Scottish - gotcha updated!

I wonder if the ship will sell out or if there will end up being a lot of upgrades?!

Hi Cindy

Nah, I got the feeling that it is not sell out.

I am hoping for upgrading :thumbsup2 lol

So you don't think it will sell out? Has anyone heard how quickly it's filling up? Have they drasticly raised the prices like they did with the like they did with the repo cruise last time?

Scottish-We aren't sure where we are flying into. London looks the cheapest, but then once you factor in the price to get to Paris, it almost comes out even. We will definately hit DLP before our cruise. I'm awfully excited to surprise the kids with that little jewel!

My dentist just got back from Italy and said to skip Piza and go straight to Venice. Wait....are those the two choices at that port? Well...whatever the other option is when we dock, go to the one opposite to Piza. She said Piza is nice, but only worth an hour tops. It's a 2 hour drive to the other big city.

Oh! There's a slim chance we may host an Exchange student from Spain for a month starting June 29! I can get the inside scoop on what not to miss in Spain!!!

I'll check back again soon!

If you want to visit DLRParis, I should recommend to fly directly to Paris, and from there on to Barcelona. (Unless you want to visit London as well...) You will need at least 2 days to visit the park, but if you can: make it a 3 day stop.

Pisa is nice, but it's just a (worlfamous) tower on a square... who's trying not to fall over. :rotfl: La Spezia is a long way from Venice: I don't think there will be enough time to visit it. On the other hand: "nearby" you also have Firenze: wonderful, but crowdy and hot during the summer... That can be a perfect day: from La Spezia via Lucca to Firenze, and then going back via Pisa to the port of Spezia. All those city's are connected with (fast)motorways...

Hi Kitty

If you want to go to Paris for Disneyland, I think you better flying to Paris, if expensive, flying to London then euro train or flying to Paris. Find the prices first.

I have email to my dis'er and she said :

(Pisa in Italy is worth a visit - did it years ago when you could walk up the tower and I was braver. Venice is the other side of the country and can only think they are talking about Florence which is north of Rome and in the middle. Venice is on the Adriatic not the med.

Around Pisa what is well worth a visit if you like to see the real italy is the Cinque Terre Villages.)

I have search about La Spezia to Pisa take 47 mins by train. But I wait and see, perhaps near the time, dcl excursion, if it is expensive. So we will plan ourselves, find way to Pisa.

I have been looking for Venice and it take around 6 hours from Pisa!! I always want go there but i know it is far away and times not worthing.

Exchange student from Spain: learn spainsh laugauges :chat:

Scottishwee35 :thumbsup2

It's Pisa or Florence as the cities for that day in port -- I've heard that Florence is the better choice; however, my boys want to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and honestly, so do I! Even if there isn't a lot to do in Pisa, that's ok - it will be at a time when we're likely to be ready for a shorter excursion day anyway.

Ah - I just looked - it's the day after Rome, so I know we'll be ready for a shorter day. The itinerary says we'll be docked 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

I meant to post yesterday as we hit the 13 month point in our count-down, but I got delayed - so now I can say YIPPEE! We're less than 13 months to go! :cheer2:

The prices have gone up a little (I just checked our categories and for the five of us it would be around $2500 more) but they haven't gone sky high as predicted. I wonder to what extent that is because they started the pricing too low for the east coast cruises... Maybe this time they realised that if they priced the early bookings higher and had smaller jumps between the levels they would get a better return? As for upgrades and so on, we can but hope. They only appear to be offering guarantee rooms now. But that could mean any number of things...

The trip from a london airport to DLP would probably take at least half a day, once you've factored in immigration, picking up luggage, transfers to plane/train, checkin, travelling etc etc. It's probably far quicker to just go straight to France. And easier too :thumbsup2 We're going to Paris in September by Eurostar (from London Waterloo) and it's going to take nearly four hours. We're also thinking about going to DLP in January (fingers crossed) so if you need any info etc let me know and I'll see what I can find out.

The other option is likely to be Florence, which is supposed to be lovely. But as Cindy said, it'll be the day after Rome, I think we'll all be suffering from travel overload by then and will want a nice quiet day ;)

DSister! Thats ME! :wave2: I'm Alice. Can you tell I am excited! I just know i am going to fall in love with cruising with mickey. Pal Mickey is too, such fun! If we are all already excited, whats it going to be like this time next year.... :p  What it is to love disney.

Well, I finally found all of you! My DH and I will be joining you also. Our first Med. cruise. We traded our DVC points for this one. WOW! How nice is that?! Just need to figure out about booking air & trans. with Disney or on our own......not quite sure yet. But, boy! I just can't wait!!!!! Been to Italy, but sure can never have enough time there.

DVC - welcome - glad to have you. We joined DVC in March and hope to use some of our points in future years for cruising. Post your info about who's cruising with you and your cabin assignment (even if it's just a GTY) and I'll update you on the list of who's traveling with us. FWIW, we're using DCL for our air and hotel and transfers going over and back - and pricewise, it was comparable to what I was able to find for this summer, so I suspect it will be comparable for next summer, and it takes one more thing off my list of things to do. We're assigned to the Aetna Mar (I think that's the name of it).

And ALICE (GadgetGirl) - welcome to the board, too!

One year and 10 days til we sail! This time next year, I'll be packing!
