Just completed my online registration forms. The flight forms were a pain since they do not allow for those of us who are flying into Europe and changing planes there. The only European choice in the drop down box was Barcelona.

I have made my guest bedroom into "Packing Central" lol and am compiling stuff up there that I will need for the cruise. Also, DD and I found the toilet seat covers and travel size toilet papers in the grocery store yesterday. We bought them out of almost all of them, lol.

The DIS Meet in the Promenade lounge sounds great. Nice to meet you all prior to Sailaway Party where we may run into DIS friends again.

Have a nice Sunday everyone!

I think the Promenade lounge one hour before safety drill sounds like a great idea, Cindy.
We will also be arriving on the 17th and staying at the Atenea Mar. Our kids are similar ages to yours-bet we'll be able to meet up with you there also.

We are actually doing site seeing before the cruise-hard to believe that we are leaving in just over one month. It is really getting close! :cool1:

Angie

Angie - let's definitely try to meet up at the ATMA. Do you have your flight info yet? I'll post mine as soon as DCL makes the arrangements.

I'll add the new folks to the list and post it again shortly. I'm excited that we're getting to know more and more of our fellow-passengers! I was at Home Depot the other day and picked up some lime-green Mickey paint cards.

The meet at the Promenade sounds super.

I bought a new carry-on bag for the trip a few months ago and just read the rules on carry-on size restrictions. I momentarily freaked because it isn't returnable! Luckily I measured it and it falls within the restrictions.

I've been buying all sorts of travel items, too. I usually just bring full-size everything, but I definitely don't want to pay overages on this flight and I'd like to have room for loads of souveniers!

If I've missed you or your info has changed, let me know... we've got a pretty good sized group of DISers going!

So that means we'll have Brent! We had Rachel in Dec. 2005 and really liked her, but I've heard that Brent is really good, too, so it will be nice to experience a different cruise director. Thanks for checking on this as I was thinking we'd have Rachel again from early early early reports.

Peter is also on, so that could mean that it will be Brent and Peter. Peter was the assistant director along with Clayton (aka Hollywood). They had 2 for the EB. Clayton was training the new cruise staff that had come on board.

Clayton leaves after the first med cruise, so my guess is it will be Brent and Peter.

Hi Linda

Welcome to the thread :welcome:.

You are so lucky to have already done the eastbound TA and then to be coming back for the Med cruise.

I would be grateful if you could let me know if there a minimum age for the segway tour in Barcelona, how long it lasts. and what sights you get to see. It sounds really interesting but I dont't know if it would suit us. Thanks

Andrea

Edgar advertising the segway tour at about 2 to 2 1/2 hours, but we spent 3 hours and it was just Robert and I. You meet in St. Jaume Square which is where he trains each of you individually on the segway and has you practice going forward, backward and turning. It was actually easy and I picked it up no problem.

Then we took off through the Gothic Quarter which was the original Roman town built in Barcelona. Edgar gave us all the history about the city walls and showed us all the remnants of the Roman city. We went down narrow 3-4 feet streets which we would have never known existed had we not gone on this tour. We rebooked to take our 15 year old daughter because we knew she would be educated while enjoying the segway (which she has been dying to do).

After we left the Gothic quarter, we headed out to the beach and then we rode the segways all the way down the beach to the old garment district and then we headed up to the zoo and then went into the park and saw the boating lake and the waterfalls and got our picture taken in front of the lake. Then we headed back to the city while he pointed out structures from the 1992 Olympics.

Then we headed back to the Gothic quarter where he showed us the plaque on the roman walls with the information on the original city.

From all our excursions on the ship, and the segway tour we did on our own, after we returned home my mother asked us what the best thing about our trip was and both Robert and I agreed that it was the segway tour.

Anyway, Edgar speaks excellent english and was great. I tipped him and I think he was in shock as they are not used to getting tipped. We rebooked to take our daughter on the 5 pm tour on Tuesday July 17.

He told me that 13 is about the age for the segway.

Hope that helps.

Seaulater thanks for the info on the sedgway tour :thumbsup2 it sounds great. I don't know if we will manage it because my DD will only turn 12 in August but I have heard there is a bike riding tour, have you heard of this?

Andrea

Don't know about specific biking tours, although I know you can rent bikes. They do have walking tours of the same areas that we were doing by Segway.

Hi Everyone!

It is amazing to see so many names on the list:woohoo:

Cindy, Deborah and anyone else with similar age children...my two DS's know no strangers. They love to play with any kids that they meet. They also love the kids clubs. I bet it would be even more special if they met some of your children at the onset of the cruise and then could reconnect with them in the club.

Cindy- Unfortunately my DNephew Conner will not be accompanying us on the cruise :sad1: , so you can remove him from the master list. I think it would be great to say hello at the hotel. We arrive in Barcelona at 13:35 on the 17th. We are flying on Jet Blue from Paris. We will already be in Europe for 10 days, so will not have the jet lag that you will be suffering. If all goes well, we should certainly get in some sightseeing that day. Let me know when your flight information becomes available.

I think the easiest thing to do is to send you a PM with our full name. When you have arrived at the ATMA, call our room or leave us a message so that we can connect. There are so many variables, so we can just plan a meeting based on your schedule when we get there.

I too spent some money at Target buying the Charmin travel toilet paper yesterday. Charmin is going to wonder what happened when they get the emergency call from Target for more supplies!:rolleyes1

Ok, I just got off the phone with DCL and the rep told me that for the Med. cruises, the air is done 45 days out but it won't be posted on the web until 21 days out. But I can call between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. (877-566-0967) and they should be able to give me the carrier, flight numbers, etc. so that I can then contact the airline for seat assignments.

So I'm going to call tomorrow to find out if they have my flight info. I'm so excited!!!! And a little bit anxious - crossing fingers and hoping for pixie dust for non-stops from ATL to BCN.

Anyone else waiting on DCL flight info? She did tell me that for Caribbean cruises the flight info is at 30 days rather than 45. My TA had told me 30, so that makes sense why she would say that.

We got our flight info. today from Disney. I called them first thing this am then they emailed the itinerary to me. Our flights going are great, Tulsa to Atlanta then straight to Barcelona. We will arrive at 11am on the 18th.

On the way home though we have to go Barcelona to Madrid to Miami to Dallas to Tulsa. It will be a long day with our two little ones. I was so excited to finally get our travel arrangements though. The lady I talked to said we would get our room assignments and travel docs 2 weeks prior to sailing. I can't believe it is getting so close!!!!! Hope you get the flights you want.

~Kathleen

We got our flight info this morning - I was on the phone at 9:03 a.m. and like Kathleen, they emailed the flight info to us. And thanks for all the pixie dust - we have the non-stop ATL to BCN going on the 16th and coming home on the 28th - so Lissa, I think we have the same flights as you....

Delta 114 going
Delta 115 coming home

Kathleen - what flight do you have from ATL to BCN? I bet you're on the same flight.

You know this means we have a pre-flight DIS-Meet!

How early do we have to arrive for international flights? Anyone know the recommendation? I want to be sure to be there in plenty of time but not so much ahead of time that we're exhausted before we start. We'll be going up to ATL a few days ahead as my brother lives in the area.
