Every week on DWTS they show snippets of the teams practicing. Sometimes it shows kate practicing at the studio but many times you can tell she is at her house. You can see the kids coats hanging in the background.
Now I'm not a fan of Jon or Kate. But I still her doing things to have an income. Yes she is also still getting her limelight but at the same time providing an income for her family whereas all you see Jon doing is running around on dates. I have not seen any attempt to make any kind of income for his family.

They have made a fortune with the TV show they had, books they have written and all the appearances they have made. I believe the rush to keep the money coming in is to cash in while they still have access to the big paychecks in the media and entertainment world. They have both become quite used to the lavish lifestyle that all that money and fame has provided.

The catch is that right now Jon can't participate in any media oriented work but she can and I agree that the child support and custodial arrangements should be re-evaluated.

When Jon tried to sue TLC, wasn't one of the reasons, that they were underpaid? When they published what they really got paid, it was way less than what we all had been saying. They must have had very poor representation. Of course I would have had no problems living on what they were paid, but I don't think they ended up rolling in it. Legal fees have prob eaten up a fair share as well. You can buy her last book for less than a $1. She will have a new one coming out next week, and I'm sure once she's booted off DWTS, she'll spend time on the road pushing that, but I doubt it will be a big money maker.
Kate + 8 will only be successful if people watch it, either on TV or youtube. If people that disaprove don't watch it, it will fail and the kids will be off the air. But many of us watch (hanging my head in shame), even if we don't approve, because the kids are so darn cute

Even if the amounts per episode were less than the $75K that was reported, they also wrote books and made appearances at Churches etc. If her current reported DWTS paycheck is $200K than I would guess that some of the reported paychecks from the past are exactly what we were told. They live the high life and have expensive taste, that is what drives Kate to want to make tons of money. Most people that I know that want to provide for their families would do just about anything to pay the bills but with her it seems that she has a standard to keep up with both with what she would do and what she needs to make.

Kate is putting herself out there making a ******* out of herself to bring in a paycheck to support her kids. Clearly she's not a dancer and I'm sure she knows it, but she's obviously ready to do what it takes and capitalize on the opportunties presented her. Jon is making a ******* out of himself for free.

IMO, Kate is making the better choices and should have majority custody.

He wished her well at the beginning of the season. She probably faces elimination next week and this story comes out? What a great way to gain votes!

They both get tabloid money for talking about it too. Double win!

The only thing worse than Kate having custody of those kids is Jon having custody. At least she supports them.

They didn't make nearly that much. I think when the divorce was going through it came out they were making 22,000 per episode at the end. So the early episodes were worth much much less. Then you have to think they lost half to taxes. It certainly wasn't worth what they've gone through, and when you consider how large their family is it wouldn't have gone that far. If they had kept every penny and spent nothing they would have been able to pay for that house...but of course they did spend a bunch of it.

They are both morons. I was totally team Jon while they were married but I think he's given us a clue why she was screaming at him all the time over the past year.

It's new news and based on folks that I have known to try to fight and have custody changed for far more legitimate reasons and failed....

He doensn't stand a snowball's chance in a PA summer to succeed based on his claim of absenteeism.

A job--even if it is one we may not choose--is not justification to throw someone under the bus and sue for primary custody. (now if she was prostituting in NV, maybe.)

He gave it to her and crying foul so soon after--he's delusional.

They probably could have originally--but my understanding is that Jon "surrendered". He didn't fight it and practically gave her primary custody.

I'm guessing he is feeling guilty about it now (among other things), but that isn't justification to steal primary--which is what he is suing for.

I agree- she's getting attention and he's jealous. Just like a kid, negative or positive, attention is attention. He's pathetic.

Jon also wants his support lowered. Supposedly it's set at over $20,000 a month. No mention if he does or doesn't pay it, just the amount. It's also said he's living with his brother and he says the divorce agreement says he can live in the house when Kate is gone and the guest house when she is there, but I guess she hasn't allowed that. At least that is what his side is.

My guess is, if the support goes away or gets lowered considerably, his lawsuit for physical custody and the right to live in the house may too.

I believe during the divorce a certain amount of community property was set aside for his "child support" so it is being paid, but technically he's not paying it (in other words the court didn't trust him to get a job and take care of his kids- good call.)
