We have a Make a Wish child going. What is the event on Sat? We know of at least 3 families on the July 17 cruise that are MAW kids. So whats going on Sat?
Can you buy the DCL pillowcases from aboard the ship or you just brought others with you?
Thanks for the info and we will have tons of fun cruising the Disney.
Michele
Hi Michele,
If I remember correctly the fundraiser is for the entire MAW Foundation, and there are families attending from OC and LA chapters. They are granting some wishes while on board, and others are previous wish receivers. I do not know how they chose who attends. It is a huge star studded red carpet event, with lots of games, dinner and fun on board all over the ship. They have a bunch of honorary cruise directors. Go to www.wish.org and click on Evening of Magic button to read more.

As far as the pillow case, I bought a white for my son and a pink one for my daughter at Target and brought them with me. You can bring a T shirt, hat or anything you want signatures on.

Have a great vacation, and order a mickey ice cream for me! Yum

Hi Jill - Thanks for he great ideas! The Disboard has been so great in helping my fam get ready & excited. Regarding the dollars do you mind my asking how many you took? I was planning on bringing on envelope w/ $100.00 but didn't know if that would be enough or overkill :confused3 . I know it depends on how many times you order from Rm service but I am curious what others bring.

Regarding the MAW party, how very lucky you get to attend! :cool1: Are they really having a red carpet? And do you have any idea when the guests are arriving? My DD16 & DD13 adore Johnny Depp and we read he is scheduled to attend. We are staying in San Pedro on Saturday night and hope to maybe get a glimps of him.

Thanks again for sharing!

Hi Bethany
I brought 2 envelopes w/ $100 in each, which is a very thick envelope of 1's..... We had 2 rooms, 1 DH, DS 12, DD 6 and me and the other my mom, DS 15, DS 21, so I had 1 envelope in each room, just in case. As far as tipping in the bars, lounges and restaurants on board, you just add it on the receipt they give you to sign for you KTTW card, just remember they automatically charge a 15% tip to the total. So we didn't use any dollars for that. I brought back just a bit over $100 total. We used it for porters, room service (2 or 3 times daily it seemed), taxi's at port, drinks and small souvie's on the beach, and any other small tip services. There was one time at El Cid resort that I had to use a $20 to pay for drinks by the pool and got peso's back for change, which we quickly used for the next purchase.

Yes, I heard Johnny Depp will be attending, although there has not been a final attending listing made. There will be tons of security and no private cars allowed in the port area, only limo's, towncars, busses, media/press etc. I don't know the surrounding area very well, so I'm not sure of any viewing areas for public use.

I feel extremely fortunate to be onboard and part of the exciting night with these 2 awesome organizations.

Have a wonderful trip.
Jill

Jill - Thanks for your answers on $1 bills it helps a lot. A couple families on this thread are also going to El Cid. Some to swim some to shop close by. Did it live up to its rep?

Hello all

sorry to have disappeared for a while...we were up in Northern CA visiting relatives. We are slowly but surely packing now that we are down to 2 more days!!

Jill - Thank you so much for taking time to offer such helpful advice about your cruise. That is what I really like about the DIS Boards. Everyone is sooooo helpful and nice! :flower: (I guess if you love Disney then you are naturally sprinkled w/ extra pixie dust!) :wizard:

I will try to get to Scoops w/ my family at 3:00 on Sunday. Hope to see you all there!

Janice :earsgirl:

Hi all & Bye all - The car is slowing being loaded and we will be on our way in a couple of hours. See you all at Scoops!

:thewave: :jumping1: :thewave:

Hi All
Hope that everyone made it home safely. :earsboy: Thanks to all the families that made our cruise so special. Just went through my pictures and found that I took close to 800. :rotfl2: Cherie has started washing and the kids are off playing. Talk to you all soon!
Roger

hi everyone - we're home safe and sound! We were able to get an earlier flight, so got home about 3 hrs earlier than expected. good to be home, but so sad its over. Thanks to all of you who made the cruise magical. Lets all post in the next few days and find out how everyone's cruise turned out. :earsboy: Off to cnn.com to see what happened in the world while we were gone . . .

Hi everyone! We are home too and all are well after a very very bumpy flight into Richmond. Sorry we didn't make the meet at Scoops(I will explain later). Just wanted to give a quickTHANK YOU to our "Disboard Fairy" for the treats left on our door. Will write more later.

Bethany--loved reading your "Live" thread. I am glad that we were represented :bounce:

Hi All

Sorry to have missed you at Scoops. I got there about 3:20 but didn't "see" anyone. (I really didn't know what or who to look out for but I was hoping to spot one of Bethany's t-shirts) We were at Vista Spa signing up for spa treatments and workouts at 3:00 and got held up!

We all had a great time and hope everyone else did too! I gained 3 lbs and so did my DH! I was very concerned about getting seasick before the cruise but I didn't get sick at all!! I took ginger tabs 3X/day and also Meclazine. I even survived the night we had the big 8-12 ft waves! My DS7 and I sat on the couches in front of guest services from 9-11pm and waited until our eyes were ready to shut before we went to our rooms. Our room was moving sooo much! (we were on Deck 5 Forward)

We got 2 photo mats and 2 pillow cases signed. We hung out at El Cid in Mazatlan and took a glass bottom taxi in Cabo. We are ready for our next cruise now that we know I can survive 12 ft waves!

Thanks so much Bethany for taking the time to share your days on board for those who are eager for their cruise. I know I loved reading the prior "Live" reports and they really got me pumped for the cruise!

Roger - were you and your daughter in one of the trivia contests as the Goofy Team?? I had to leave early to pick up my kids from the club so I didn't get to stop and ask you. I think you were winning.

Gotta download my 200+ photos to my computer and finish unpacking. Does anyone still feel the ship rocking?? I still can!

Janice :earsgirl:

Hi Everyone!

We had a great time on the cruise and at Disneyland before. We didn't 'see' anyone at the scoops meet; we got there about 3:15-20. Not sure where everyone was. Sorry we missed it. Any hoo, we did meet up with Cherta on Friday. It was great to put a face to the name.

I can't express how much I loved the ship and the cruise experience. My DD loved it too. I think one of the best things is that no one got sea sick in our group. The wild night was something else. For us, a Disney vacation would not be complete with out a weather incident (Hurricane Charley last August).

Our excursions were enjoyable and I am glad we were able to see some of the state of Sinoloa. We would definetly go to Cabo on its own.

DisneyTart-Thanks so much for the door sign. It was really neat to walk up to our door and see the sign. I'll have to read your live thread.

Thanks, everyone, for all the tips and tricks we've shared over the last few months.

Yes that was us as the Goofy team (We did not even ask for that). And yes we won the contest. :cool1: :bounce: It was a lot of fun. DW missed most of it since she had to pick up DD4 from the club. DD10 carried us to victory. We are now the proud own of the Limited Edition Plastic Medals. :rotfl2: To DD10 it is gold!!
Sorry we did not meet up.
Only 200+ pictures. I had at least 800 from my camera and 100 or so from DW's Camera.

Hi everyone,
Sorry to have been MIA, but I had a HUGE project on my desk waiting for me at work, not to mention a million thing at home, so I apologize for the late post (hopefully you guys are still checking the thread)!

I can't begin to describe how much fun we had on the cruise; suffice it to say that I shed a tear when we left the boat! :sad1: I must confess that I had no idea what to expect, but everything exceeded what few expectations I did have! I thought the cast members were OUTSTANDING and I just wish I could've remembered all their names so that I could give them kudos on the comment card.

I enjoyed meeting you all at various times throughout the cruise and I especially want to thank Bethany, the DIS fairy, and Roger, Cherie, Maddie and Austyn for adding that extra Magic that made the experience all the more special! Let's all plan to cruise again when they bring that third ship permenantly to the west coast! :cool1:

Take care everyone and thank you all for the months of information, comradery, and good wishes!! I'll check back soon when I get out from under this mountain of work! :(

Debbie

Hi Everybody! I hope I'm not too late, but I just wanted to say welcome home to everybody. I'm sorry that we also missed the Scoops meet as we also showed up at about 3:20. We were probably looking straight at some of you without even knowing it. I did get to see Roger and Cherie at the Sail Away Party and Patty at the Randi's Happy Horses Excursion.

Thank you so much to Bethany for the door sign. My family was so impressed with my "connections." That was just really thoughtful of you. I didn't realize how important a door sign would be on the cruise, but it was very useful for my kids. At one point I was walking through the Walt Disney Theatre Lobby and heard a husband say "Bethany" to a lady with dark hair and wondered if that was you, but couldn't be sure. I read your live reports and it was so fun to relive the cruise when we returned. Thanks for representing us.

Everybody, if you are still here, be sure and go read Roger's trip report if you haven't already...I really enjoyed it. I also looked through all of the pictures and found my family in one of them!!

Hope everybody is safe and sound and settled back into real life. It was a wonderful trip full of great memories. I'm still trying to get everything written down, but I fell behind and I'm only to Tuesday in my journal.

Take Care,
Amie

Glad that you enjoyed the pictures and trip report. I found this picture of your hat at the sailaway party. :rotfl2: We kept seeing you around the ship with it.

Hi everybody. Just got the coveted Castaway Cay CD in the mail. Did anybody else get it?

Roger-loved your trip report and the pictures. I got a really nice shot of Los Archos(?) from the ship that I will try to post.

Take care all.

Hi everyone - We just got our Castaway Key cards and cds as well. Makes me want to plan another trip soon! Actually, I think we'll try and cruise again in 2007. Next year is a little too soon for the old checkbook. Anyway, hope everyone is doing well - its sad to see our thread sliding down - cause it means our cruise is in the past. :guilty:

Got nostalgic and decided to pay a visit to the website!
We got our Castaway Club stuff a little while ago, although I haven't looked at it. I wish it was centered around the Mexican Riviera and not the Carribean, but I know it wouldn't be very cost effective!
I'm sad to see the thread sliding down too! I know nothing last forever, but it feels like we were all on the boat just yesterday! Guess I need to start saving for another cruise-hopefully by the time I have the money, Disney will have launched their new West Coast itinerary..... :flower:

Hope everyone is well,

Debbie

P.S. Hi Patty-hope you and Allison are well! Wanted to let you that it was a pleasure meeting both of you and the girls and I enjoyed seeing you throughout the cruise!

P.S.S. HI Donnetta-glad Erica and I got to meet you and Clarke as well-too bad it was on the last night!

Hi All
Yes it struck me too the other day realizing that it was August 17th and that it had been a whole month since our cruise. Debbie it does seem like yesterday. Still making picture CD's for family members and waiting for the 2007 schedule. In some ways I wish in some ways that we would have rebooked on board for next year, but it was too soon. Just do not know if we can wait for 2007. Once they announce the schedule and we decide where we want to go we will feel much better. Hope everyone is doing well. Hard to beleive that school is about to start. We will at least be able to relive our trip while watching the Repo cruise. Keep in touch.
Roger
