Just had to share with people I knew would understand! DD (3 years 8 months) is running up and down our hall jumping and screaming "Yay" over and over. Why? Because we just measured her in her bare flat feet and she is exactly 40 inches. In her regular shoes she will be wearing to WDW, she is over 41 inches. She is so happy!!! She's a little daredevil. I never thought she would make it by our next trip- she has been 38 inches since her birthday, and just 2 1/2 weeks ago was only 38 1/2 inches. I'm not sure when she sprouted up like a beanstalk. So... anyone have any opinions on what I should not let her ride that she is now tall enough for. I'm thinking I will definitely let her ride Soarin and Test Track (I know she's gonna love that one), but probably not Dinosaur.

:goodvibes My daughter had the same reaction last spring so we definitely get it!!!:thumbsup2

In May our daughter loved Big Thunder Moountain, Splash Mountain, Soarin' and Test Track (we did TT first thing in the AM got off and went right back on she liked it so much!!)

We did not attempt Dinosaur with her because we didn't do AK last trip but I also think it might be too scary for her...

Congratulations - but be aware - 40" at home isn't always 40" at WDW...

When is your trip? Hope she makes 40 inches in WDW! I would definitely skip Dinosaur. Seems that one scares adults often and would be too much for a young child.

Oh, puhleaaase let my DD4 shoot up one more inch in only 5 weeks!!!

She's always been in the 25 percentile! I hate our family's short genes!!

:headache::headache::headache:

But we'll be down again all too soon. So you guys have a super fabulous time!!! She'll have sooooo much fun! :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

I say let her try them all, DS was barely 3 the 1st time we went down and he was just barely 40 inches. He rode everything he could, although he did opt not to ride dinosaur a second time. We almost bought the pic. of my mom with us on TOT because she looked pretty green, and all you could see of DS was his hands.

We always give our boys the option to ride anything, we explain that everything is for fun and that nothing will hurt them. We also tell them what to expect on the ride, is it in the dark, will it be loud, is it fast or slow, that type of stuff. We also always let them know that they can opt out at any time up to the point we get on the ride, I think that having that control makes them more willing to try new things.

I agree with the rides this poster listed! How exciting. Your family is going to have a fantastic time! Congratulations on the growth spurt!!

Thanks everybody! :) She's been a happy kid all day!

EEK- I figured at over 41 inches in regular shoes she'd be okay for sure. How far off are some of the WDW measurement sticks? We're not going until December, so we still have some time, but I'm guessing after this spurt she'll stay where she is for quite awhile like she did last time.

I forgot about Big Thunder- she'll love that one too! Keep your fingers crossed bellybaby- it could happen! DD shot up an inch and a half in 2 1/2 weeks. Before that she only grew 1/2 an inch over an 8 month period. I defiitely have the short genes too. I love your picture of your Princess room-- DD would go nuts over that!

I'm tempted to let her try what she wants RF536, but I'm just not sure about Dinosaur and TOT. But.. She was opening the door for trick or treaters and for every scary dressed one that showed up, she looked right at them and said "Nothing scares me". Maybe letting her on Dinosaur and TOT would serve her right.

Had to go measure my youngest. 40 1/4 inches :woohoo: Our next trip is not till April.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that he hits the 42" height so that he can finally ride the coasters at Hersheypark next year.

She might suprise you and have no problem with them. If she is not a child who is scared easily, I would let her try everything she is tall enough for. The worst that could happen is that she would chicken out, or not want to do that one again.

Haha - I can totally relate! My dd measured 49" in her sneakers the other day. I am still telling her she may not be quite tall enough for RnRC because measurements can be different there, but at least there is a decent chance for her.

This gives me hope for my daughter who is also 3 years 8 months old and 38 inches! We are hoping for another trip next summer, but have vowed not to return until she is 40 inches. Here's to growth spurts!!! :cool1:

My DD then 6 freaked out on Dinosaur. The picture shows it all, I am completely hurled over her in attempt to sheild her from seeing anything. The others she loved. She LOVES Test Track and Big Thunder Mountain. ToT is by far her favorite...went on that darn thing 5 times, I thought I was going to hurl the 1st time. My fear factor and thrill just isn't what it used to be, that is one ride I wished she was tall enough for. I love hearing tell the story "mommy hated it and she wanted to puke, but she loves me and kept on taking me."

Oh please no!:scared1: I'll ride TOT, but I'm not crazy about it. That darn ride gave me a completely irrational fear of elevators. It would be just like her to fall in love with it.

Actually, princessmom29, she has an overly active imagination and as a result gets nightmares, so the worst that could happen would be that she would wake up screaming every night for a week, which results in me being up half the night. She's pretty fearless during the day, but not always at night. Captain Hook used to capture/kidnap her in her dreams quite a bit. It got much better once I told her that they were her dreams and she controlled them and that if he came after her, she could beat that old codfish and to be strong and fight him and win just like Peter Pan. (Since then, she wakes up in the moring and tells me how she, Cinderella and Peter Pan battled him and threw him in the ocean with the crocodile).

Great TLH0726! :yay: Good luck Savannahcat- I bet she gets there in time!

That is just the cutest story! DD recently started nightmares abot Stitch. Who knows, I think that it is part of the drama phase a long with a vivid imagination. I have been battling the "sharks" in living room for a bout 4 years now.

My dd is a little adrenalin junkie, she has she been a steady 41 inches (she's a little peanut that makes up her height in the most precious ways) our last two trips, so I am not planning a trip until Fall 2010 to give us some time for a growth spurt.
