July 17th 2005 Magic?

Roger, yes they did come by UPS and I didn't have to sign for them. The Disneyland package came FedEX and and to be signed for.

Start packing? :rotfl2: I've been packed for about a month....all the must have and just add things as I think of them

Hi,

I thought I'd join in before it's too late! I'm Teresa and we are the family traveling with the 3J's. My husband is Doug (we are in our early 40's) and our kids our Brian (turning 15 on July 9), Allen (12), and Hannah (9). We are very excited as this is our first cruise. Thanks to Joy for inviting us along (a year ago!) -- I didn't even know Disney was cruising out of L.A.

We are staying in adjoining rooms 2138 and 2140 -- I think we'll be neighbors with some of you. :flower:

I have a question about wrinkled clothes - are there irons in the state rooms? Should I bring one? What do most people do about this?

Thanks - and looking forward to meeting everyone!!! :cool1:

Hello and Welcome Northerncalgal/Teresa and family - My family is cruising for the first time also. We are traveling w/ my Brother and his family of 5, they have cruised w/ DCL before. Got a lot of tips from them but also from reading these boards.

Regarding ironing, the only thing I've seen posted about the subject is that someone reccommended sending everything out to be pressed the first night of cruise (I guess they offer this service on board). I'm sure there is a charge for this but don't know what it would be. This would be a good question for the general board though.

Do you guys have excursions planned? My family is planning on the Beach Horseback Riding in Cabo but have not seen anyone post about their experience with it yet.

Donnetta - Congrats on getting your Docs :cheer2:

Welcome Teresa,
Will you be celebrating your son's birthday on the cruise? We are having an informal birthday party at our scoops Dis meet (3:00 7/17)

Now about ironing. There are ironing boards located in the laundry rooms. They are always in use right before dinner time, but if you go early you could do your ironing then. They don't reccomend bringing one from home. If you plan on during a little laundry bring your own supplies (detergent/fabric softener) it is expensive on the ship and try to bring change too, because sometimes the machine is out. Again, welcome.

My son is a Make a Wish 18yo and he picked to go on the Disney cruise!!
As a new cruiser I have a few questions.
They say you can bring booze onto the boat yourself but if you buy it on board it has to stay until trip is over?
It will be my son 18 and daughter 16 dad and mom.
We are hoping son does well so we can all have lots of fun.

Hi mgm61 Welcome to the thread! - Take time to read through the thread and get to "know" us. How neat that your son choose a Disney cruise for your family! This will be my family's 1st cruise also. We are all getting very excited only 3 more weeks to go!

I think the rule about alcohol on the cruise is that you can't bring opened containers back to the US. So if you buy something in Mexico you have to consume it on the ship or leave it sealed so you can take it home. Though I'm not sure how much customs allows individuals to bring home.

hi bethany,
yes we are looking forward to this after a hard year.
I hope the kids since they are older have a great time.
It will be nice to not have to do much for anyone else! you know like us moms
always do. I have been reading all afternoon! my husband says your back on the pc again?
Gotta know all about the cruise before we go!

MGM61 - Knowledge is power..... pirate: at least that what Momma always said :flower: There sure is a lot of info to be found on these boards and other websites too. My DDs are teens also...13 & 16, from what I understand they have a great program, activities and their own "private" club (The Stack)to hang out in. Of course there are also movies, the internet cafe, the pool and the arcade if the club isn't their cup of tea. My girls are excited about the Pirate Deck party and possibly seeing POTC on the big movie screen again. AND my DD13/Megan is particularly excited about ordering unlimited room service. :rotfl:

Hi everyone,
First off--thanks to all for the well wishes; we really appreciated your concern and "pixie dust". :flower: My husband's surgery turned out well; they didn't need to do as much reconstruction as they previously thought. He is home now and resting (well, as much as he can with four other people in the house :rotfl: ) so now I can concentrate on getting us ready for the cruise. I keep vascillating between :cool1: and  with all the things I need to do before we leave. I can't believe it's only 3 WEEKS AWAY! :earseek:
Welcome to our new posters and a big :cool1: to those who've got their docs!
Gotta run--got a million things to do today. That saying "summertime and the livin' is easy" does not apply here!
Debbie

Since my son is a Make a Wish child we don't have anything on the cruise but a DVD I ordered off line from the Disney site. You all are sure talking about a whole lot of things I had no idea of. I can be an old hat (so to speak) on our first cruise!
Things are so expensive and only my husband works so we have a very tight budget. We haven't been to DL since 1992. I hope this will be a fun cruise for my 18 yo son and 16 yo daughter. They kind of wanted to stay together and since he is 18 he gets to go to adult things and she doesn't. I already called and asked about it.
Do they have the rock wall or basketball, shuffle board, pool would be cool, or what?
That way they could do things together. Unless we can sneek him into the teen club.
Whats POTC? I want to see the Herbie Movie. Will it be playing? :Pinkbounc
Someone needs to tell me everything since this is our first cruise!
I did find a website for the shore excursion Stone Island Tour. Way cheaper than booking off Disney Boat. It's the same thing.
Is there parasailing in Cabo? Does anyone know the price? We are kind of going on a shoe string budget so we have to shop around big time. We did manage to streamline our home loan so we do have some spending money. We have a sponsor for the trip so I think we will get to the goal of the 8500 and get the family suite w/veranda.
We are so looking forward to this trip. Still have to do some clothes shopping.
See all you Mousers later.

.

First off, welcome MGM61. Our little group is really growing now. To answer your questions that I can speak of. No, there is not a rock wall on the ship. They do have basketball and shuffle board though. There are also ping pong tables on deck nine. There is an adult pool, if your 16 looks like she could pass for 18, they could both go to the adult pool. It is a lot more quiet than the family pool. POTC is Pirates of the Carribean. And I am sure Herbie will still be playing when we arrive.

I am so jealous of you having a verandah suite. You will really feel pampered on the cruise. Enjoy it.

On another note, I had some transfer questions for DCL so I called them today and was told that our cruise will include 1 formal night, 1 semi-formal night, and 1 tropical night. So it looks like they will not be cutting out our Pirate night. It does make me wonder though, what dinner menu they will scrap? They have the 3 rotationals plus Golden Mickeys, Captain's Gala(lobster night), Pirate dinner, and the Till we meet again dinner.

Debbie, so glad to hear that your husband is home and doing well. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Well we are hoping for the Venadah Suite. That's our tote board total!! :cool1:
Thanks for the other info since we don't have anything about the cruise yet. I don't think we will get it til 1 wk before. :earsgirl:

Congrats Bethany!!! But I know you can do more dancing than that!!!!

Figured I wasn't entitled to an official dance until they were in my hands. :rotfl: I'll check back later tonight~ :teeth:

I don't know if this has been posted or if you guys know that you can bring t-shirts and pillowcases to be signed by the characters. Last year I had a special birthday shirt made up for my daughter and had it signed as a suprise for her birthday. You have to give the shirt/pillowcase to to guest services(I put mine in a ziploc with permanent markers and our name and stateroom written on the outside). They will have the characters sign the item and return it to you on the last night of the cruise. It is a really neat thing and best of all, it is FREE!

That is a great idea!
I was thinking of that for a gift to my daughter and new son n lw, because they didn't
get to go with us.
