Oh my Gosh! I have been sitting here for an hour trying to think of a great name for this journal. As you can see, didn't happen.
: :teeth:
Although I like to think I'm jolly, but not everyone seems to always get my sense of humor. LOL Oh well!:

This journal is sure to be a lot of ramblings, so read at your own risk. I like the idea of writing it down, gives some accountability ( is that a word?) to the whole process.

Ok, this is it. I really want to do it this time. Get the weight down. I'm aiming for 150- though it has been many many years since I have seen that weight. Started Mar 1, was very shocked to see my weight had gone to 250. I had noticed the elastic waistband seemed tight- but I had not weighted myself. - 220 used to be my max , then I would diet down to about 175 and then slowly creep up. We (my family) have gotten into such bad habits. But that is all changing.

DH is the main cook, as I can't- but this time, he is also dieting. he had a scare with some pains- turned out to be pulled muscle, but dr. said loss weight or next might be real. So we have gotten rid of junk food and started more healthy eating. We are following points on Weight watchers, although not offically with the program, and I usually make one meal Slim Fast- usually breakfast because there is never enough time in the morning. So I'm going to post about 1 time a week, prob Sundays maybe more if needed, and today's journal will be after this one.

03-28-04

Today I have started this journal and made several committments I am going to document:

1. As of this morning- I weighed 238 and that will be my starting point.

2. I am totally addicted to weighting myself, so plan is weight 1 time a week, Sunday mornings. This sounds silly, but is going to be something I watch myself on. Getting on the scale 4 times a day is not going to make me lose weight faster. Duh!

3. Exercising 5 times a week. I have been slacking on the treadmill and I think today I figured out why, I like to walk, just not on the treadmill! I have worked my way up from 10 minutes to 20- and need to move to 25 soon, but I walked 40 minutes today outside with DS and it was great. I love striding! I must make a effort to get home from work to walk outside before it gets dark.
I may not have been going as fast as I do on the treadmill, (DS is only 7) but it felt great and I was not watching the clock, instead I was suprised, as we started out with the intent of only doing 20 minutes. It was such a beautiful day we just kept walking.

4. Keep up the water! When did I get so addicted to diet cokes? I am not going to give them up, but I can already tell I feel better with lots of water. I used to drink water all the time, when did I stop?

Mini goals- get below 200 by my birthday- end of June. That will exceed 2 pounds a week, but adding the exercise may do the trick.

Ok, all that should keep me busy for awhile. To borrow a saying I have seen around here alot

Onward and downward!!

Hi Julie! Welcome to Journalling!!! I'm scale obsessed too! It's ok though we can get through this together!! :) My official "weigh in" day is Saturdays. You're goals seem very attainable! Best of luck and I look forward to seeing your loss!

Hi Desiree-
Thanks for the welcome-
I almost stepped on the scale several times today getting ready for work! LOL I guess its just a habit! I would put the silly thing away except DH & DD are using it too!
Hey, do you think they would make a clippe for us?
1 day scale free, 2 days scale free??:teeth:

Have a great one,

LOL That would be a great idea!

I've at least narrowed myself down to only weighing once a day and that's first thing in the morning (with no clothes on and after I've used the bathroom!!!) :teeth:

Hi Julie!

Welcome to WISH and to journaling! I think you've got a great title for your journal. You'll get all the support and encouragement you can stand around here. These buddies of mine are great! ::yes::

Parts of your story sounded very familiar to me. I started my program (unofficial WW member) on March 1st at a whopping 237 pounds. I've been counting points and exercising since, and I'm now down to 219. My point? Your goal is VERY attainable. Those of us with lots to lose can sometimes post big numbers in the beginning. It sure gives you a nice boost and the courage/motivation to keep going.

I was addicted to Dr. Pepper and Coke for the longest time, and now I can't stand the taste of the stuff. It's way too sweet. Water seems to be the extra magic for a lot of us. It keeps everything moving through, and you just plain feel better when you're drinking like a fish. :p

I wish you much success on your jolly journey! I look forward to celebrating with you!

~Angela :wave2:

Hey Julie,

Glad to see you've joined us! As I've said many times before, it is a daily struggle that you can win! Make your goal to be cheat free for the rest of the day and tommorrow, start over. This must be done one day at a time!

We are all behind you! Read some of the journals and they will inspire you!

Later,

Dax

Thanks Desiree, Angela & Dax for all the encouraging words- this is a great place!

I had a great day! Stayed on my points (actually I am way under and I'm thinking I better bump them up a bit, or I might be stuck down here, uck!).

I had to leave work early to pick up my DD, and it was another nice day, so was going on another walk, and this time the whole family came with me! Woo Hoo! DH, DD, DS, and me. Nice to do something healthy as a family. DD is teen and sooo overweight, she wants to lose but just not ready to make the full committment. So I was so happy to have her join us today and I feel great!

Just hoping some of this energy lasts thru tomorrow, coz work is gonna be a killer. End of the month is stress but I REFUSE to reach for chocolate. And anyone who offers me any is in BIG TROUBLE. :p

Actually most everyone knows I'm on a diet, so they have been supportive. Hope everyone has a great tomorrow!

Hi Julie!
Welcome to the wonderful world of WISH journaling! (Try and say that 10 times fast.;) ) We are so glad that you joined us!

I like the way that you have broken down your goal of weight loss into smaller goals. For me, weight loss was a daunting task until I started taking baby steps towards my goal. I think that you will have great success with the goals you have chosen.::yes::

I W.I.S.H. you success on your journey! Know that we are all here for you!::yes:: Welcome Julie!:Pinkbounc

hi julie, i'd also like to welcome you to wish journaling! this place is just full of wonderful people and great support and inspiration, i hope that it helps you as much as it has helped me :bounce:

i really enjoyed reading about your whole family's walk. that's great that you dd came with all of you, that could be a great way for her to enjoy exercise.

good luck on your journey :Pinkbounc

Julie, welcome to the WISH Journal board!! :wave2:

A family walk - now THAT'S a step in the right direction!! :p Get it - walk, step..... OK, I know it's not that funny, but it IS true. Sometimes the best way to teach our kids is just to set a good example. That way they "catch" our good habits and they don't even realize it. ::yes::

Glad you've joined us for this healthy living journey! :sunny:

Hi Julie!

ITA with Doe. Maybe your DD will see your success on this journey and then be inspired to start a new walk for herself. A family walk is definitely a building block (I so wanted to say "step in the right direction" but Doe beat me to it!).

I hope that you were able to handle the work stress effectively today. That's a big challenge for many on this board.

Have a good evening!

~Angela :wave2:

Ok,so much for posting once a week! :teeth:

Got home too late to walk, it had been overcast all day and finally started to rain, so figured I'd just hit the treadmill later.

DD had to go to a meeting, so after a low point dinner, we headed off to Walmart - bought some work out tapes!

By the time we got back, go the kids settled into bedtime routine and other stuff- etc. It was 10:30pm. So ... figured I'll just do some reward programs and call today an off day (shooting for 5 days of exercise and did Sun and Mon).
Decided to check in here, read the encoraging posts- and decided to get in gear!!!

Went downstairs and fired up the treadmill, turned on FIT TV (we just got digital cable, who knew- exercise 24/7? ) with the sound off and walked 20 minutes. Just looking at those people with their flat stomachs was extra motivation. :p I want that too!

So thanks all for urging me on- it was the push I needed.
And 2 days scale free! I'm gonna hold out until Sunday, yes I am!!

Keep up the good work! Thanks for posting on my journal, I am glad that reading mine helped get you into our little neck of the woods. You know, it gets really addictive....

I must admit that I had a lapse this evening, my dd and ds went to see the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus and yes, I'll admit it, I ate popcorn! It wasn't even any good, but I ate it!!

Back on Atkins tommorrow!

Bye till later!

Dax

Oh I am sooo sick. I thought it was sinus but I ache all over - and not the good excercise achy feeling either. The ucky fevery achy. AnD I have to go in tomorrow coz I have Mon & tues off. It was a struggle to get thru work today, tomorrow should be a breeze. But stayed on diet, in fact I am not very hungry, but made myself eat dinner to I wouldn't be really low on points.

The beautiful weather is gone for now, though I hear it may be back this weekend, I am itching to take another long walk, I really felt so good and energized after the other two. Crossing fingers for warm weather!

I had to remove the scale free motto- I couldn't stand it, I was feeling all ucky on Wed and I just knew I was all bloated. But.... I lost 2 pounds!:sunny: Yippee! 3 more to go until my 5 pound clippee.
That makes 14 for my first month, not the 20 I was hoping for, but adding the exercise is going get further next month!

Thanks all for stopping by,

Tracy- I think the small goals are going to be the key this time- before it was just -lose X weight here I go. I have entered a challenge to keep me focused.

Marsh 0013- Thanks for the encouragment- I can see DD making some better choices already- she is not fully committed yet, but small changes can add up tobecome big changes!

Doe WDW & Angela Thanks for stopping by and you two can bring those "witty" remarks in here anytime, I am a firm believe in laughter is the best medicine! And thanks for the encouragement.

Dax- We are all going to"slip" now and then. I think the real test is to hit the brakes before you go into a full tailspin! Sounds like you got right back into plan, and that is the true test of a winner! (or maybe a loser in this case!:p

I'm off for aspirin and bed.

Oh gosh, I hope you get to feeling better! Be sure to get plenty of rest and drink your fluids!!!

I'm still not doing good with the scale free thing either. I peeked at it yesterday too! I finally busted through that 184 barrier! Hopefully tomorrow when I peek at the scale for my official weigh in, it will be enough for my new clippie!

I bet you'll be getting your clippie next week!! Introducing that exercise in will make all the difference in the world!

hey julie, just wanted to send you some :sunny: and :wizard: to help you feel better! it's no fun being sick!

congrats on your 2 pound loss, you'll have that 5 pound clippie before you know it :bounce:

hope you feel better! :sunny:

Thanks everyone! I'm feeling a little better today, although still kind of weak and coughing up a storm!

Today was good weather again , so I dragged myself out of the house and went for a walk. I took DS with me, so if I fainted he could get help. (just kidding, I'm not that sick:p )

I took it a little slow, but still got in about 35 minutes, I felt a little weak after but not too bad. I didn't meet my goal of 5 days exercise, but I did get in 4 and sick has to count for something!

My points were a little low the last 2 days, but nothing drastic, so maybe that made up for no exercise.

Getting ready for my big weigh in tomorrow- I have signed up for the Mother's Day challege, for 12 lbs-I'll need to keep the exercise up I'm sure to average 3 lb a week loss. I bought a couple workout tapes, but I just don't have the strength to start, hopefully tomorrow.

The kids are on spring break this week, and I took off Monday and Tues. I'm hoping to get started on the tapes plus walk.

I'll try to check in on other's journals soon.

Ohhh something feels different around here today. Hmm - I guess it must be my new Clippee! Yeah me!:teeth:

I was so suprised to see I lost 6 pounds this week! I guess the combination of water & exercise is really paying off.

Now I know I won't be pulling in these numbers everyweek, and I had only had a 1 pound loss the week before , but I am so excited. :bounce:

This makes 18 pounds since March 01- I tried on the next lower size pair of jeans I just happen to have (don't we all??) and I can button them, breathing might be a bit of a problem, but in a week or two, who knows?

If I can just get to feeling 100% again, still got this bad cough, I can get started on some additional exercise.

I want to stay excited- My goal of Onederland by end of June(my b-day) is looking better and better!

Have a great day!

:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: Doing the new clippie dance with you!!!

Congrats! Did I read your post right? 18 pounds since March 1st?!?!??!

WOW. That's tremendous!!! You are doing something right!!!!

Keep up the good work! You'll be in ONEderland before you know it!!!!
