting a limit for the FE - and I agree with whomever originally asked the question, I hate to limit it! I'm guessing as staterooms are assigned and we get closer we'll have even more join us. But, my suitcase is going to explode!!! Delivering so many gifts will take a while, too! Instead of limiting the list, what if we divide the list?

I've got enough for 40 - and yes, my suitcase is going to explode too. :scared1: But I've already bought all this stuff, so I don't want to end up with no need for half of it. (There's no way for me to return it at this point!) :headache: If we end up with more than 40 - everyone will get different combinations from me, versus the whole little grab bag I was planning. :thumbsup2

And I'm sure that those who join late will understand if they don't get ABSOLUTELY everything. (I'm not going to be able to make any new special items for late-comers, for example.) But I'll just add a few extra pieces of candy or something to make up the difference.

It's the thought that counts after all. :grouphug:

Has anyone else noticed that for those of us on deck 6 - we all seem to be on the same side of the ship? Do you think they know about us?

It's the DIS QUARANTINE!!!!!!!!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

hey, does anyone know if we're on the right side to see Castaway Cay when we pull in??????:confused3:confused3 Now that we have a balcony, I'd really like to be able to see the island when we come into dock. :thumbsup2

Okay, I only made 70 gifts, so hopefully we won't get up to that many LOL!
I vote for not splitting the list. I'd hate to have only have get what I made :sad2:

Hi Everyone! This is our first time to post:yay: We have been following the thread for months and finally could not resist getting in on the conversation. I think we are officially addicted to at least reading daily. My sister (Charleen) has posted a few times on our entire groups behalf. So, we are already on the FE exchange list.

You guys are a fun group and we are getting so excited for the cruise. :woohoo: It is our first Disney Cruise with our DS(Jacob 9) and DD(Abigail 6). I hope to meet some of you at the meets so the kids can meet others their age.

So....the FE has been ordered, FE gifts are in process and the shirts have arrived. Thanks Virgil for such a great shirt design. We loved it so much my DH(Stan) and I had to have 2, one with the date and one without. In response to the above question, the one with the date does have a light gray block, even on a white shirt.

I also vote for not splitting.

I have enough for 40 as well. We are at 36 now???? I haven't checked the exact number lately. We will bring a little extra somethings just in case we have more than 40 but it won't be the whole packet.

For those that are making door signs:

If you have an Office Max close to you, they have a heavy duty laminating pouch - it’s a little bigger than a regular sheet of paper. They will take your sign, laminate it with the heavy duty pouch, and its only $1.10 per page.

You can then add the magnetic tape to the back of it. Its a LOT sturdier than the regular laminating or contact paper.

Not sure if any of the teachers on this board know this either but:

Teachers get to laminate at Office Max for free on Thursday thru the middle of September. No limit to what they will laminate for you.

Well, it's about time you stopped by!!!:cool1::goodvibes

I just had my FEs delivered yesterday including my door magnets!!:dance3:

Aaron and JoAnn #2, prayers and pixie dust to your family. :grouphug:

Do we still have 35 FE's?

How many people are doing the Grand Gathering at Epcot the night before we leave?

me - 4 people

I don't want to stop the FEs either, but how about this suggestion........find out when the first of us is leaving for this trip and stop it on that date? How does that sound?
I have my original order and then my extras which I can double up or just spread around to everyone if necessary......the more the merrier!

I think the Magic docks both ways, I'm not sure why, it may have to do with wind direction and weather?

:welcome: Tricia!!

I just changed my room number. We are now in #6600. I didn't want the solid wall verandah, so I switched it while they still had one to switch to!
I broke the trend and we are on the opposite side of the ship! Sorry for the inconvenience.

FE Update

I almost have my FE gifts complete :yay: Now I'm trying to decide if I should ship or carry on....

I have the 'bursting suitcase syndrome' and was wondering about shipping. Has anyone done it and what are the timeframes? HELP!!!! It's a hard choice DH getting less space or shipping FEs. Decisions, decisions :rolleyes1

I have not, but this is what the FAQ say:

PLEASE follow these instructions carefully!!!!!! UPDATED AS OF 2/25/2009

• ONE box per stateroom, no exceptions.

• The package must have the guest full name, ship, sailing date, stateroom number or GTY if you have not been assigned a stateroom number.

• The package also must have a packing slip attached to the outside of the box that details the contents of the package. For prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient. Your list may or may not be read but it must have one. Write packing slip on the outside of the envelope.

• NO FOODS/DRINKS OF ANY KIND, LIQUOR OF ANY KIND, FIREARMS, ETC.. Items that cannot be shipped to the Disney Cruise Line Warehouse and delivered to the ship include: food products (any and all food products including baby food/formula), beverages (liquor, water, etc.), chemicals, and luggage. These items will not be accepted at the warehouse and will be returned. This may cause the dogs to hit on your box and that would be a bad thing.

• The required size of the cartons you are shipping down have to be about the size of a record storage box 12 inches on a side and should not weigh more than 20 lbs. (This has been asked personally by Dave Adams who is the owner)

Address your package(s) to:

Disney Cruise Line Warehouse
Guest Name / Stateroom # (GTY, if you don't know what it is when you send the package)
8633 Transport Drive
Orlando, FL 32832
Phone: 407-566-8196

In the bottom left corner of the top of the package put the following information: ATTN: HOUSEKEEPING
*Name
*Sail Date
*Ship
*Stateroom Number
*Packing slip that details contents of the package (for prescriptions, a copy of the prescription is sufficient)

• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 7-Night Cruise on the Disney Magic (Saturday).

• Packages must arrive by Friday by 3:00pm for the 4-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Sunday).

• Packages must arrive by Wednesday by 3:00pm for the 3-Night Cruise on the Disney Wonder (Thursday).

If your box is hit on by the screening dog or chosen for additional screening they will open the list and the box and look through it. They will close it back up and provided nothing bad is in it then it will be in your room as usual later after boarding.

These boxes will be coming on the ship with the crew mail among other things so they may be in the staterooms later then they were before as they are low priority in the scheme of things for Disney.

I feel the same way about not wanting to stop the FEs - - as said, the more the merrier! At the same time though, there does come a point where I think it's fair and reasonable to say "when," and this seems to be a very practical suggestion. It might even make sense to cut it off a day or two BEFORE the date the first person is leaving for this trip just in case that day (the first person's departure day) brings an unexpected (and large) surge in additions to the FE list.

As for the Magic docking at Castaway Cay, I'm fuzzy on specific cruise dates at the moment, but would swear that we've docked one way on one cruise and the other on a different cruise, and that it was definitely weather-related.

:welcome::welcome::welcome:

This is gonna be fun, isn't it!

I have a 9 year old daughter eager to meet kids her age! PM me if you want and maybe they could "talk" ahead of time. Otherwise, we're planning to be on Deck 10 at sail away party. We're looking forward to meeting you!

Jamie

I thought about mailing our FE gifts too but realized I needed to make sure I had space for the new things to get home in my suitcase. I have spatial relationship problems anyway.

I've also planned for 36 people. I don't know what I would do with half of it? Ebay? Maybe I can start a business of making FE gifts for other cruisers to give out?

I agree that there should to be a cut off for the FE. If someone is just joinging that doesn't give them much time to pull together 35 FE gifts. They could still participate in the DIS Meet grab bag exchange.

FE-I think 10 days prior to sailing would be fair because as someone else mentioned, If you were signing up that late it would be difficult to collect or make that many FE gifts not the mention the FE itself. Also the last min packing rush would not really leave any time to continue to add to your final number. Jmho
