Jon Favreau's Magic Kingdom movie

Sounds interesting. Hope it happens.

I am wondering if they make this film and make it similar to night at the museum then why won't they just go ahead and make Kingdom Keepers. It has a great story and brings a lot of the rides, etc... to life.

I have to agree - if they go that sort of route, using Kingdom Keepers would be a great place to go, rather than creating their own stuff, it's a fun story that they can pull from!

Of course, there's always the worry that they'd wreck the source material... (See Percy Jackson)

You can bet your money that this will be made AND if it does well (which I'm sure it will) you can expect a movie on each of the WDW theme parks based on the Kingdom Keepers series of books. Now, much closer and much more anticipated for me is the new re-make of The Haunted Mansion. It's coming (originally announced last year at San Diego Comic Con) and it will be worth the wait. Follow the ride more in its theme and finally allow us to forget about that dismal movie with Eddie Murphy.

While we're on it, don't forget about The Jungle Cruise! This one will star both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, Tom/father/family, Tim/Boat Captain. This one was also announced last year and you can expect it to do very well in the movie houses. In fact, the rumor is that Disney will be looking to the above "series" of Magic Kingdom movies in addition to this one and at least one or two sequels as a result. These sets of films will be the next blockbusters that replace the Pirates franchise. They're betting the farm on it.

Because Kingdom Keepers has a large amount of behind the scenes stuff in it and Disney does not want to ruin the "magic" for the masses. Its one thing for a few people on tours to see the backstage areas but it is entirely another for Disney to show them in a movie that would appeal to most Disney fanatics.

Ridley has pitched the KK books for movies at least twice, but Disney has passed and chosen to go a wholly original route. There are a variety of reasons they may have chosen it (the aforementioned "backstage" stuff, total control of franchise, etc.), and if this does make it into production, you WON'T likely see a KK movie for at least several years afterwards, and even that depends on if they have plans for sequels, etc.

Won't this be a re-re-make of the haunted mansion? I remember one in the last decade being a "re-make"

I know of no previous version to the Eddie Murphy 2003 movie. But the basic premise isn't different than other "you must stay in the haunted house" plots.
