Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

Hello All

A friend sent me here after seeing something I had written on GWoP and it ended up being posted into this forum. I'm the one who sent Kate a bracelet and had a not-so-great experience with her.

First, I want you to know that I am not a Kate-hater, I'm just someone who had an experience that wasn't so terrific. That's all.

In my opinion, I think she's just immature and doesn't see the big picture whatsoever. I hope one of these days she will but by then it will be too late.

When I made the comment about how we all let things slide (grounding our kids etc etc and not following through) it was in response to her "keeping to the rules" of no junk before dinner. When she wouldn't allow the little kids to eat their cup cakes because dinnertime was around the corner. She wouldn't let it slide, totally stuck to the "regular" rules of the house/day despite this being their fourth birthday. I just found it harsh. In our house, your birthday is YOUR day!! no rules apply for this day.

Anyway, I just wanted to clear up my 'thoughts' on that because I read where someone was bothered by what I said. Sometimes when I make posts it's VERY late at night and well, maybe I wasn't thinking clearly and didn't fully explain myself/thoughts. Sorry 'bout that. I can be a rambler and that in itself is super annoying. LOL

This forum seems pretty interesting. I'll read through some other comments but so far, everything I've read has been decent.

I think CottonCandLvr would LOVE to see this thread shut down - because it's not the Jon&Kate hatefest she'd like to see it become.

I have NO doubt that is her/his/their motivation here.

My opinion of J&K has changed slightly over time, but when someone is trying to cram constant accusations down my throat, that they can't back-up, it makes me want to defend J&K even more.

I think the previous dialogue we had was a pleasant and meaningful one, and I agree with Camster, we need to ignore.

I think so too. Both lovers and haters of the show have been posting for a while and while both sides may not fully understand each other's points of view or reasoning, it's remained a respectful discussion. Replying to every single person's post by saying, "No, you're wrong" is completely pointless and is just going to make people mad. It needs to stop, and return to a respectful discussion.

Can someone tell me how to add this CottonCandy person to my ignore list?

I think that all of us should do ignore the trolls/ducks and NOT quote them so that those that do have them on their IGNORE list don't have to see their inane posts at all.

Let's keep this thread the lively discussion it was without the drama ducks ruining it for everyone.

Jon should be a co-author. They are his kids too and even without reading the book, I could pretty well guess that there will be many stories about the kids and Jon & Kate themselves. It would have been wrong not to include him because I'm sure he contributed the content even if he didn't actually write anything.

I don't disagree that Jon should co-author... I guess I hadn't really given much thought about it until recently. LOL.

Madge, when I was talking about the "lies" that Serena Posts, there are hundreds. She of course doesn't say them personally, but these are a few of the quotes that have been written on the site

1. They only play in the driveway because Kate doesn’t want stains on the free kids clothes she will later sell on consignment.

2. The ‘tups are behind for their age because Kate and Jon are busy making deals all day and not assisting with their children’s development or engaging in creative play and craft projects.

3. Jon doesn’t work anymore because they are living off the show.

4. We think Kate might have been abused as a child and is the reson for her personality.

5. The families/friends are not involved because they are upset this show is even going on or have been blacklisted for speaking out.

6.They don’t need money for extravagances because they are getting everything for free."

7&8. They are getting $35,00 per speaking engagement, oh wait, they are getting $25,000 every day its a different number.

I don't know where to begin with the rest, I haven't been on the site in a while and these are only a few of the millions of posts and topics out there. One thing they DO tell is how they know them personally or live near by. What type of vendetta do these people have to want to hurt a family so? And I was wondering what the falling out with Jodi had to do with putting Jon on the book cover. I would agree more with what someone else said that it was more just about him as well and probably felt entitled for his name on it as well.

Just have to point out that the cupcake episode was not really their birthday. It was mentioned that they had a private small birthday at home. This was just something done for TLC/the show. So I can see why they would stick to the regular rules, since this was not infact their special day.

I wonder if the boys got their cupcakes later (since they couldn't have them because they didn't eat their dinner) or did they just go in the trash.

I think the reason many people got upset over the cupcake thing was because they say that Jon and Kate say that they have these rules but then they break them when it's convenient for them so they are confusing the kids. I disagree.

Growing up, my parents were very much like Jon and Kate with the dinner rules. We didn't have to clean our plates, but if we didn't eat a lot at dinner, we didn't get dessert. If you aren't hungry enough to eat dinner, why would you be hungry for dessert? My mom broke those rules sometimes too. I remember in the summer having ice cream sundaes for dinner. Or sometimes we would go out to dinner and get things that we would never be allowed to have at home. It was a once in a while thing. That's what some people aren't understanding.

I don't know how many times I've said that GWoP is full of nastiness. I am well aware of that. I am also well aware that many/most of the people that post over there fabricate crap and create scenarios that I would never dream of. I don't need you to point things out to me ... and do you know those things are lies? No. Neither do I. Those are opinions & ridiculous accuations of malicious people, intent on destroying Jon & Kate Gosselin. Every now and then, there is a post of interest to me. A post that has substance - like the entry from a woman that (allegedly) actually knows Jon & Kate. She received a threatening email that had an IP address traced back to Jon & Kate's neighborhood.

I'm not sure why a die-hard fan would even visit GWoP. It's clear that their minds are not going to be changed by anyone that is a fan of JK8. I think they only way for people that enjoy the show to have conversations about things they like, episodes, etc. would be to have a Yahoo group or something like that, that isn't a public board. I can't imagine there are any message boards that have JK8 topics where people aren't questioning what's going on with the Gosselin family.

I've wondered that myself. It really is bizarre. That's why I prefer this thread ... because, mostly, it's a conversation. We don't always agree, but it's respectful. Most () people on this thread I think raise valid points, ask good questions, and are respectful. I don't get the true venom that people spew. Makes no sense.

If you believe the circumstances surrounding Jodi's exit from the picture .. that Kate didn't want Jodi profiting from her success, than it would be a logical assumption that Kate would feel the same way about Beth making money off the book.

You make a good point, though. It would seem perfectly reasonable that Jon have his name on the book. It just wasn't there in the beginning.

These lies sound pretty easy to discredit. Who does Jon work for or how do they support their family? What groups/charities/people does Kate donate clothes, etc. to? Why does Kate scream "get up, get up, no grass stains?" How much do they really charge for speaking engagements, this shouldn't be secret? Why do the family members say they aren't involved in the kids "every day lives"? I don't know any of these answers.

I would say #3 is closer to accurate than any of them ... the show (and all that comes with it) is now his job. Which makes sense to me.

I would think that, too. Why stoop to the level of those starting the rumors by addressing the world via the interne?

Well, one reason could be that no one on "their" side wants to dignify the rumors with any of their own remarks. I know that's what I was always taught.

Are those on fan boards not stooping to the Kate bashers levels by adamently defending the show/family? Why do fans care what others say if they know they are all lies?
I want to like this family, I'm rooting for them all to come out of this stardom with their heads on straight.

I agree with everything you have said. I am new to these posts, because everywhere else I commented on regarding J&K was shut down (lol). I love these boards b/c I go Disney alot, and wanted a place where I could discuss the show without being bashed because I like it. I saw right away that there was one or two people here that seem right out of that hate site. I think its great if that was true, b/c Jon is really needed in that household right now. I dont think anyone really knows if he is working outside of his family or not. Regardless its good that hes home for those kids that obviously need him.
