JPEG and RAW, why keep both?

I posed a question about shooting formats a few weeks ago,and understand I will have more post production options with RAW than JPEG. So I am curious as to why many seem to shoot in both formats. Regardless of the format, however, if you shoot in both, once the pictures have been post-processed, why would it be necessary to keep the JPEG shots since they have limited processing options and take up computuer space? Just curious :confused3

I do both so that I have a file to give to my wife instantly for her to share with friends and family. I delete those original JPGs after processing the RAW files.

For a while, I was shooting RAW + JPEG and tossing the RAWs for pictures that were "good enough" and only keeping the RAWs for picures I felt were "special."

If I was keeping the RAW, I discarded the camera-generated JPEG (or overwrote it with my RAW-processed version).

My JPEGs get used for sharing/uploading and for my display devices (PC slideshows, digital picture frames, phone/media players, etc), and I keep the "best of RAW" files as an archive if I ever want to go back an tinker with something I've taken in the past to see if I can improve it further.

However, as I've gotten better at RAW processing, I've switched to RAW-only as I'm now far more confident that the results of my RAW-processing will be as good or, more likely, better than the camera's default choices.

I keep both, as my JPEGs are my review file. I don't process every RAW image. I just don't have the time. From time to time I will go back through the JPEGs and find images that after a 3rd or 4th look, I find something I didn't see earlier and it jumps off the page. Since computer memory is relatively cheap, again, it is my quick review file.

I don't shoot both, just RAW, but I do keep all the jpegs that I process and all of the RAW files. I'm a pack rat and keep everything.

I shoot and ARCHIVE RAW only.

It only takes seconds to produce the same Jpeg(or other needed format).
Settings in most software are saved, produce a jpeg to send to lab... Then Delete jpeg, if needed again software will produce the SAME EXACT jpeg so I see no need to clutter up hard drives.
