Judy Blume...my daughter loves you!

My DD, 10 will occasionally write a letter to an author of books she likes to read. I never get to see the letters, because she seals them in an envelope before I know that she was writing one.

Judy Blume sends out a pre-printed 4 page document to those who write to her. It included a 1-page letter, 2 pages of questions that were frequently asked of her, and a page of the books she has written.

At the end of the letter, she apologized for the "impersonal response...her writing commitments keep too busy to respond to all those that write to her"

My DD was so thrilled to receive this response - out of about 10 letters she has sent out - this was the first response she has received!

Judy Blume is AWESOME!!! I read all of her books when I was younger and remember thinking (and still do) how did she get inside my head? She writes exactly what young girls are thinking and feeling.

I LOVE Judy Blume. I read everything by her as a child. I have passed that love onto my daughter.

I sent Judy Blume an email a few years ago. She emailed me back! I was just stunned. I still have it. Very cool of her

I too grew up reading Judy Blume! Now my DD 10 is also reading her.

GlennandAnn - I know exactly what you mean. I also always wondered how she got in my head.

A few years ago when I read one of her adult books (can't remember the title- maybe Sisters) it brought back such wonderful memories of reading her books as a young girl.
