Hi all! My trip is in 12 days and I'm in a bind. I am a scrapbooker and obviously am going to scrap my DW trip. Well I tried to get my hands on one of those handheld recording devices so I could just talk into it and replay it later. I can't find one. So I'm going to try to journal. I was just wondering if you all could give me some great guided questions to jot down and think about during the day and/or at the end of the day.
I read I believe it was Poly DW Princess' trip report and loved it. At the end she had a few summed up pieces like favorite dessert experience, etc.
I thought that was neat. This will be my first trip so I don't know what kinds of questions I should ask myself. I"m sure I'll be overwhelmed. Anybody have some good questions to ask myself in my journal?
Thanks a bunch!

Did you try a toy store for the hand-held recorder? Me and my dd were talking about the one she got about 10 yrs ago when Home Alone made them popular. I've seen them at Toys-R-Us.

Questions you could ask yourself:

What made me cry, laugh, yell, etc.

Have a great trip.

First of all...have a great trip! :Pinkbounc

I'm a big scrapbooker, too, and I'll just share how I did it. I had an envelope for each day, almost about the size of a 5x7. I 3-hole punched it, and stuck it in a binder (a homemade version of a popular Disney planner! :thumbsup2 ) At the end of each day, I wrote down on the front, journal style, what we had done that day, any special things, etc. On the back I listed meals, souvenirs bought, etc. I also kept a running tally of $$ spent, so as not to be shocked at the end (also for planning purposes for other trips). Inside each days' envelopes went any receipts, stubs, memorabilia for the scrapbook. At the end of each day, I also reviewed the pictures from my digital camera and made any notes on that days' envelope.

For me, not only was it a great way to organize my thoughts and ideas for a scrapbook, but it was fun to re-live the day so as not to forget the little things, and an enjoyable way to wind down.

Hope you enjoy your trip...and happy scrapbooking! :goodvibes

Thats a neat idea! (the envelope and what to do with it.) My roomie who is one of the four going on the trip kind of laughed at me when i said I was going to save napkins from the trip for my scrapbook. I've done it for other trips before! With the envelope I'd be able to keep that and other items together!

Also the kids cheapy recorder would be good too, I'll have to look for that at my local toystore.
Thanks!

Ooh...I save napkins, and tags, and all kinds of stuff! Disney brochures work GREAT as clip art, so make sure you pick up some extras!

Here are some pages I did using Disney memorabilia:

For this one, I cut out the "Disney" letters from the MVMCP brochure, and used the wrist band from the party.

For this one, I used the brochure we got for the party, and used a Mickey I cut out of another brochure.

Cheap, and worked well! I know this deviates from your original question, but that's what happens when I get going about two of my favorite passions...Disney and scrapbooking! :goodvibes

I don't know if you have Radio Shacks in your area - I got my son a small recorder for about $19 there - the tape is about the 1" by 1 1/2" the whole thing is about the size of a check book (only thicker).

Have fun

You should pick up a Passporter! They have pockets for you to stick your stuff from that day in, and they also have questions for each day, like "Today the weather was _____" and "Today we tried _________ and the result was _____________" Helps a lot!

If you can't find a voice recorder, you can always call yourself and leave voicemails! ;)

And be sure to carry a mini notebook or at least a piece of paper with you in the parks to jot down notes!

Have a great trip!

Hmmm Whats a passporter? Is that like what the other poster was talking about? Where are they sold? Down in DW?
I think I'm giving up on the handheld device now. But awesome idea calling and leaving myself messages! thx!

PS it sounds almost like mad libs!! Disney style!

A "Passporter" is a Disney guide. It is very nice. It has a lot of into, tips and advice, and in the back it has neat fold-out maps. It also has envelopes that has places for you to record things, such as plans for the day, $$ spent, and also journal type info, like "The best thing today was..." You can get it in either a spiral bound edition (cheaper) or a loose-leaf type (a bit more expensive, but you can refill it and/or change things around a bit, depending on your needs).

You can get it online at their own website, I believe, or at other book stores, either on-line or in-person. I don't know if it is sold at WDW?

I've used it in the past, and really liked it.

Yup, you can get passporters online, and I've also seen them at most bookstores. Not sure if they sell them at WDW yet or not, though. If you don't have time to buy them, I seem to remember them having ones you could download on the Passporter site, and print out? It's been a few years, so I'm not sure if they're still there.

Write down funny quotes of the day. Or any memorable quotes. I love reading what my kids said about certain things. My DS4 loved Its a Small world and was lobbying to go on a 3rd time. He said, "I just love those singing girls." Little things like that are fun to read in the scrapbook.

Have a great trip. Katy :sunny:

Bellelayne, you didn't mention if you have kids -- but if you do, don't forget to have them journal little bit! It's really fun to see it in their handwriting, whatever they liked best that day. Actually this is neat to do with whomever is in your traveling party. I love to capture snippets of everyone's memories for our book.

Great idea to have questions -- then instead of just making it a step by step itinerary of your day, it will have emotion and feeling to it.

Be sure to post a TR when you get back!! We'll be waiting!

Hi there - I am leaving tomorrow and I carry a small notebook in my camera bag and I keep all the reciepts through the day in the zipper pocket of the said camera bag. I jot down notes while waiting in line, on the TTA, while eating lunch and waiting for the parades. almost everytime we sit down. Have a great trip.. Michelle
