This thread is for discussion, friends. There are going to be conflicting ideas, remarks and viewpoints. If you're anti-JK8, you're going to encounter people who aren't and will respond contrarily to your remarks. If you love JK8, you're going to encounter people who don't and will respond contrarily to your remarks. No need for people on either side to take their toys and go home. Or, if you are, why would you feel the need to let everyone know? We are grown-ups, aren't we??

It is so odd that people are so protective about this couple, especially the "poor stay at home Mom" crowd.
I would bet my last dollar that many of the individuals that are so engulfed with this show don't know half of whats going on in their own family, when birthdays are, illness, etc.

The passion & outrage people have shown on this thread is so CREEPY!

WTH? Sure I have no idea when the birthdays are of the children I gave birth to are. I have no idea when they are sick either (oh wait wasn't that me that has been taking care of a sick DD all day) etc. Your post is what is creepy.

So no one is allowed to comment about a negative remark? IMHO the "doped up" comment was way over the top. However I held my tongue because I knew the cries of "we can't say anything if it isn't positive" would start up.
No it isn't obvious that "if you don't have anything positive to say certainly don't say it on this thread."
Most recent example is the comment Kate made last week about the sunset. Many of us were unhappy with that and said so.
Care to point out where anyone has said that either Jon or Kate is perfect? In fact I can point to several examples where we have said just the opposite. I take that back. There are some who claim Jon is perfect but they are the Kate bashers.

This thread is like a cult. You really cannot believe that people are allowed to give opinions that differ from the "pixie dust" that is sprinkled around this thread. I'm not getting into this w/ you again. We've gone this road and we differ on opinions. You can quote anything that you want. I still think this family is wrong but its THEIR life as Kate states at the beginning of each show. That doesn't mean I can't disagree w/ it. This program started out being about how a normal family handles 8 kids. Its really false advertising at this point. They are no way near a normal family and maybe their narrations should flat out say it.

They are so NOT perfect. That is why I like this show. It shows them in the good and bad (and lots of bad too I might add).

I was laughing when I was reading that article that was linked a few posts back about the swimming lessons. One of the comments from a reader was how they "pretend they are all hunky dory and that all of us would pretend to have the perfect family if we had cameras in our face 24/7. It also says where she read an article that says Kate berates and belittles Jon and that she isn't buying the perfect little story." (paraphrased this)

My first thought was the writer must never have watched the show because anyone that does sees how she talks to Jon and knows they do not pretend to be a perfect family.

I don't find this thread creepy, I do know what my family is doing and when all their birthdays are. I do have time to read here and watch the show because my kids are 15, 18 and 20 and most times are either at work, out with boyfriends or attached to their computers and DH is usually sacked out in the family room.

The ONLY thing I find creepy or disturbing here are those that don't realize this is a reality show that is edited by TPTB and that we only see what they want us to see. PLUS the show is paying them well for this so they (the show) will be doing whatever they can to get the highest ratings because that brings in money for them in the form of advertisements.

I think the message boards that sole purpose is to Bash Kate are the creepy ones. If I didn't like the show I wouldn't watch it, I sure wouldn't waste my time on a message board bashing it.

What is creepy is that there are people out there that feel that they are going to "save" and "rescue" the Gosselin kids and that "Kate is keeping them from us". Yes, the quoted words are from a poster on another site that believes she is going to free the kids from their horrible parents. That's creepy.

I've said good and bad things about what I've seen on the show. I hated the way Kate acted when they went to the bakery. I think one day she is going to look back and wish that she was more relaxed and let the kids get dirty once in a while. On the other hand, there are things that she and Jon say that I think are hilarious, but other people get their panties in bunches about.

What I don't get though is when people watch the show just to find things wrong. I mean, who watches TV with a notebook by their side to take notes?

I'm thinking chocolate painting looks like lots of fun!! Tomorrow is our last day of camp (puclic school starts on Wednesday FINALLY!! ), and I'm thinking of busting out the Hershey's.

I said I wouldn't be back to this thread. I sat on my hands for a while ... and thought seriously about whether or not to post.

I'm trying to figure out what it means to be part of the poor stay at home mom crowd .. I don't get what someone does for a living has to do with watching the show. That makes no sense. Are you suggesting that because I am a SAHM, that I am protective of JK8?

I read the thread because I find it very interesting on how people react to this family. How people get wrapped up in them.

I should have said I'm not a huge fan or something to that effect. I don't protect them.

I catch the show when I can. Sometimes my husband will sit through a few minutes of it with me and we'll comment back and forth on parenting styles of them. Even he's noticed that it's heavily edited for Kate to look horrible and Jon look like a saint. But we've noticed lately that they show him being more snippy with her.

I watch because I have a 2 year old who wipes us out. I couldn't imagine 8 kids.

I find it amazing that someone would actually say they looked doped up in a picture. I thought the comment was over the top.

Anyone know what all of Jon's tattoos are? The one on the upper right arm is the South Korean Flag. The one on the left shoulder looks like a tribal sun wiht maybe something in the center of the sun. I have no idea what the one on the right shoulder or left upper arm are.

I know Kate has pooh on her ankle and had something (a flower?) that was removed during the tummy tuck.

When she was talking about letting the kids make a mess painting with pudding I was thinking, sure, she waits until she is staying at someone else's house....she then stated the same thing! At least she admits it!

I couldn't believe Jon was hosing off the kids with cold water and a pressure nozzle! Ouch! It was like riot police in the sixties!!

The kids really seemed to enjoy the vacation though!

Perhaps but I know Kate said that the pudding finger painting was something she remembered from her childhood. She also said that it was easier for her to ease up and do it somewhere other than home.

Who knows maybe they will become Egypts "Jon & Kate". The babies are only 2 days old and hopes of free housing are already being expressed.
According to the article she was on fertility drugs to increase her change of having boys since they already have 3 girls. The reporter in a video on The Fan said that they didn't know how many babies there were until they babies were delivered by c-section.

ETA: I do believe Kate is trying to loosen up. I don't know if it is because of how she sees herself on TV or just maybe the fact that the kids are a little older now.

Oh and ITA about Jon and the preassure washing. OUCH...sure Jon it might not hurt you, but they are 4 yrs old

if we're sharing organizing tips i'll pass on one that's been a life saver for us-i took one of my large laundry baskets and parked it next to the door we exit out in the morning. anything that has to go to school (including gloves, hats and scarves) go into it. in the morning we pull out anything they have to wear and they put it on-otherwise the basket gets put into the car (no bus service). i leave the thing in my car so when i pick up everything they are schlepping home goes into it so it's all carried into the house. i grab the lunch bags out to clean them when the get home and grab the stuff that won't go back the next day. having it all in one container has saved so many trips back out to the car to find something or a frantic call from school that they've forgotten something
