Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

I see your point and agree and I wouldn't do it either, but who am I to judge her? There are many things I do as a parent that most people would think I'm crazy for. Some examples, my kids have tv's in their bedrooms, and I let DS(5) watch Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies!;)

 You're a disgusting excuse for a mother!

;)

I'm confused. What of what I said are you wowing and rolling your eyes about??

It may totally be that it is coming off wrong because I am reading it and not hearing you talk. That sometimes happens in the cyber world. Things read differently than you meant. What I am "Wowing" about is your tone. It just sounds like you are so PO'ed about this playground thing and really took it personal. :confused3 It surprises me that you can't see this from a different perspective. I'm sure they didn't ask you to leave because you "could have possibly contaminated their perfect shot".

I wonder if other kids at the playground wandered into the shot, would the production company need them to sign releases? If so, producing a reality show must be a logistical PITA.

My kids love the show, and were playing "J&K plus 8" the other day. I had 8 kids at my house they all watch the show, so they came up with the idea. Have to admit- there is no silence with 8 kids. Not one moment. Everyone at my house behaved wonderfully, but I also didn't have 6 2yr olds....

As for Jon & Kate- I don't think I'd want to be related to them or friends with them, but I do love watching them on TV.

generaly if a production company is filming in any location they have to have the permission of whomever has ownership or managment over that place. in the case of publicly owned lands a permit is usualy required granting permission and outlining what restrictions the municipality does and does not place on the filming. in some places the public can only be kept out or away from an area if the production company goes to the expense of renting out the space for a period of time (if it's even available to do this-some publicly held lands prohibit it). with a privatly owned place it can be whatever terms the owners or managment enter into with the production company so sometimes you may go somewhere and an area is roped off or you are put on notification via signs that if you enter a given area filming is being done and if you do not wish to be filmed you must not enter those areas.

for some reason the little town near us is popular for filming-if a production company wants to restrict access they have to get permission from the city and pay a hefty fee to close off those areas (and we get very advance notification published in the paper and permits can be recinded if there is compelling public outcry) absent that they cannot go into a public place, film and in filming make any demands or restrictions of any member of the public.

I just wanted to say that many times earlier and recently in this thread people say "If you don't like them or the show, don't watch". Well it sorta goes both ways here too. If reading negativity over and over takes away from the enjoyment of the show and leads you to frustration, then don't read the thread? I mean really, that woman is going to draw negativity. It's a given, unavoidable.

Actually I have more to say. Don't lump everyone together. By telling me not to read the thread because I have some frustrations is quite aggressive. I would never ever think to tell someone to stop watching the show because they don't like Kate. I get that it goes both ways. And wasn't suggesting that anyone leave myself. Just explaining the frustration that's all. It's not my thread.

Honestly, I think I was giving a respectful reply to explain to Madge why some might become frustrated on this thread. Certainly wasn't an attack.

And Kate doesn't draw negativity here - with me.

Uh, yea, I was peeved. I can imagine any mother would be. And it wasn't just the camera man, it was J&K. Either one of them could have said, "no, that's ok, they have lots of room to play", but no, they both were asking the camera men to tell the other people to move. That is pure entitlement.

I talking about others beating up CottonCdyLover- who is most likely an insider who knows the family.

I have co-workers that attend their church and they have many stories to tell- 90% of them negative.

I would have told them absolutely not! Until there was someone in CHARGE of the place closing it down for a private event, my children would have played wherever they wanted and for as long as they wanted.

I am surprised at how many people aren't bothered by the playground story. TV show or not, it is a public place and they have no right to tell people to go play elsewhere.

The more I hear, the worse I feel for those kids. They are living in a fish bowl and a very false environment.

I find the children adorable :)

Do you have a favourite? Or "favorite" for you Americans? I'm not sure I do because they all have their ways.

They certainly are cute. Earlier in the last thread many were saying that none of them look like Kate. I think Collin looks exactly like Kate.

I thnk that's wrong. And I wouldn't move. It's public.

I was too busy debating and guessing "America's Sweetheart". ;)

My comments were truly made in general. Not directed right at you. Just pointing out something that struck me. I enjoy a thread with differing opinions and was not telling you to leave. Just pointing out both sharp edges of the knife. Some people (not speaking directly at you) want their threads to be all opinions that are like theirs. I don't mind reading the "I love Kate" posts, I just wonder why people don't want to read any bashing. SOme have told people to not watch the show if they don't like it, I was just also offering an alternative for people who don't like reading negativity. It happened to come to mind when reading your post , so I quoted you, but my post was directed at all the people who get upset reading the Kate bashing.

yeah, I pretty much would have asked ot see the restraining order they had against my children. I also would have like to have seen their permit for soul use of the public playground for that time period.

LOL...that reminds me of them arguing on the show over who was Asian and it seemed that most of the kids agreed that one of the sept girls (Leah?)wasn't.

Oh and LOL on the favorite/favourite...Reminds me of a conversation with a friend a while back. We were talking about a series of books that is popular with home schoolers. She thought people in Canada the UK etc (anywhere that uses British spellings) were just poorly educated and didn't know how to spell. She said something about one would think that at least the publishers would catch the mistakes LOL.

Oh no! I hope she didn't pass that on to whoever she was homeschooling

I don't think I'd mind if I got to a playground was politely asked by a TV show to give them some space while they filmed shots. I've seen several commercials & a music video filmed & it's fun to watch.

BUT...I've seen the TV show & I'm thinking Kate probably didn't ask politely.

Helloooo- get out of our shot, can't you see we have 8 kids!!! :lmao:

:lmao: . I'm so ridiculous that sometimes I try to work around words that are different UK/Can - US spellings on this board. There are quite a few. Insanity.

No wonder I don't mind Kate. I would love to escape this sensitivity box and join her in her world of "who gives a you know what" what other people think. :lmao:

Politely. A different situation for sure. It would be interesting to watch.

I smiled at your Kate rendition. Pretty good Embel.

LOL.... What is so funny is what started the discussion. She has one child in PS and one child that she home schools. The conversation started after she commented about the PS teacher's accent confusing her DD when they moved here from California. She made some mention about teachers should be educated enough to not have an accent and said something about there not being an accent in CA. I mentioned the way she mispronounced some words and she agreed it was a S CA regional "thing" but refused to say it was an accent LOL. Oh and she agreed that her teachers and her DD's teacher in S CA also that the "thing" but that of course everyone there knew the right way to say the words, they just didn't do it out of habit. I asked her how was that any different than a southern accent. Somehow we then got on the subject of people throwing radom u's into words or uing re instead of er.
