July 17th 2005 Magic?

We're falling off onto page 2 so thought I'd better bump.

Also have read some of the posts on the July 2 Cruise Meet thread and some of the cruisers have alreayd started posting cruise reports. They all sound like they had a great time! Here's a link for the intereted:

We are heading to DL tomorrow, decided not to do next Saturday as it might be pretty crowed. Girls & DH want to do Space Mountain (it officially opens 7/15, but has been doing soft openings this past week). I want to do a bit of last minute shopping and pin trading. :cool1:

Hi everyone!! Well, we survived DD's birthday party - she turns 7 on friday, but we had her party yesterday. I'll try to start packing now - I cant believe we are leaving in less than a week. How much are you packing in the way of kid's clothes? I'm not sure on the number of "nice" shorts, since she'll probably wear skorts or skirts to dinner - and her bathing suit most of the day. What do you think? Also, how about warm clothes? I'm really trying not to overpack, but I always do, so . . . .

Hello everyone! I hope y'all had a great weekend. I was just starting to pack my stuff... which I should have started way before now I guess. Oh well... For those of you who have cruised before I have a question regarding the phones in the rooms. Can people call your phone from the U.S.? Does it cost the same if they call you instead of you calling them? Oh yeah and are nice casual capris ok for dinner? My mom is freaking out because they are not pants but I think they're okay. Any ideas?

Hi everyone,
We are so excited and a little sad now. Excited that we are about to start our vacation and sad that it will all be over too too soon :sad2:
But we leave at 6:00 Thursday morning and will see you guys on the ship.

Patti---we always overpack. Your plans seems great. Shorts and skirts are perfect for dinner and just some shorts for roaming the ships seem fine.

Amber---yes you can receive phone calls on the ship. It is very expensive...I think it is like $8 a minute. The number should be in your DCL Passport. The number is 888-322-8732. I assume you get a switchboard person who then connects you to the stateroom. We like to use the phone for wake-up calls. It's Captain Mickey :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Hi All -

Donnette - We went to DL yesterday... I have to make a recommendation. You have to go see the "50 years of Magical Moments" in the opera house at DL. It is a terrific exhibit and 15-20 minute show. It's where the American Presidents ususally are. We saw it for the first time last night and it was great!

Amber - do you have a cell phone? If so check w/ your provider they may be able to add international roaming, the phones should work in most places in mexico. That's how we plan to keep in touch w/my parents at home.

Patti - From what I understand capris are fine at regular dinners. As far as more clothes...I would pack at least a pair of long pants and a sweatshirt or light jacket for each. I personally am bringing a sweater & ponchos for myself because I hear the dining room can be chilly. I get cold very easily.

We bought DH a new suit for formal night, he finally agreed after I threatened to rent him a tux. :rotfl: And packing...yeah right, I haven't even got the suitcases down yet. :earseek:

Did they have golden Mickey ears? Saw your post on cruise board, so I know to get them before leave.

So we are getting all our junk together. I went through the motorhome and got some medical supplies out of there if needed. Hubby is off on thursday and we will pack then. He doesn't want to do anything Sat. and leaving early Sunday so I will be ready. Hopefully we won't forget anything.
Disneytart--So DL was worth it! I wish we could go too. Hubby wants to get to port early so we can make res. for brunch at Palo's. How many mornings do they have that? Mon Tues and Fri I hope. We'll take Fri.
Donnetta--See you in a couple of days. Be safe.

Yes they have lots of Golden Mickey Ears at DL and at the "World of Disney" store in DTD.

Michele - I think you can still make reservations online for Palo. You just need to sign up on the official Disney Cruise site & have your reservation # OR you could call the reservation phone# and see if they can help you.

I AM ON VACATION
:cool1: :cool1:   :cheer2: :cheer2:
Finished work tonight and am now on vacation. Cherie still has to work Tue and Thur. Piled everything in the dining room with the suitcases. Don't know how it all going to fit. :confused3 Hope that everyone starting their journies have a safe one and meet you at Scoops. Weather here has really warmed up this week. At least I think it has. Have been getting home around 10pm this week and still warm. So maybe the weather Gods will be with us. Talk to everyone soon.
Roger

Well I got into the web site and registered, but at the my cruise, you can reserve everything but the Palo's. All the other stuff has the button to reserve but the Palo's does not. :sad2:
HELP We want to go to Friday morning brunch...
I guess we might have to wait til we board to reserve.
We are starting to pack.
What about everybody else? :flower:
5 more days!!! :wave2:
:rockband: :drinking1 :drinking1 :boat: :music: :dancer: :drinking1

HI everyone,
Here's a little :wizard: for those who are traveling in the next couple of days, :cool1: for those starting vacations, and a stiff :drinking1 for those braving the :crowded: at DL prior to the cruise (LOL)! I've been staying up until 11:00 each night trying to pack; I KNOW I'm overpacking, but it's hard to decide what to leave behind and what to keep. I don't want to to take any chances!
mgm61-I read that they're holding back about 1/2 the reservations for Palo, so you should be able to get something. Good luck!

:hourglass 5 days left.... :hourglass

Debbie

P.S. :bday: to all the people who are celebrating in the next few days!

hi - happy birthday everyone. pretty soon we'll be eating ice cream at scoops to celebrate (and/or enjoying the "drink of the day")! Personally, I know where my calories are coming from next week!!! :cool1: Wish us luck, we are leaving Denver at 6 am. sunday - the first flight out. hopefully, if there's a delay we'll have plenty of time to make it up and get there before we sail. So keep your fingers crossed for good weather and no acting out by United flight attendants.
Safe travels to everyone. See you sunday! :wave2:

Cherta I got an email back today that all pre-booking at Palo's is full so that will be the first place we hit when we get on board. We just want to do the brunch so maybe that won't be full. See you all when we get there. :cool1:

Hi all -

Donnette best of luck traveling tomorrow. Have a wonderful couple of days at DL!

Michele how's the packing going? We finally got suitcases down tonight. :cool1: Been trying to clean the house & finish up business stuff in these last 2 days. It's great your hubby has a couple days off to help get ready. We have brunch booked on Monday at Palo. We'll make sure to stay out the way while you "sprint" to the reservations desk :moped: :rotfl2: :rotfl: DH is doing a "wine inventory" tonight so we can figure what we are bring in that regard :earboy2: .

Roger very cool you are already on vacation! :cheer2: The weather certainly has been warmer these past few days, so pack lots of sunscreen!

Patti - :rotfl2: You made me laugh when I saw your post about the "drink of the day"! I'll be right beside you with one in each hand. Do liquid calories really count? :teeth: That's okay I'll just do laps around the deck 4 to burn them off. :rolleyes1

Debbie - Overpacking???I'm bringing the suitcase I call the big red beast! It's Megasize (I'm hoping my Dbro wil let me store it in their suite  ) Thankgoodness we are not flying!

Well need to get back to finishing our door signs, cleaning house & oh yeah ..packing. OOps almost forgot... I found a lime green colored placemat & made a giant mickey head from it. Would anyone else want to do DISboard Mickey Tag while on the ship??? :bounce:

Well we still have to go out and find a dress shirt and tie for DH. That won't be lots of fun. He hates shopping. :smooth: We are still waiting for his dress coat to arrive. I had gotten the pants 2 months ago and he said he liked them and to get the jacket. Well its still not here. I think he is getting worried. I think it was shipped USPS not ups so post office is much slower. :confused3
My grandma ordered some capris for me and I still haven't gotten them yet. I ordered a swim suit from the same company and got it today.
If everybody gets to the port early we might just talk then and not go to scoops. DH wants to explore the ship and he isn't wanting to wait for me. He is like that. Everytime we go to the fair or even at Magic Mountain, he gets lost. I was mad at MM. He was supposed to wait for us til we came off the ride. He thought we had already gotten off so he went looking for us. We wasted over an hour looking for him and hanging around the last ride we saw him at. Big pain in the you know what. I told him it's a ship. I'll find you. We are taking walkie talkies like that will help. not.
I'll be looking for your big red suitcase. Wait, we drop that off and then wait and wait to board right? :rotfl:
I am tired. Having to help my brother clean up his yard, since he watching our dogs. If I knew it was that bad I would have went by earlier to clean. He will be pulling stickers out of the dogs hair. Long hair dauchound and a terrier. The real spoiled ones of the family.
See ya soon.
Michele :hyper2:

Seems like yesterday I was packing.....I'm so jealous of you all! Have a wonderful time.
I just got back from the 7/2-9 cruise and wanted to throw out a few things I was so glad to know ahead of time (learned from these boards of course)
*I requested extra hangers, a room fan and extra pillows as soon as I met our cabin steward
*I brought 2 pillow cases, 2 photo mats (8x10) 3 fabric pens and placed them in a large ziplock bag with my kids names and our cabin #. I dropped it off day one at guest services and they delivered it to our room on our last night, completely filled with charactor signatures. They were the absolute best and my kids love their pillow cases
*we ordered a plate of cookies and 4 mickey ice cream bars from room service almost every night and was a very fun bedtime ritual for our entire group of 11.
*we bought the $3 refillable mugs the first day and used them like crazy all week.
*I brought an envelope of $1.00 bills for tipping and used them all up.
*I brought a baggie of quarters to use in the laundry machines, the change machine was always out of money. $1 to wash $1 to dry (usually needed a double to completely dry)
*I brought a power strip and used it all week to recharge cameras, game boys, leapsters and batteries.
*I brought an over the door clear plastic shoe hanger, very large floor to ceiling, and used it as a catch all of small stuff and for my daughters shoes, hair pretties, toys, swim suits/goggles etc.
*Utilize the kids clubs, you will love it, your kids will love it and they get some really great craft souveniers, hat & grad MM ears at the end of the week and great friends. My daughter (6) was very nervous at first and didn't want to go back, but we eased her into it and by the middle of the cruise she was begging us to take her all the time.
Hope these help you have a magical trip.
I will be on the Magic Saturday working at the Make A Wish event...so thats as close as I'll come to sailing again!!

Jill

We have a Make a Wish child going. What is the event on Sat? We know of at least 3 families on the July 17 cruise that are MAW kids. So whats going on Sat?
Can you buy the DCL pillowcases from aboard the ship or you just brought others with you?
Thanks for the info and we will have tons of fun cruising the Disney.
Michele

Michele---The make a wish event the night before is a fundraiser for the L.A. chapter ( I THINK) of Make A Wish. It's a "special fundraising event to celebrate the Foundation's 25th Anniversary and Disneyland's 50th Anniversary." My mom called about tickets and they were $1,000 dollars a piece!! YIKES! We wanted to go but since it's a formal event and it would cost a ton of money to go we decided we'd help make a wish in other ways, like volunteering. ;) Just wanted to answer your question you posted.
