July 17th?

I thought July 17th was the actual 50th anniversary of DL... Can anyone please confirm this for me?

If July 17th is the anniversary... will WDW be having any special celebration on that day?

In any case, they should have a special celebration on that day - It's my birthday!!!

It's my b-day too!!! That's why I was asking... we'll be there and usually celebrate my b-day in WS... but if there's a big celebration at MK.... I'll have to go there too!!!

Yes I finally found this topic again! First off, miste76 and I share the best day to have a birthday! Go us!!

And yes, the actual day that Disneyland opened was July 17, 1951 I believe. They probably didn't want the celebration to start right in the middle of summer because of the oppressive heat and it's also one of the busiest times of the year because of school summer vacations. Heat + Lots and lots of regular people = Not a good idea.

Why May 5th though? I have no idea.

7/17 is my birthday also!

Thought about going to DL and then decided that I didn't want our first trip there to be when it was so crowded. I just think it would be so cool to be at DL that day.

This is my DS birthday also! I am always thinking 7 should be lucky number because my older DS also has a 7 in his birhtday. He was born on Sept. 7.

Too bad we'll be at Disney in June, it would be fun to celebrate his birthday on the actual day DL opened.

We will be there as well from 7/15-22 - and it is my DW and DSIL's birthday on the 17th as well! Looking forward to celebrating everything with everyone!
