Was better than Kraken in my honest opinion! - I loved it!!!

At first it seems like a pleasant water ride, until of course the 60 feet drop down into the water!!! - Yes, you will of course get wet - But, so what? - Does it matter on a hot Orlando day?

The ride ends with a short speedy rollercoaster - but thats yet another highlight of this popular ride.

Everybody who goes on this - will enjoy it and want to go on it again. Once they have managed to dry off.

Would this be appropriate for the kids? I have a 6 & a 9 year old...I'm so on the fence about which rides the 6 year old can do. I've ruled out the Kraken - but originally thought Atlantis would be fine. But after reading your description, I don't know.

I've been on it a hundred times and still don't understand the backstory of the ride. it starts off as a visit to Atlantis before it falls into the sea, and then something goes wrong. you wake an evil Medusa-type creature and she threatens you the rest of the ride until you escape.

great initial drop and the roller coaster element sets the ride apart from any other water attraction. depending how the boat is loaded, you can get absolutely soaked.

Before riding, it's helpful to know the complicated storyline behind the journey you're about to begin. The action takes place on Thera, an island off the coast of Greece where, without explanation, the ancient city of Atlantis has risen from its watery grave. Needless to say, this has caused quite a stir, attracting the media and assorted onlookers, you and I included. There's even a black, satellite dish-equipped TV news van parked alongside the lagoon, beaming live reports around the globe.

As we walk through the village, overhead monitors telecast the newsfeed. Experts are at a loss to explain this miraculous event and one fellow in particular, an old Greek fisherman, is supremely agitated about the whole thing. Stavros is his handle, and he has only this to say: Keep Out. Seems there's something bad hidden behind the city's walls, and we don't want to mess with it. "It" turns out to be an evil Siren known as Allura, an ethereal goddess who plans to use her seductive charms to lure us into Atlantis... and to Our Doom.

you know i went on this had no idea about the roller coaster bit as you cant rearly see that from entrance, and was so scared and shocked, got so wet, could have taken trousers off and showered under them!

We just got back from two days at SW.
I loved Atlantis, but I hate that you get soaked from people paying money to soak you! The ride itself doesn't soak you to the bone, the people do. To me, it's just not that type of park. Call me grumpy, but it annoyed me.
I also loved the surprise of the rollar coaster after the drop!!

I love J2A!!! I don't know how many times I've ridden it since 1999. A good many, though, I bet. It's definitely a must see attraction whenever I return to Sea World Orlando.
