Julie's continual struggle (WW thread - comments VERY welcome!!)

What a beautiful new clippie! It looks great on you!

Tell that mean voice to go sit on a tack! You're doing great and it's really paying off!

Good thinking about the WATP CD for the train. I hope that works out for yoU!

What a busy morning this has been!

Last night fencing went forever. On the way - about 3:30 DD and I had subway (4) and starbucks(5). By the time we got home I was hungry, HOT and tired. Used 4 points over my daily - 1 if you factor in my exercise points. Had 10 tortilla chips, 1/2 serving cheese and mango salsa. Then I had a biscotti. Not bad, but not what I should have done. Got in way more water yesterday than my 64 oz min.

On the way home stopped at Costco and got my WATP CD's and made a copy so I don't have to take the originals in case something happens to them. Got the guys some microwave food for while we're gone.

This morning got up early to go to Sams. Trying to buy some good looking steaks for Sunday, but theirs looked awful and were almost $9/lb. Finally found some at the produce/health food market. Hit 3 stores + walmart & dropped of DS19 rx for his wisdom teeth extraction tues. Home to take care of stuff then back w/ DD to Dr. About 2 mo ago when we got snowed in in Colorado she spent 2 days on the indoor water slide at the hotel. Came home with her hip bones and tummy looking like we'd beat her severely. About a month ago she developed lots of tiny 'floaters' under the skin that she can slide all around - pretty gross. Was finally able to have them checked out Calcium deposits from the bruise. YEAH!! She was convinced they were bone chips that would move and lodge somewhere they shouldn't.

then went to DQ to order 2 cakes for the boys bdays and the dollar store for candles.

Breakfast was Decaf & a scone (6). Lunch a roll up (3) and cookie dough - OOPS!! - 4.

Just finished 4 mile WATP and off to pick up RX, buy soda, buy crickets for the lizards, pick up my new glasses. then home to get dinner, organize for packing and proof some school.

Tomorrow will be busy w/ a fencing tournament - maybe from about 10 - 7 p.m. UGH!!

But, the good news is according to DD's countdown, we're now UNDER 8 days!!!!

TTNW(this time next week) - DD and I will have spent 3 - 4 WONDERFUL hours at the spa having facials, pedicures and sitting in the sea water hot tub, sauna & steam room. Then off to pick up cake & presents for DS18 . He wants pizza for dinner - his exact words were - "order 10 large papa johns pizzas, 5 pepperoni, 5 cheese, and I"ll take the leftovers home".. I will NOT order that many. I'll finish up last minute laundry, make phone calls confirming the FL reservations. Hopefully I will be able to work in some exercise. Then off to bed and ready for the TRAIN!!!

I'm thinking of doing a small scavenger hunt for DS bday. He's getting only money & gift cards as he's broke and his roommates ripped him off. Thinking of hiding clues to each gift to make it a bit more interesting. Whatcha think???

Hey Jules!!!!!!!!   the new clippie!!! Looks pretty awesome on you! Enjoy the spa time... I need some!~ Tell Bekah that I will be leaving on Tuesday for ALIVE! Please ask her if she'd like a hug from any band in particular. I can try, but don't expect anything fancy. 8 days until happiness...enjoy!!

Tell DS happy birthday! Hugs, positive thoughts, birthday wishes and low-POINT cookie dough wishes are floating your way!

I'm back and looks like you are ready to leave. :flower:

Sounds like you have had some stressful and busy moments while I was gone (what's new, huh?). But the stress isn't keeping you from losing that weight! Congrats on the new clippie! :cool1: I knew you could do it, you just had to keep pushing along. At least which ever dress you decide to wear for the wedding will fit much better than it did a month ago. That should make you feel good.

I am pulling for you that you can get to the 150's before your birthday. It's hard to keep your eating on schedule when you are away from home, but as long as you try to be sensible and don't binge all the time, you should have no problem maintaining.

Glad to hear that your sis is almost finished with her treatments. Hope that the time that you leave for FL goes quickly for you so that you can stop the insanity with your DD's countdown. There is one thing you can do while on the train that might pay off.........it's called "Throw the Momma VOICE from the Train."

Keep up the good work, you deserve the lost pounds. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Welcome Back, Lesli!

Yes, I'm WAY ready to leave (emotionally, not done with anything!)

DD will be fencing only in the 4:00 tourney today - YEAH!!!! I'll be able to get at least something done.

I was up most of the night. DS18 (who lives in apt) drove to Phoenix yesterday. I got a call about 3 from a check cashing place in PHX wanting me to identify him. SCARY!! He works nights and a friend's brother had his first baby so he wanted to be there & flights were booked so he pd DS $300+ expenses to drive him. DS was driving home last night. Didn't make it - had enough sense to sleep in the car. He has never driven on a trip before and had only 2 hours sleep yesterday. I barely dozed all night waiting for him to call. DH of course says he's 18, I need to stop being concerned about him, he's an adult. He seems to believe that parenthood ends at 18. NOT!!!!

Exercise likely won't happen today as DH is home. There is another neighborhood Gsale near here and I might go, but not sure I have the energy.
Other than fencing, today will be clean & pack. (At least the packing part is fun!)

Last night I had Flat out w/ ff cheese quesadilla & mango salsa. Then a dozen chips. Managed to stay w/in points even if my cookie dough breakfast wasn't the best choice!

TTNW: DD and I will be anxiously awaiting the time to get on the train. I'll get up early and do the last possible laundry & DS15 work/gym clothes. He got another raise & a promotion to team leader at Chick Fil A. He's gotten $1/hour raise since they opened in Nov. Not bad for 15. We get on the train about 12:30, will have lunch. I'll want to nap, but will stay awake until we go through Raton Pass - then it's off to slumber land. I'm sure DD will want to sit in the observation car when we get to the CO plains so she can watch the deer & antelope. Then it will be dinner/movie & bed. We'll get out and walk for about 10 min at Trinidad when there is a longer stop.

Sounds like a good "relaxing" day for you. ;)

I understand what you mean about kids thinking that you need to let go when they reach "adulthood". DD17 is one month away from 18 and with having graduated already, she is becoming scarce around here and can't understand why I get a little perturbed now and then that she doesn't take much time to help out (unless she really wants something). She's a good kid, but she just can't stop reminding us that she will be gone and somehow she usually comes across as we know absolutely nothing about the real world. I am now at the point of "go find out for yourself", then come back and we'll see who knows what. Children, you gotta love them, but there are definitely reasons why you want them to leave home. One day, they will understand that the concern never ends. Ask my grandma, she'll be 78 and still worries about everyone.

Have fun packing! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I am so jealous of your train trip! It sounds like such a fascinating way to travel. I bet the scenery is really neat!

Glad to hear you're not stuck at the tournament all day! Sounds like you had a very long night last night. I can't imagine that there's some kind of switch that just turns off when they turn 18--of course you're going to worry! Thank goodness everything turned out OK.

Have a wonderful day!!!

today is interesting. Called DS at about 6:30 a.m. He had gotten tired and slept along the road. Smart not to drive. At 11:30 our time - 6 hours later. He still was not in ABQ - a 7 hour drive total. Worry kicks in. DH goes ballistic because I'm concerned. DS calls at 12:30 our time. Had a blow out this morning just after I talked to him. WALKED 25 miles into Show Low AZ and was calling collect from a pay phone as he has no cell service. He had no tire wrench. He & friend bought a wrench and were going to walk back to car or try to hitch a ride, put on the little spare and drive back in to Show Low to try to get a new tire on. UGH!!!! It's about 105 there at present. Fun Fun Fun! And, he may end up missing work tonight at 10. NOT a smart move.

So, I'm REALLY needing that train ride now! Calgon take me away!!!! Or should I say AMTRAK take me away!

Breakfast Kashi (4), lunch a roll up (4) and cookie dough while stressing on 2 phones at once(3)

What a DAY!!!

The DS saga continued, actually until this morning.

Turns out the Blow Out occurred at about 80 mph on a 2 lane road on the side of a mountain with NO guardrails. His car spun 3 times. Can you say Thank you Lord!!! It's a wonder they didn't go off the edge. I think his guardian angel deserves combat pay. The only tire place in Show Low wouldn't take his check or call me for a credit card. They scraped together enough for 1 tire but think that 2 more were damaged in the spinning. Wonderful. Made it 47 miles to Holbrook to try to find somewhere to take a check for gas - no luck. DH had to wire him money. They had by this time been up over 2 days, so go a cheap motel room and slept until about 1 a.m., showered and got back to ABQ about 6 this morning. Thru most of this he had no cell service and I've been a nervous wreck.

Fencing was LONG - late starting actually - but went well. DD got 3rd and this was all adults. I drank only water and vegged on a couch thru most of it. Both of us were really hungry and she wanted McD's. I almost gave in, but didn't. I came home and had chips w/ cheese and salsa. Not a great choice, and I went 3 pts over yesterday, but could have been MUCH worse. I wanted to stress eat all day long.

I got basically nothing done yesterday, so today I really have to fly. I just can't concentrate well under stress like that.

According to DD 6 days 5 hours 7 min until we leave. At this point it seems like an eternity.

Sometime yesterday morning - which seems like an eternity ago, I walked for 30 minutes going to some neighborhood Garage Sales. Better than nothing!! And fun!

More later....

Oh Jules. Hugs, positive thoughts and dancing bananas headed your way! His guardian angel deserves not only combat pay, but a promotion! So glad your son is safe.

I don't know if Stressful really covers it. The types of situations your DS went through are the kind that I am not looking forward to as my DD17 moves out.

You did well on stopping the stress eating in its tracks. That right there should tell you how much progress you are making. Good job!

Hope today is a better one for you. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Breakfast was Kashi & yogurt (4). Dinner will be grilled chicken breast(4), peppers/onions/mushrooms (1) baked potato w/ ff scream (3) and berries w/ ff cool whip(1). Not sure what else or what lunch will be.

TTNW: DD and I will hopefully wake up on the train early enough to get out and walk some in Kansas City - about 8 a.m. Then breakfast. I'll have to eat light, so will likely have fruit and oatmeal as I don't like their cereal choices (raisin bran crunch, frosted flakes, rice krispies). I might be able to do egg beaters & toast, but not sure what will be available. After breakfast we will shower and go watch the midwestern countryside. We definitely have to be in the observation car when we cross the Mississippi. After lunch of hopefully salad w/ chicken, we will begin gathering our stuff. We will arrive in Chicago about 3:20 and have almost 2 hours before we get on the next train. We'll check our stuff in the first class lounge, grab a couple of drinks, and go walk around near the station outside. On the return we'll have about 6 - 7 hours in Chicago so we can venture further. At about 5:30 we'll board the Capitol Ltd which we've never ridden before. I think we'll opt for about a 6:30 dinner time so we can enjoy some scenery and still get done before the 8:00 movie they will show in the observation car. We will likely go to bed fairly early as we need to get showered and ready before breakfast Monday morning. I will likely have finished my first book and be starting my second before bed. I'm taking the "sisterchicks" series by Robin Gunn to read and DD is taking the "Sleeper" series by Gilbert Morris.

Monday at last! Just a few more days.

The weekend ended on a much calmer note her. Praise the Lord!

Food was as planned yesterday, but I really feel like I'm holding water this morning. Haven't stepped on the scale. Oh well......

The 'to do' list today is long, but tomorrow & Wednesday I'll be trapped at home after DS18 has the wisdom teeth out, so must get done.

I didn't get any exercise in yesterday, but will do the 4 mile today. DS15 is basically packed. DD and I have just a few more things to organize. DH refused to start. Didn't surprise me.

Breakfast will be Kashi & yogurt. Not sure about lunch or dinner. DD & DH will be at fencing and DS15 will be at work, so I'll be on my own. Dinner might be a nap! Sounds Luscious!

TTNW: We will get up early on the train, shower and have a fairly late breakfast. I'll eat a big breakfast as we will be in Washington DC from about noon until after 7 p.m. Neither of us have ever been to DC, so we are going to try to go to the Smithsonian.(I've been told it's an easy walk to the mall area from the station). If all else fails, we'll take a bus tour. If we can't manage either, Union Station is a shopping mall! We'll check our carryons at the Lounge and go. Our plan is to skip lunch and just have a small snack. When we get on the next train, they will serve a late dinner, but we'll check on that as we don't want to not eat at the station and not get fed on the train until breakfast. This will be a day we are both looking forward to, and we'll do a lot of walking!! :cool1: Back on the train for dinner, a small bit of scenery and bed. This is a viewliner and we've never been on one before. It will be interesting as there is a toilet in each room. Convenient, but odd. I will try to get us to bed early as tomorrow we arrive in FL and there won't be much sleep happening for more than a week! Almost there!

Thank goodness your DS made it home safe! Enjoying your new gray hairs?

Your train trip sounds so cool! There's plenty to do around Union Station in DC--there's the mall and the capital, and all of the trolley tours pick up and drop off there. No shortage of things to do!!!

Hope you have a great Monday!

WOW, that was a bunch of reading!!!

I'M BACK! AND you're leaving :( ;) seriously though so happy you're getting to go on your trip so soon!!!! Not much longer now....

SOUNDS like your last week or so has been stressful...hang in there!

Jen :teeth:

The train trip sounds great. What wonderful memories you will make, and that is before you even get to Florida! We love D.C. and the Smithsonian. My favourite is in the American history museum with the First Ladies gowns!

Well, today was unexpected, busy and oh, I almost forgot, Stressful.......

DS18 is driving me NUTS!!!

Tried to call him very early this morning to give him info about his oral surgery at 8 am tomorrow - when he gets off work at 6 and no answer. So, when DS15 left for gym/work, I drove to DS18 apt. Arrived just in time to see 3 people leave in his car - none of them him. He has use of it, but since moving out in Jan has been unable to make his payment or insurance payment and it is in my name. Needless to say I was LIVID!!!

Pounded on his door til I woke him - and probably a few neighbors, read him the riot act and left. Got home so stressed I got nothing done, but at least I didn't eat. Was going to run the remaining errands, but got a call from DS18 that yes, his 2 left tires were shot. So, off to Sams to meet him to buy tires - that makes $250 he's drained us of this week, on top of $450 for his car pmt, insurance and tv payment so far this month. By the time we got even signed in to get tires, it was time to drop him at his apt, take DD to DH for fencing, go get him, take him back to Sams to pick up car, returned the Dvd's that were due today and just walked in at 7 p.m.

My back is killing me from stress/tension, and I'm exhausted. Took DD and DS18 thru McD's, got DH Wendys and I came home to have 1/2 a huge baked potato with mushrooms, onions, cheese and FF sour cream (5). Lunch was 2 sandwiches of lt bread w/ turkey, baked lays & 2 ww candy (8). I haven't gotten my water in , but had 32 oz of lt lemonade, so at least it's liquid. I'll get at least that in water yet tonight.

Needless to say, no exercise again today. Not sure that it will happen tomorrow either.

Hopefully I can catch up on a bunch of journals tomorrow. I've got a bunch of stuff yet to do before we leave on Saturday. I'm almost laughing that DS18 is so terrified of needles and has to have an IV tomorrow (should I say serves him right and maybe ask for a LONG needle :goodvibes )

I'm hoping he sleeps most of tomorrow and that the pain killers knock him out.

I'll catch up w/ y'all later.

As my MIL used to tell me - "the shortest distance between a problem & a solution is the distance between your knees & the floor" - and my knees are gettin' awfully sore lately!!

Getting closer to leaving......YEAH!!!

This morning DS18 gets his wisdom teeth out. He only has 2, so I'm hoping it isn't too bad as he's a real BABY when it comes to pain and needles.

Somehow I MUST exercise today!!

I've got a lot of 'in house' stuff to get done, but not much else. I planned that today & tomorrow I likely won't leave home. DH18s pain killer is what I had problems with several years ago, so I'm not really wanting to leave him alone while he's on it.

Tomorrow afternoon if all is going OK I'm planning on taking DD to see the new Herbie movie. We bought a couple of the DVDs for the trip and there were free tickets in them. (and I drive a bug)

I'm sure the rest of this week will FLY by - or at least I'm hoping it does - and that everything gets done.

No clue about food today. I'm thinking breakfast will again be Kashi & yogurt. I know I'll make at least 1 trip to McDs today as DS18 will want a mcflurry and since he can only have soft stuff, I"ll indulge him. I won't eat there, tho.

Dinner I have some frozen stuffed fish that might be soft enough for him to eat some of, but we'll see. There are still steaks & chicken from Sunday which is a more likely choice, in which case, I'll have a baked potato w/ stuff again.

Have a great day guys! I'll catch you later!

Whew! What a day! I hope you get a few minutes to relax and recharge soon.

Good luck to DS. I don't think anyone would fault you for asking for the extra LONG needle! :teeth:

Take care of yourself!

Have a great time in Washington DC. We took the boys there about 6 years ago & I've always wanted to go back again. The nice thing about DC is that almost everything is free. Another good thing is all the exercise you get walking everywhere. We must've walked miles. It was actually more walking than Disney. Have fun! :)
